The 'Lady Blunt' Stradivarius of 1721
On June 20, 2011, Tarisio auctioned this violin for a record setting $15.9 million to an anonymous bidder - Confronted by the tragic events of the 11 March 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and resulting nuclear crisis, The Nippon Music Foundation has made an extraordinary offer to assist in the recovery efforts of their native Japan. In a gesture of profound generosity they decided to sell what is considered the finest violin of their collection, the 'Lady Blunt' Stradivarius of 1721, and have pledged the entire proceeds of the sale to The Nippon Foundation's Northeastern Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. tarisio.com/theladyblunt

Stradivarius Secret Found By Texas Chemist
Music lovers around the world sing the praises of certain violins and cellos that were made more than 300 years ago in the small city of Cremona in northern Italy. The instruments made by Antonio Stradivarius, in particular, are highly regarded and the few hundred that survive today command prices in the millions of dollars. For many years craftsmen and scientists have studied these violins to find their secret. Now, a chemist in Texas claims he has already found it -- not in the structure of the instruments, but in chemicals used to preserve the wood.

The 'Baron von der Leyen' Stradivarius of 1705
In preparation for their April auction, Tarisio released their latest video featuring the 'Baron von der Leyen' Stradivarius of 1705, a Golden Period Stradivarius that has been in private hands for the past 40 years. Eight talented young musicians were presented with the violin, without being told in advance what they were going to be shown. Jason Price, Director of Tarisio, said, "We are exceptionally lucky that we are able to help so many musicians find their perfect instruments. Trying great instruments is very important to a developing musical career and watching young players try a Strad is priceless." Invited were eight of the best young musicians in the country: Jennifer Choi, Bella Hristova, Stefan Jackiw, Nick Kendall, Pauline Kim Harris, Kristin Lee, Asi Matathias and Arnaud Sussmann. In addition to their experience with the 'Baron von der Leyen', each musician was asked to share their story of how they found their violin. Each story is a quick glimpse into the process of a musician in search of their perfect instrument. The 'Baron von der Leyen" video is available to view on tarisio.com, with the entire series of videos on Tarisio's YouTube channel. The 'Baron von der Leyen' violin will be sold at Tarisio's April auction ending April 26th. Bidding will begin at $2000000.

Stephen M Lloyd - Stradivarius Classical
I was watching the academy and at the end of season 1, the graduation episode, i heard this Vivaldi piece and couldn't figure out what piece it was.....so i re wrote it! the intro is Vivaldi, the rest is my own composition. Enjoy! NOTE: To all how have sent me messages asking why I don't put out more scores on a scheduled basis: I think that limiting your work will create a bigger impression once viewed after a large amount of time and I would rather give my listeners something big occasionally, than something regular all the time! I believe my listeners deserve more than just a mediocre composer. I don't care about views as much as i care about quality! I would rather my scores have less views and more likes than a million views with more dislikes! A score shouldn't always be just about how impressive it sounds. It should be about how the film makes you feel, its a piece of art that transfers emotion while watching a scene! I want my listeners to tell ME what the "Piece" meant to them rather then tell them what it meant to me! Its hard to do at times when music is put to a scene, however i do believe this to be the beauty of music! Regardless of what the scene is telling you, you can still listen to the music without the scene GUIDING you in the direction you are SUPPOSED to follow! I hope all of you can enjoy the music I write because either way you want to look at it.....I wrote it for you in the first place! -SML

Variazioni sulla follia di Spagna (1983) by Franco Tamponi
A fabulous fragment of the film Stradivarius (1984) with a wonderful improvisation of the Folia theme as played by the maestro Salvatore Accardo. Unfortunately the soundtrack(cd under the supervision and violin execution of Accardo) released by Philips 1987 compact disc PHILIPS 422 849-2 (Duration: 7'13", recording date: February 1987 in Rome Italy) is no longer available but is 10 times better than the music used in this fragment of the film music. More about the Folia theme at www.folias.nl The music published in this channel is exclusively dedicated to divulgation purposes and not commercial. This within the framework to study the archtype of La Folía which involves lots of people around the world. Stradivari's Heirs - How Scientists Uncover the Secrets of the Stradivari (Trailer)
A film by Corinna Engelhardt and Elmar Bartlmae, 2011, 52min Leonardo Film Order/ distribution: www.stradivari.tv Fungi treated wood makes modern violin sound like a Stradivarius! Scientist from Switzerland and Germany unravelled that by the use of a special fungus the structure of wood could be altered in a way that increases its sound velocity and therefore enhances its sound quality. The documentary accompanies the scientists along Francis Schwarze of the EMPA, Materials Science and Technology Institute in St. Gallen, Switzerland and the violin maker Michael Rhonheimer while realising their visions and despite difficulties succeeding in the end by building a totally innovative generation of new violins. Can their violins compete with a real Stradivarius? "The film does an admirable job of making the esoteric understandable", Greg Olwell, STRINGS Magazine
