Adrienne Elizabeth Clarke AC (born 6 January 1938) is a Professor of Botany at University of Melbourne since 1985 and director of the Plant Cell Biology Research Centre since 1982.

Biography[link]

She was educated at Ruyton Girls' School and the University of Melbourne.

Professor Clarke is a former chairman of CSIRO and Lieutenant Governor of Victoria. She has also been a director of a number of public companies and currently sits on a number of boards including the Australian Research Centre for Urban Ecology, the Australian Advisory Board of the Global Nature Conservancy, and in 2010 joined the La Trobe University Council.

She is author of four major scientific books dealing with chemistry, cell biology and genetics, and has served on the Prime Minister's Science and Engineering Council and on the Victorian Business Round Table. Her scientific work provides critical insight into the biochemistry and genetics of flowering plants, their reproduction and growth. It has led to industrial applications for next-generation controls of insect pests and fungal disease of crops.

As a leading academic, Professor Clarke is a Fellow of both the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. She is a Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences (USA), a Foreign Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a Fellow of Janet Clarke Hall in Melbourne.

Adrienne Eliza Bailon (born October 24, 1983) is an American actress, singer-songwriter, dancer, and television personality. She was a member of former girl groups 3LW and The Cheetah Girls, and is also known for her roles in the Disney Channel Original Movie of the same name and its sequels which brought the group to prominence. She has since gone on to be a solo artist signed to Island Def Jam. She also hosts afternoon programming and other events for MTV. Bailon also dated Rob Kardashian from 2007–2009 and was featured in Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Bailon was born to a Puerto Rican mother and an Ecuadorian father on October 24, 1983. She grew up in the Lower East Side, Manhattan, New York.^[1] She attended High School for Health Professions and Human Services. But when her girl group 3LW took off in 2000, she pursued her new profession as a singer rather than towards careers in health and human services.^[2]

3LW (1999–2007)[link]

In 1999 Bailon was singing in a church choir which caught the attention of popstar Ricky Martin. Martin asked for the best four singers, and Bailon was among those chosen.^[3] After this success Bailon auditioned to join a girl group, which became 3LW.

Along with Kiely Williams and Naturi Naughton, the group signed to Epic Records and released their debut album of the same name in late 2000, which had moderate success in the U.S. Their debut single "No More (Baby I'ma Do Right)", peaked at #23 on the Billboard Hot 100, along with Playas Gon' Play which was favorable among fans but didn't share the same success of No More (Baby I'ma Do Right). The album peaked at #29 on the charts was certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of over 1.3 million copies in the U.S.

The group soon began working on a second album, "Same Game, Different Rules", and the lead single, "Never Let Go" was sent to radios, however the entire album soon leaked to the internet, and Epic Records considered dropping them. Fans however led a protest, "Never Let Go of 3LW", and the act was retained. After many arguments, Naturi Naughton left the group, right before their official second album, "A Girl Can Mack" was released. The album was considered "racier" than their previous effort and dealt with negative publicity due to the departure of Naturi.

As a duo, which the tabloids nicknamed "2LW", Adrienne and Kiely released a holiday album, "Naughty or Nice". The duo also scored a film together in Disney's "The Cheetah Girls". They shot the film the winter of 2002. After filming, Jessica Benson replaced Naturi in early 2003 and they began work on a third album, "Phoenix Rising". In 2004, they were dropped from Epic and signed to Sony and So So Def Records. Adrienne & Kiely went on to shoot two more Cheetah Girl films, as well as sign a record deal as a musical group with Sabrina Bryan.

In 2005, Sony released a compilation album, "Neva Get Enuf", before dropping them.^[4] In 2006 "Phoenix Rising" was renamed "Point of No Return" with its lead single, "Feelin' You" Jermaine Dupri, being released. The album, however, was canceled and the group was dropped from So So Def Records in 2007. They disbanded that same year.

