James Bach
I work with project teams and individual engineers to help them plan SQA, change control, and testing processes that allow them to understand and control the risks of product failure. Most of my experience is with market-driven Silicon Valley software companies like Apple Computer and Borland, so the techniques I've gathered and developed are designed for use under conditions of compressed schedules, high rates of change, component-based technology, and poor specification. ABSTRACT
You're already an experienced tester. You know how to design tests and report bugs. Now what? Do you feel like an expert? Unfortunately, if you want to become very good at...

What is Software Testing job about. Why Software Testing might be your best career change opportunity?
We teach software testing classes on-campus and online. Both black box software testing training and white box software trainings are offered along with automated software testing classes.
Software Testing (Quality Assurance) is a unique IT job market niche for those who have limited time frame to change career path to a well paid profession.
The profession is easy to learn. The job of a software tester is in finding differences between actual behavior of a software product and its expected behavior. Even with very limited technical skills you can test many web applications from the user stand point email, on-line retail store, web-communities, on-line banking, games, educational services, and many others.
Wikipedia defines Software Testing as the process used to measure the quality of developed computer software. Software Testing is a process of technical investigation, performed on behalf of stakeholders. Software testing can never completely establish the correctness of arbitrary computer software; software testing furnishes a criticism or comparison that compares the state and behavior of the product against a specification.
We define Software Testing as your chance to change your life.

What is Test Case? - Software QA Job Interview Question and answer
The "What is test case?" question is a very common interview question in Software Testing field.
Taking QA class in a college you might be just fine giving THE definition provided in that course. But, for the purpose of a successful job interview you might come up with a brief discussion, showing the multitude of views and concepts.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers defines test case as "A set of test inputs, execution conditions, and expected results developed for a particular objective, such as to exercise a particular program path or to verify compliance with a specific requirement."
Wikipedia provides slightly different definition: "Set of conditions or variables under which a tester will determine whether an application or software system meets specifications."
The difference between two is "verifying compliance with requirement" versus "meeting specification". In the ideal world we have perfectly defined requirements. In the real world we might have literally none. So, in QA we might deal with actual requirements or with self-inflicted, self-imposed requirements. No matter how well the formal requirements or specifications are defined Software tester will develop and execute test cases in the course of testing the software product.
To the testers who are developing the test cases it is an instrument of planning for future testing. Many companies are outsourcing execution of test procedures. As a result we are seeing more and more people for whom test cases are about execution, not planning. This is why the Internet is now full of definitions like "test cases is a document that describes step-by-step process how to test the application". Step-by-step process of executing something developed by someone else. You can mention that as one of the existing views, but in Silicon Valley you should not make it your preferred definition.
Practically all the definitions imply that test cases will either fail or pass. And that is how tester verifies the requirement. But there is a very important difference in viewing or not viewing test case as smallest test with no more than one verification inside. In some companies one requirement has just one test case assigned. And that single test case will have many verifications inside. Wikipedia expresses different opinion:
1. "there must be at least one test case for each requirement". By the way. Think about how many negative test cases we might have for just one positive test case
2. "test cases are usually collected into test suites". Not into other test cases.
There is an absolutely amazing definition I found on PC Magazine web site: "A test case validates one or more system requirements and generates a pass or fail". Wow!!! It is not even one test case for one requirement. It is about one test case validating multiple requirements.
Think about it. You come to an interview. They ask you "What is test case?". And the person who asks the question might be a proponent of any of the views we discussed so far. The only way not to take the risk of coming with your favorite definition is giving an overview of existing concepts. Make sure you tell the interviewer that you do not know exactly how that QA team defines the term, but you will be happy to adopt their definition.

