Florida's aquifer adventure - Florida Geological Survey Video 2
The Florida Geological Survey Digital Collection includes historic resources from the Florida Geological Survey (FGS). FGS is an Office which reports directly to the Deputy Secretary for Land & Recreation in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The mission of the FGS is to collect, interpret, disseminate, store and maintain geologic data, thereby contributing to the responsible use and understanding of Florida's natural resources, and to conserve the State of Florida's oil and gas resources and minimize environmental impacts from exploration and production operations.

Cave Diving Floridan Aquifer
Taken from "Polluting the Fountain of Youth" (c) Kurtis Productions for A&E; TV (Fair Use Clause 1976 Copyright Act) to educate and build support for action on environmental issues - especially at this time when our own Governor Rick Scott and Senator Marco Rubio support drilling oil wells in The Everglades (stupid).
My caving instructor, Harry Averill, is one of the divers and worked with Karst Productions. Support them by visiting KarstProductions.com where you'll find this and other titles concerning the Floridan acquifer on DVD.

Guarding the Ogallala
The battle over the proposed 1,700 mile Keystone XL pipeline has raged across the political corridors of the nation's capitol. But in the pristine prairies of the upper Midwest, ranchers on the frontlines have been equally engaged in the fight. At stake is the country's most important groundwater resource—the Ogallala Aquifer—which provides drinking water to residents in eight states and is the sustaining force for much of America's breadbasket.

Water Scarcity on the Texas High Plains: The Ogallala Aquifer
This short documentary provides a glimpse into an unusually important, and long-running research and demonstration project, called the Texas Coalition for Sustainable Integrated Systems Research (TeCSIS) and the Texas Alliance for Water Conservation (TAWC) that started with a grant from SARE to form TeCSIS. This combined project (TeCSIS/TAWC) involves scores of scientific researchers, educational institutions, government agencies, and local area farmers (producers) that are trying to find answers to extend the life of the aquifer, and promote more sustainable, economic viability for this invaluable agricultural region.

From the Earth and Back Again: Alberta Saline Aquifer Project
The Alberta Saline Aquifer Project (ASAP) is an industry initiative being led by Enbridge Inc. to identify deep saline aquifers in Alberta that could be used in a carbon sequestration pilot project. ASAP is a true collaborative effort and 38 organizations have participated in the project's first phase.
Saline aquifers are deep underground formations that contain brine or salt water that is not suitable for drinking or agricultural purposes. Once suitable aquifers have been identified, they can be injected with carbon dioxide - and then carefully monitored to ensure that their integrity remains intact. For more information on ASAP, please visit albertaasap.com

Save Our Suwannee, Inc, A not-for-profit organization whose primary mission is to restore and protect the springs, rivers, lakes streams, ponds and wildlife of the Suwannee Basin.

You can help our springs by sharing this photos and ask your friends to share. We have to start conserving our water and demand our government officials and the agencies in charge of our water do the same. No more water-use permits to phosphate mines and water bottling companies other big water hogs, at least untill our water comes back..

Underground Aquifer in the Pajaro Valley
Andy Fisher is a hydrogeologist at UC Santa Cruz who studies the interactions between surface water and ground water. Over the past decade his research has focused on the Pajaro Valley in California. The Pajaro Valley aquifer provides more than 90 percent of the water used by the area's residents, businesses, and farmers. He explains that this crucial water supply is in grave danger of running out. [2/2010] [Science] [Show ID: 17128]

Drop Inside The Edwards Aquifer
"Drop Inside the Edwards Aquifer" and explore an unfamiliar world hidden deep beneath the earth's surface as computer animation, video footage, and still photography reveal the mysteries of our fascinating aquifer system.
Follow the journey of water as rain falls and flows from high atop the Edwards Plateau, submerges below the earth's surface, and then resurfaces through springs in San Marcos. Along the way, you'll discover the hydrology and geology of a complex underground system and encounter some of the unique species that make this natural resource home. The Edwards Aquifer supplies water to nearly two million people in south central Texas and provides habitat to a number of threatened and endangered species.