The Cheetah Girls (2004–2008)[link]

In the fall of 2002, Bailon along with Williams were cast in the Disney channel original movie The Cheetah Girls with Sabrina Bryan and Raven-Symoné. The movie was released in August 2003 and was a ratings success. The Cheetah Girls soundtrack debuted at #33 on the Billboard 200 and was later certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA.^[5]

Bailon had a supporting role on Disney Channel's That's So Raven which she played Alana. In 2005, she starred in Coach Carter. Walt Disney Records soon created a real-life girl group, composed of Adrienne, Kiely, and Sabrina Bryan. Raven-Symone was offered a spot in the group but declined to focus on her solo career and That's So Raven. Their holiday album, "Cheetah-licious Christmas" was released that year, and they soon left Walt Disney and signed to Hollywood Records in 2006. Bailon then starred in the MTV film All You've Got, along with R&B singer Ciara. The movie was released to DVD on May 2006 and premiered on MTV.

The group later returned to film the sequel The Cheetah Girls 2. The movie premiered on August 25, 2006 and brought a total of 8.1 million viewers, becoming the highest rated Disney Channel original movie and beating the premiere of the first of the High School Musical films. The soundtrack to the movie released on August 15, 2006 and debuted at #5 on the charts and was certified platinum by the end of the year.^[6] The soundtrack had hit singles like The Party's Just Begun, and Strut which peaked at #85 and #53 on the Hot 100. The Cheetah Girls began work on their debut album in January 2006. However, when filming and recording for The Cheetah Girls 2 came up, the album was put on hold. "We'll be making a real album, not a soundtrack", Bailon said. Their debut album TCG was released on September 25, 2007 and featured the single "Fuego", which charted on Hot Dance Club Play's chart and had its video played in heavy rotation on Disney Channel and MTV Tr3s.

In 2008, the group filmed the The Cheetah Girls: One World; the film was the only film to not feature Raven-Symoné. The movie premiered on Disney Channel on August 22, 2008 and was in summer's top movies and ranked #2. The soundtrack to the movie peaked at #13 on the Billboard 200. Bailon recorded two solo tracks for The Cheetah Girls: One World, "What If" and "Stand Up".

In November 2008, Williams, in an interview with In Touch Weekly magazine, stated that the group would be breaking up as all three members were pursuing solo albums. Bailon later confirmed it also. As of December 2008, the group disbanded.

Solo Career (2009–present)[link]

Bailon's solo career began when she signed to Island Def Jam Records in early 2009, with an album to come which features Ne-Yo, The-Dream, Anthony Marshall, Stereotypes, Darkchild, Pitbull, Danja, D'Mile, Estelle.^[7]

"It’s an R&B album that kind of reminds me of a modern day version of 3LW, I’m going back to my roots of R&B and hip-hop. I’m so excited. It’s going to be a great album and I think people will be really surprised."

Her album includes the songs "Rainy Days", "Superbad", "Hello", "They Don't Really Know", and "When He's Here".^[7]

Ambrosia "Amber" Moore (formerly Forrester, Ashby and Romalotti) is a fictional character on the CBS soap operas The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless played by actress Adrienne Frantz.

The Character debuted on The Bold and the Beautiful on July 18, 1997, where she remained for nearly eight years until April 14, 2005. In 2006, it was announced the character was to join its sister soap opera, The Young and the Restless. Her first airdate was November 18, 2006 and she remained there for nearly four years until May 7, 2010. It was later announced that she was to return to The Bold and the Beautiful.^[1] She currently continues to portray Amber on the Soap Opera.

She has endured many challenges including being drugged and raped, having a relationship with a younger man, marriages to Rick Forrester and Daniel Romalotti, as well as an invalid one to Cane Ashby . She gave birth to a stillborn son and in 2011 gave birth to a daughter, Ambrosia "Rosie" Barber-Forrester with Marcus Forrester.