PLEASE WATCH IN HD FULL SCREEN w/SOUND. It is a much better viewing experience. Hopefully you have a 1080P monitor and good connection. If not, bug a friend or colleague that does. It is worth it.
Landscapes: Volume 2 is the second of a three part series. Every frame of this video is a raw still from a Canon 5D2 DSLR and processed with Adobe software. In Volume 2 I again show off my beautiful home state of Arizona and I also made several trips to Utah. This video has some iconic landmarks that we have seen before. I felt that showing them again with motion controlled HDR and/or night timelapse would be a new way to see old landmarks.
Sales Pitch: I would now have to say that my timelapse skill set is very complete. The amount of knowledge I have gained through research, testing, and shooting experience is astounding. From moon phases to high dynamic range to motion control rigs to noise reduction, you would have a tough time finding someone with more overall knowledge of timelapse. If you need help with your next timelapse project you can reach me at 888-444-2739 or DustinF@crewwestinc.com
Most of the motion control for this video was done with the Stage Zero Dolly by Dynamic Perception. Once I got comfortable using the DP dolly I fell in love. I can set up shots now in much shorter times. More importantly for me, it is much smaller and much more portable than my homemade motion control. Without it, shots like the Delicate Arch shot in Utah would be nearly impossible due to the length of the hike. Buy the Stage Zero Dolly if you are looking for quality, inexpensive, easy-to-use motion control. http://dynamicperception.com/
In addition to the Stage Zero, I also used a three axis motion controlled CamTram. The CamTram is the most versatile dolly I have ever used. Its applications are only limited by your creativity. The CamTram has virtually no weight limit. I was able to achieve shots that dolly-in with the camera just over the ground because of the CamTram's ability to hold heavy counter weights.

30 motion tests in 30 seconds
Over a period of 30 days I challenged myself to created 1 second of animation every day. The idea was to experiment and explore workflow in the software package Cinema 4D and publish one frame from my experiments daily..
The rules:
-Animate 1 second everyday
-Publish one frame daily at blog.steffenk.net
-Put it all together to approx. 30 seconds of animation
In the end I didnt quite manage to complete this challenge on a daily basis, but I ended up with 30 motion tests and this is the result..

Days Out with the Phantom Miro M120
I was lucky enough to be the first person to shoot with the new Vision Research Phantom M120 camera systems. This is just a sample of a project I have had in my head for a while. With help from Abel Cine I was able to test out the camera's before they shipped and put this little edit together. Being able to have a small form factor high speed camera like this for my projects is a long time wish.

What is Test case? Software QA Tester Interview Questions, Manual testing tutorial testcase
What is Test case? What is testcase? Software QA Tester Interview Questions, Manual testing tutorial,Software QA Job Interview Question and answer
Test cases are very important in Software Testing life cycleWhat is STLC
What is Requirement / Specification / User Story? What is Test case? How to create effective test case?Test case Template ?How to Write Test case?Example of writing test case?Where to write test case?Interview questions on test case?
What is Test case?
A test case is step by step instructions to test a specific requirement.
One test case can contain one or more steps based on the complexity of requirement.
Simple and clear steps / driving directions to test the software functionality.
What is requirement / Specification (OR) User Story in Software development?
Requirement/specification means "Technical information about Software products published in project manuals, and technical data sheets. The information about how an application should work, behave or act "
Requirement is also called as "User Story" in agile development methodology.
All the requirements are written in FRD / BRD / SRS doc or Quality center OR any other test management tool
For example: Let's assume a health insurance project on BCBS to find a doctor.
After click on Find a doctor on home page,
FR-001) Search button should be disabled until user provide a valid 5 digit zip code or city and state.
FR-002 ) if the user enter invalid zip code following error message should display on screen.
Zip Code not found.
How we want to test this Functional requirement?
How to create effective test case?
1. Create Test Case based on requirements -- Business requirements are the input for a Test case. Define Test Conditions based on detailed requirements. Develop multiple cases to test individual business requirements when necessary.
2. Validate Test Cases -- Validate that the Test Cases are defined correctly to test requirements and that cases provide adequate coverage of requirements. Review with business/functional experts.
3. Target high risk functions -- It is not always possible to test everything. Cases should target high risk functions first for more extensive testing.
4. Maintain traceability -- Map Test Cases to requirements, components and scripts. This ensures that the test documents are maintainable. Traceability is very important when the requirements or Test Conditions change and it becomes necessary to update the test scripts.
5. Repeatable -- Manual scripts need to be detailed enough for anyone to follow cases.
6. Manual and automated -- Test cases may be manual or automated. Leverage automated testing based on a test automation ROI. Manual test scripts should be defined with an eye toward automation by providing the appropriate level of detail to allow scripts to be easily automated (e.g., outlining the detailed steps to execute a Test Condition rather than simple stating to execute the case)
Interview Questions on TEST CASE
What is Test case?
How many test cases you can write per day?
How many test cases were written in your recent project?
Explain about couple of test cases written on your recent project?
If we don't have requirements, specifications, BRD documents, how you approach to write test cases?
What tools were used in our previous projects to write test cases?
We are using XYZ tool to write test cases, Do you have experience with this XYZ tool to write test cases?
As a H2K Infosys Student you will get a chance to attend our mock interview and discuss more and more interview questions..

