Hooper (1978) Movie Review
Since it seems like a lot didn't care about the video game commercial thing (with all the thumbs down I was getting), I guess I'll go back to doing reviews. So here's a review for Hooper, the 1978 Burt Reynolds film. I was going to get footage but I wasn't able to, so check out the film for yourself to see it.
There will be more reviews coming tonight. This was filmed last on the night I did it, but I uploaded it first since it's the shortest one.
Hooper is a 1978 action-comedy motion picture starring Burt Reynolds, based loosely on the experiences of director Hal Needham, a one-time stuntman in his own right. It serves as a tribute to stuntmen and stuntwomen in what was at one time an underrecognized profession.
Co-starring in the film are Sally Field, Jan-Michael Vincent, Brian Keith, Robert Klein, James Best and Adam West.

Hooper(1978) Movie Review
My review of one of my favorite flicks, Hooper(1978) starring Burt Reynolds, Jan-Michael Vincent, Sally Field, Brian Keith, John Marley, Robert Klein, James Best, Adam West, and Alfie Wise. Directed by Hal Needham.
Trivia
Stunt man A.J. Bakunas, doubling for Burt Reynolds, dropped 232 feet, setting a record for the highest jump without a parachute.
Hal Needham said on a radio show that he decided he wanted a shot from the point-of-view of the stuntman doing the motorcycle stunt that opens the film but the stuntman had already left for the day; so Needham put on pads over his street clothes and did the gag himself. The footage was not used, after all.
The climactic huge stunt sequence, referred to by the crew as "Damnation Alley," was staged at the by-that-time-disused Northington General Hospital, a World War II military hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which had also been used as married-student housing by The University of Alabama. After most of the hospital buildings (including a large smokestack) were blown up or otherwise demolished for the filming, the lot was cleared and the University Mall complex was built on the site.
Director Roger Deal (Robert Klein)'s last lines - about film being "little pieces of time" - are a paraphrase of remarks by Peter Bogdanovich. In fact, the director character was based on Bogdanovich.
Burt Reynolds and director Hal Needham both worked as stuntmen early in their careers. The film was made as a tribute to all of their fellow stuntmen.
The Danish title for this film is "Hård hud over hele kroppen," which translates into "Rough Skin over the Entire Body."
The movie that Hooper and Ski are working on is "The Spy Who Laughed at Danger" which is obviously spoofing James Bond movies. The movie title is an obvious spoof on The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) as well as the movie's "theme music" which is similar to the Bond movie themes. Three years later, when Hal Needham directed and Burt Reynolds starred in The Cannonball Run (1981), which featured Roger Moore spoofing his James Bond persona, Needham and 20th Century Fox almost got sued by Albert R. Broccoli, the producer of the James Bond movies.
At the start of the film, just after the opening stunt, Hooper is talking with the director, he turns away and says: "I hate it when directors slobber all over me like that." Cully replies "Well, when your last picture made over a 100 million dollars you don't have to slobber over anybody." This is a reference to the director, Hal Needham, who made over 100 million dollars with his first picture Smokey and the Bandit (1977), immediately green lighting the production of "Hooper".
In the movie, Burt Reynolds and James Best are long time friends. They also close friends in real life. In fact, Best, who also teaches acting, was an early acting instructor to Reynolds.
The name "Hooper" is obviously a reference to the name: "Hooker" - as in Buddy Joe Hooker ( a famous stuntman and various others in the same family). Buddy Joe Hooker's name even appears on a strip of tape on a drawer in "Sonny Hooper's" (Burt Reynolds ) trailer. This can be seen over Burt's shoulder, early in the movie, in the scene where Sonny/Burt and Cully/James Best do their Roy Rogers' sidekick and James Stewart impressions. Tommy J. Huff's name also appears on the drawer under Buddy Joe's.

Jaws 2(1978) Movie Review 3/3
The third and final part of my review of the underrated sequel, Jaws 2(1978) starring Roy Scheider, Lorraine Gary, Murray Hamilton, Joseph Mascolo, Jeffrey Kramer, Collin Wilcox Paxton, Ann Dusenberry, Keith Gordon, and Mark Gruner.
Directed by Jeannot Szwarc.
Trivia
Roy Scheider did not originally want to appear in Jaws 2, but had recently left the production of The Deer Hunter, which led to conflicts with Universal Pictures to whom he was locked into a multi-film contract with. The studio agreed to forgive his leaving The Deerhunter if he did Jaws 2, which they would count as the two remaining films of his contract with them. Scheider agreed to the terms, but was resentful of his involvement from the onset and clashed frequently with director Jeannot Szwarc.
This is Keith Gordon's first film.
The lighthouse where the teenagers hang out was a specially constructed set made for the film and was 80 feet high.
In a deleted scene, after the copter sinks, the shark attacks the pilot underwater. The sounds of the pilot screaming and the copter being damaged are the exact same sounds from Jaws when the shark attacks the shark cage and Hooper.
In the "final" draft screenplay, the helicopter pilot and Marge (the girl that rescues Sean) both survive. The pilot is able to breathe thanks to an air bubble in the copter's cockpit and Marge avoids the shark by diving underwater. The pilot spots Marge swimming underwater, goes after her, then guides her back inside the cockpit so they can share the air.

Invaders From Mars (1986) - Movie Trailer
Invaders from Mars is a 1986 science fiction film directed by Tobe Hooper from a screenplay by Dan O'Bannon and Don Jakoby.
It is a remake of the 1953 science fiction film Invaders from Mars, and is a reworking of that film's screenplay by Richard Blake from an original story by John Tucker Battle.
Its production was instigated by Wade Williams, millionaire exhibitor, science fiction film fan and sometime writer-producer-director, who had reissued the original film in 1978 after purchasing the copyright to the property.
Elaborate creature effects were supplied by Stan Winston and ornate visual effects by John Dykstra for the remake.