Character Creation[link]

The character was introduced and created by B&B writer Bradley Bell. Amber began in The Bold and the Beautiful to interact with the Forresters, and was quickly portrayed as the "Gold digger", and was a fan favorite despite "evil ways". She left the soap after a contract expire in June 2005, and began taping with The Young and the Restless (its sister soap) In October 2005.^[2]

When the character joined the show's sister soap, her intentions laid the same, to try and attract a handsome bartender Cane Ashby who was destined for a fortune (being thought to be the Chancellor Family long lost son).^[3] In 2010 it was announced the character was to vacate the soap to return to home, The Bold and the Beautiful.^[4]

For her portrayal, Frantz has won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Female Actress In 2001, receiving nominations in the same category for 2000 and 2003; and she has also won Best Performance by a Young Performer in a Daytime Serial at the 20th Annual Youth in Film Awards. Her character has been described as a "mischievous schemer".,^[5] She has been said to have "Evil Ways" and critics " didn't take long for her win over the critics with her performance of a girl from the wrong side of the tracks trying to make a better life for herself-- any way she could!".^[6]

1997-2005[link]

Amber arrived in Los Angeles (The Bold and the Beautiful) In 1997. She began babysitting teens Rick Forrester and his sister Bridget Forrester, the children of Amber's upcoming rival Brooke Logan. Amber, always from the start wanting to be with a rich man for his money, began flirting with the sixteen-year-old Rick Forrester, they eventually had sex when she was supposed to be baby sitting him.

During her time in Los Angeles, Amber encountered bad dealings with criminal Sheila Carter. After Amber became pregnant, she and Rick decided to keep the baby. For a small amount of time, it was unknown if the child was Ricks of a black singer named Raymond King she dated briefly. Amber married Rick despite this, and she delivered the stillborn Eric Forrester III. She later took in her cousin Becky's unwanted son, raising it as her own, however Becky reclaims her child later and discovers the truth. She looses custody of the son she took care of as her own, Little Eric. However when Becky dies of cancer Amber and Rick take over as parents. Amber also underwent problems with Deacon Sharpe who wanted to be with her. He was also the biological father of Little Eric. Deacon tried to take his child back when Amber rejected him. Deacon later seduced and married Bridget Forrester; and told Rick's parents Eric and Brooke that if he had to divorce Bridget, Amber would have to leave Rick's marriage and marry him instead. Amber refuses to leave Rick and Deacon becomes enmeshed instead in a triangle that develops between Bridget Forrester and her mother Brooke Logan.

Sheila returned to L.A years later to see Amber. Her grown up daughter, Mary develops a crush on Amber's husband, Rick (then played by Justin Torkildsen), but would never act on it. Sheila orders a man named Lance to drug Amber and rape. Lance threatens Sheila to tell Amber everything that happened previously, but Sheila killed him. Amber finds out about Erica's crush and is suspicious of her intentions, and the two fight and Erica accidentally gets into an accident. Sheila warns Amber to stay away from her daughter. Sheila also frames Amber for various crimes, and pushes Erica to have sex with Rick so she can be connected to the Forresters once again herself. Erica's true identity (as Sheila's daughter) is exposed. Sheila later holds Eric Forrester and Taylor Hayes Forrester (who was very close friends with Amber) hostage, and shot Taylor and Brooke, Taylor died of her wounds. Fortunately Sheila is jailed (however later returned to The Young and the Restless around the same time as Amber). Little Eric is taken away from Amber when she is deemed a bad parent. Rick and Amber end their marriage shortly after, and Amber sinks into depression. Amber later repeats her ways by seducing another young man, Thomas Forrester. Ridge's hatred for Amber intensifies during this time. Amber intertwines herself in Ridge and Brooke's lives as a couple, complicating their situation.

Amber moves in later with Ridge and Taylor (who recently returned from the dead, revealed to be alive) despite Ridge hating her. She caused tension for them as well as a couple. When Ridge left Taylor, Amber despised him. As revenge, she locks Ridges and Bridget Forrester (then played by Ashley Jones) in a Cold Cave, causing them to kiss. She got this on tape and showed it to Brooke, who kicked Ridge out. However later it was revealed that it was Amber who caused Ridge and Bridget to nearly die from hypothermia. She is condemned by the town and leaves.

