Alec Burks (born July 20, 1991) is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Burks played college basketball with the University of Colorado Buffaloes.
Burks signed during the November 2008 signing period, prior to his senior year of high school. He attended Grandview High School, where in 2009 he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Missouri. His senior year he averaged 23.0 points per game, in addition to 6.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He was also named the Kansas City Star and Metro Sports Player of the Year during his senior year.
Burks played college basketball at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Burks was selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz, who also selected Enes Kanter. In his rookie season, he averaged 7.2 points in 13.2 minutes per game. The Jazz made the playoffs, but they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round. In his first career playoff game, he scored 6 points.