Software Testing: Bug Life Cycle
http://www.softwaretestingvideos.com/blog/
"Visit for FREE Complete Video Training"
Get Software testing Jobs just watching these Videos.Bug life cycle helps you understand the whole process involved in defect reporting.Testers are hired to find bugs & you need to know what happens when a bug in a software application is found.
In software development process, the bug has a life cycle. The bug should go through the life cycle to be closed. A specific life cycle ensures that the process is standardized. The bug attains different states in the life cycle. The life cycle of the bug can be shown diagrammatically as follows:
The different states of a bug can be summarized as follows:
1. New
2. Open
3. Assign
4. Test
5. Verified
6. Deferred
7. Reopened
8. Duplicate
9. Rejected and
10. Closed
Description of Various Stages:
1. New: When the bug is posted for the first time, its state will be "NEW". This means that the bug is not yet approved.
2. Open: After a tester has posted a bug, the lead of the tester approves that the bug is genuine and he changes the state as "OPEN".
3. Assign: Once the lead changes the state as "OPEN", he assigns the bug to corresponding developer or developer team. The state of the bug now is changed to "ASSIGN".
4. Test: Once the developer fixes the bug, he has to assign the bug to the testing team for next round of testing. Before he releases the software with bug fixed, he changes the state of bug to "TEST". It specifies that the bug has been fixed and is released to testing team.
5. Deferred: The bug, changed to deferred state means the bug is expected to be fixed in next releases. The reasons for changing the bug to this state have many factors. Some of them are priority of the bug may be low, lack of time for the release or the bug may not have major effect on the software.
6. Rejected: If the developer feels that the bug is not genuine, he rejects the bug. Then the state of the bug is changed to "REJECTED".
7. Duplicate: If the bug is repeated twice or the two bugs mention the same concept of the bug, then one bug status is changed to "DUPLICATE".
8. Verified: Once the bug is fixed and the status is changed to "TEST", the tester tests the bug. If the bug is not present in the software, he approves that the bug is fixed and changes the status to "VERIFIED".
9. Reopened: If the bug still exists even after the bug is fixed by the developer, the tester changes the status to "REOPENED". The bug traverses the life cycle once again.
10. Closed: Once the bug is fixed, it is tested by the tester. If the tester feels that the bug no longer exists in the software, he changes the status of the bug to "CLOSED". This state means that the bug is fixed, tested and approved.
While defect prevention is much more effective and efficient in reducing the number of defects, most organization conducts defect discovery and removal. Discovering and removing defects is an expensive and inefficient process. It is much more efficient for an organization to conduct activities that prevent defects.
Guidelines on deciding the Severity of Bug:
Indicate the impact each defect has on testing efforts or users and administrators of the application under test. This information is used by developers and management as the basis for assigning priority of work on defects.
A sample guideline for assignment of Priority Levels during the product test phase includes:
1. Critical / Show Stopper — An item that prevents further testing of the product or function under test can be classified as Critical Bug. No workaround is possible for such bugs. Examples of this include a missing menu option or security permission required to access a function under test.
2. Major / High — A defect that does not function as expected/designed or cause other functionality to fail to meet requirements can be classified as Major Bug. The workaround can be provided for such bugs. Examples of this include inaccurate calculations; the wrong field being updated, etc.
3. Average / Medium — The defects which do not conform to standards and conventions can be classified as Medium Bugs. Easy workarounds exists to achieve functionality objectives. Examples include matching visual and text links which lead to different end points.
4. Minor / Low — Cosmetic defects which does not affect the functionality of the system can be classified as Minor Bugs.