2010—[link]

After leaving Genoa City, Amber returned to Los Angeles began working for Jackie and Nick Marone at Jackie M Designs. Her job is shortlived when it's discovered that the designs were stolen from Forrester Creations. After a one-night stand with Oliver Jones, Amber discovers she was pregnant and assumed the child as his. However, she decides to pass the baby off as Liam Spencer's to have access to his father Bill Spencer Jr.'s fortune. Amber strings Liam along during the pregnancy allowing him to believe the child is his. However, after giving the birth, the baby is revealed to be a black baby, freeing Liam and giving Amber a newfound relationship with her baby's true father, Marcus Barber Forrester. After Marcus turns her down several times, Amber tells him and his girlfriend Dayzee that while she would have liked to have had a chance with Marcus, she realizes the timing was all wrong. Amber then sets her sights on ex-husband Rick Forrester and begins to draw up designs for him that were based off his ideas, so he is able to have his own line and take credit for the designs as his own. As her relationship with Rick deepens, she begins feeding street drugs to Hope Logan, who believes they are from her psychiatrist. Brooke then hires Caroline Spencer, daughter to Karen Spencer, into Forrester Creations to act as Rick's new design partner. Threatened both on a professional and personal level, Amber begins to work up a scheme that leads Caroline to believe Rick is a crossdresser. When Caroline confronts Hope with the information, Hope attacks Amber, accusing her of manipulating Caroline to get her way. Amber then confesses to giving Hope illegal drugs, which in turn brings the end of her relationship with Rick.

2006-10[link]

In the fall of 2006, Amber arrived in Genoa City (On The Young and the Restless). Amber became acqainted with many of the residences of Genoa City when helping Neil Winter's club Indigo by singing there. She reunited with friend Lauren Fenmore who gave her a job at her boutique. Amber met town matriarch Katherine Chancellor and they became very dear friends. When Kay began having dreams about her past where she dreamt she switched Jill Foster Abbott baby nearly fifty years prior, Amber decided to start helping searching for the long-lost baby (so it seemed until 2009).

Amber's search ended when she contacted a guy named Cane Ashby who wound up coming to Genoa City. She begun a relationship with Cane when it was discovered he was Jill's long-lost child and the possible heir to a fortune. Amber had her friend Alison Stewart and staged a fake marriage (Alison pretended to be Cane) at a Las Vegas. The marriage ended when the truth was revealed. Amber briefly dated Adrian Korbel.

Amber started a brief rivalry with Lily Winters who won Cane's heart shortly after and tried (but failed) to win Cane back. Amber started flirting with Lily's then husband Daniel Romalotti. Daniel and Lily's marriage ended when Lily found porn (naked pictures of Amber) on Daniel's phone. Amber and Daniel eventually started a relationship. After this, Amber's previous boyfriend (after she left L.A) named Plum arrived in Genoa City. Later Kevin Fisher found Plum dead and they all found out that he had thousands of dollars. The three of them (Amber, Kevin and Daniel) made a pact to not talk about the money to anyone and not to use it, but Amber did.

Amber's infatuated stalker Deacon Sharpe arrived in town and shook up Amber and Daniel's relationship by blackmailing Amber and framing Daniel for art theft. Amber in an attempt to keep Daniel from being prosecuted slept with Deacon. Eventually Deacon tried harder to come between the couple (and Daniel's controlling mother who hated Amber, Phyllis Newman (who embodied Brooke's feelings on Amber) enforced it). The situation died off eventually and Deacon Left. Amber and Daniel married. Deacon continued to harras the couple, but was arrested and jailed, shortly following this, Amber set out to find Little Eric - Daniel was unhappy, not ready for kids. Amber and Daniel's marriage hit another bumpy road when she caught a drugged Daniel in bed with Sheila's daughter Daisy Carter. Amber left town with Little Eric later after fearing for his safetly, marking the end of Daniel and Amber's marriage.

Michael Clarke Duncan (born December 10, 1957) is an American actor, best known for his breakout role as John Coffey in The Green Mile, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. He currently stars as Leo Knox on the Fox television series The Finder.

Early life[link]

Duncan was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in a single-parent household with his sister, Judy, and mother, Jean Duncan (a house cleaner), after his father left.^[1][2] He always wanted to act, but had to drop out of the Communications program at Alcorn State University to support his family when his mother became ill. Duncan's large frame—6 feet 5 inches (196 cm)^[3] and 315 pounds (142 kg)—helped him in his jobs digging ditches for the People's Gas Company and being a bouncer at different Chicago clubs. Duncan has stated that one of his many jobs had been a stripper and that his stage name was Black Caesar.^[4]

In 1979, he participated in the Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park, home of the Chicago White Sox: he was among the first 100 people to run onto the field and he slid into third base. During the ensuing riot his silver belt buckle was stolen^[5] while he was stealing a baseball bat from the dugout.^[6] Clarke would later provide the narration for the 2005 World Series film.

