Titanic 1912 (In Nacht und Eis) part 2 of 3 TitanicACentury.com
TITANIC TitanicACentury.com In Nacht und Eis (German: "In Night and Ice"), also called Der Untergang der Titanic ("The Sinking of the Titanic") is a 1912 German film about the sinking of Titanic. The filming began during the summer of 1912 and the film premiered that winter. The film's special effects are primitive by modern standards, but were impressive for that time. In the film, a small toy model ship hits an ice block in a small pond and sinks. The film starts out by the passengers boarding at Southampton. The movie depicts the life of the passengers on board the ill-fated ocean liner. On April 14, during dinner in the Cafe Parisian, the Titanic strikes an iceberg, throwing the passengers in the cafe to the side. Panic strikes the passengers and the crew ready the lifeboats despite the fact that there aren't enough of them. Women and children are loaded while the men are held back. The radio operators,(who take up most of the sinking part of the film) send out an urgent SOS. Fire blows out of the funnels during the sinking and then the boilers explode. The radio room floods and finally the operators and captain jump ship and the Titanic sinks. The film was produced by Continental Film Studios of Berlin, and while most of its footage was shot in studios and in a lot behind the studio building, some footage was shot in Hamburg and some was possibly done aboard the German ocean liner Kaiserin Auguste Victoria, then docked at Hamburg. The Berlin Fire Department provided ...

Sarah Bernhardt - Queen Elizabeth (1912)
This is a brief clip from the silent Sarah Bernhardt film "Queen Elizabeth" (1912). In this sequence, Robert Devereux, the 2nd Earl of Essex is executed. Queen Elizabeth (Bernhardt) visits his corpse, and mourns for him. There's a subplot involving a missing ring, which (in the context of the story) demonstrates Essex's fidelity to Elizabeth. "Queen Elizabeth" was by far Bernhardt's most successful film. Audio recordings of Sarah's voice can be found at the Cylinder Preservation and Digitization Project website: cylinders.library.ucsb.edu

In Nacht und Eis - A 1912 Silent Drama about Titanic (Part 1)
Famous for being the first Titanic movie in history, "In Nacht und Eis" (translated: "In Night and Ice") was released in August 1912 in Germany. The film used revolutionary special effects for the time, utilizing a toy boat for the sinking sequence and also featuring sparks shooting from the funnels (as well as an explosion for the boilers exploding). Some footage was shot on board the Kaiserin Augusta Victoria, then a very popular ocean liner. After 1914, the film was thought to be lost forever. It was not until 1998 that it was found by a film collector in his private archives.

The New York Hat (1912)
From 1912, here is a favorite film of mine starring Mary Pickford and Lionel Barrymore - "The New York Hat". It was filmed in Ft. Lee, New Jersey! It is a short film produced by Biograph in 1912. Based on a scenario by Anita Loos, it was directed by DW Griffith and stars Mary Pickford, Lionel Barrymore and Lillian Gish. It is considered one of the most notable of the Biograph shorts and is perhaps the best known example of Pickford's early work. The story is simple: Mollie (Mary Pickford) leads a cheerless, impoverished life, largely because of her stern, miserly father. Her mother is mortally ill, but before dying, she gives the minister(Lionel Barrymore) some money with which to buy her daughter the "finery" her father has always forbid her. Mollie is delighted when the minister presents her with a fashionable New York hat she has been longing for, but village gossips misinterpet the minister's intentions and spread malicious rumors. Mollie becomes a social pariah, and her father tears up the beloved hat in a rage. All ends well however, after the minister produces a letter from Mollie's mother about the money she left the minister to spend on Mollie. I have always enjoyed this film because of the great cast. Mary Pickford is young & beautiful in it. A young dashing Lionel Barrymore is the minister. Its rare we've seen him at this age long before arthritis set in and was in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. Both of the Gish sisters are seen as well. Finally, even ...

Algie The Miner (1912 silent film)
This rare silent film from 1912 is much talked about but rarely seen. Here it is in its entirity. Billy Quirk plays a young man (Algie) who is, to say the least, rather effiminate. He is sent to the wild west to prove himself a real man in order to have the hand of the girl he loves! Directed by Alice Guy-Blache. One of the first examples of the Hollywood "sissy" character still in existence.