Career[link]

Duncan took other security jobs while in Los Angeles while trying to get some acting work in commercials. During this time, he worked as a bodyguard for celebrities like Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J, and The Notorious B.I.G. all the while doing bit parts in television and films. When the Notorious B.I.G. was killed in 1997, a friend was covering for Duncan. This was the reason for Duncan to quit this line of work.^[3] In 1998, Duncan was cast as Bear in the film Armageddon, where he struck up a friendship with castmate Bruce Willis. It was Bruce Willis' influence that helped him to get his breakout role as John Coffey in the Frank Darabont-directed The Green Mile, a role which netted him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.^[7][8]

Duncan then was cast in a string of films that helped to establish him as a star: The Whole Nine Yards, Planet of the Apes, The Scorpion King (where he starred alongside his friend, The Rock), The Island and Daredevil as Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin. At first glance, Wilson Fisk appears to be an overweight corporate head nicknamed Kingpin, while in fact he is the sole person running organized crime. Duncan signed on for the role in January 2002, though he had been attached far earlier.^[9] When Duncan was cast, he weighed 290 pounds. He was asked to gain 40 pounds for the role in order to fit the physique of Kingpin. In order to do this, he would lift weights for 30 minutes a day, and power-lifted with one or two reps a day, as well as eating whatever he wanted. Despite this, Duncan's biggest concern was that he is black, whilst Kingpin has always been portrayed as white.^[10] He spoke on the fan's loyalty to the source material by saying "they watch movies to say, 'Hey, that's not like the comic book.' But I want them to get past that and just see the movie for what it is and see me for what I am—an actor."^[11] In July 2006, Duncan showed interest in returning for the role of the Kingpin, but stated that he would not be willing to gain weight as he felt "comfortable" being down to 270 pounds. However, he jokingly showed willingness to change his mind if he was offered $20 million. Duncan suggested that the character be portrayed as having been training a lot in jail in order to become faster in combat against Daredevil, also working as a way to fit his weight loss into the story.^[12] In 2009, he stopped eating meat and later appeared in a PETA ad campaign, touting the health benefits and his increased strength from a vegetarian diet.^[13]

Duncan has also provided his voice for a number of roles including Brother Bear and its sequel, Brother Bear 2, The Land Before Time XI: Invasion of the Tinysauruses, Quiznos commercials, and the video games Demon Stone, SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, The Suffering: Ties That Bind, Saints Row, and Soldier of Fortune, with his most recent role being God of War II, where he provides the voice of Atlas, the Titan condemned by Zeus to stand at the western edge of the earth and hold up the sky on his shoulders. He reprised his role as the Kingpin in Spider-Man: The New Animated Series.

In 2005, he starred in the film Sin City (again alongside Bruce Willis) as Manute, a powerful mobster. Duncan appeared in a minor role in the 2006 movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby as Lucius Washington, and he voiced the role of the villain Massive in the Loonatics Unleashed. In 2006, he voiced the role of Numbuh 26 in the animated movie Codename: Kids Next Door: Operation ZERO. He played Balrog in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and voiced the prison commander in Kung Fu Panda.

He has also guest starred in numerous television shows. He appeared in an episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody "Benchwarmers" as Zack's basketball coach, Coach Little (Which Zack poked fun at, since the "Little" was somewhat ironic due to his large build). In 2005, Duncan guest-starred in a first-season episode of CSI: NY.^[14] He appeared as "Colt" in the second-season premiere of Chuck, "Chuck Versus The First Date".^[15] In November he appeared as a guest star on the CBS show Two and a Half Men. In April 2011 Duncan guest starred on an episode of TV series Bones as Leo Knox. In 2012, Duncan got his first starring role as the same character in the spinoff series The Finder. In the same year, he appeared in a public service announcement advertising the importance of knowing early onset symptoms of strokes.