Movie: Cleopatra (1912)
Cleopatra is a silent film created in 1912 by Helen Gardner and the Helen Gardner Picture Players. The film, in which Gardner stars in the title role, was based on a play written by Victorien Sardou. In a series of elaborately staged tableaux, it depicts Cleopatra (Gardner) and her love affairs, first with handsome fisherman-slave Pharon, then with Marc Antony. The film features lavish sets and costumes and at just over an hour, it was considered fairly lengthy.

Khwaja Khurshid Anwar Jo Na Hota Tera Jamalehi Sallu Alaihe WaAlehi Zubaida Khanum Film Ayyaz naat
Khwaja (Khawaja) Khurshid Anwar (21 March 1912 - 30 October 1984) was a renowned film-maker, writer, director and music composer who gained extreme popularity both in India and Pakistan. He is widely credited as being one of the most original and inventive music directors of his generation. Khwaja Khurshid Anwar (Urdu: خواجہ خورشید انور) was born on 21 March, 1912 in Mianwali (now in Pakistan) where his maternal grandfather Khan Bahadur Dr.Sheikh Atta Mohammad held the post of civil surgeon. His father Khawaja Ferozuddin Ahmad was a well-known Barrister in Lahore. The ace jurist had a love for music so much so that he had a huge collection of gramophone records of Indian classical and neo-classical music and his precocious son had an unhindered access to them all. Moreover, in the weekly soirees of music which were held in the lawyer's house, renowned masters used to perform, and it was here that the young Khurshid Anwar developed a taste for classical music. Viewing Khrshid Anwar's keen interest Khansahib Tawakkal Hussain took him under his tutleage in 1934. Khurshid Anwar was also a brilliant student at Government College, Lahore, the renowned seat of learning. Having topped in the Masters in Philosophy(1935),he appeared in the examination for Indian Civil service (ICS ) but due to his political and anti-Raj activities, the colonial masters would not let him share power. Titanic and Survivors - Genuine 1912 Footage
For more original Titanic videos visit the Titanic Centenary Collection in the British Pathe free film archive: www.britishpathe.com Titanic - Genuine 1912 Footage. This newsreel (without the music)would have been shown in the cinemas at the time of the disaster. Footage includes the Titanic leaving Belfast Lough for Southampton on April 2nd, 1912. Captain Smith on the Bridge of the Titanic. The video also shows various ships such the Carparthia returning from rescuing survivors. Journalists interviewing survivors. Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of long distance radio transmission and who was credited with saving those who were saved because of his marvelous invention. Although it says this was shot on April 2nd, 2012, British Pathe think it was probably earlier. The ship still looks like work is being done to it with lots of workmen still around. The Titanic's name is in black as is other parts of the ship which ultimately ended up as white. There is also a workman's loo which can clearly be seen dangling off the left hand side of the ship - this surely would have been removed before setting sail. First ever Epic Fail captured on film (1912)
Franz Reichelt (1879 -- 1912) was a tailor, inventor and parachuting pioneer. Reichelt announced to the press in early February 1912 that he had finally received permission and would shortly conduct an experiment from the Eiffel Tower to prove the value of his parachute invention. His parachute, which had seemed to be only half-open, folded around him almost immediately and he plummeted for a few seconds before crashing into the frozen soil at the foot of the tower. His canopy appeared to billow out at the last moment, but by that time it was too late for it to deploy fully or to break his fall. His right leg and arm were crushed, his skull and spine broken, and he was bleeding from his mouth, nose and ears. Visit: documentaryfilmstube.com for more documentary films.

The Kinora Films
These films from 1912, shot on a Kinora machine, are the earliest known examples of English folk dance on film. They feature sisters Maud and Helen Karpeles, co-founders of the English Folk Dance and Song Society, along with Cecil Sharp, another co-founder of the Society and Godfather of the English Folk Dance Revival, and George Butterworth, who but for the First World War, when he died during the Battle of the Somme, would have been Sharp's successor rather than Helen's husband Douglas Kennedy. Idole der Nazis - Hanna Reitsch - Hitlers Fliegerin
Hanna Reitsch (* 29.
