Aldehydes and ketones. Acetals and ketals (1)
Organic chemistry: Nucleophilic attack on aldehydes and ketones; the three main categories of nucleophilic attack. An example of category 1: attack by a Grignard to form an alcohol. An example of category 2: attack by alcohol to form an acetal or ketal. Hemiacetals and hemiketals vs. acetals and ketals. An example of category 2, reverse reaction: reaction of an acetal or ketal with aqueous acid to form an aldehyde or ketone. How treatment of reagents with acid or base affects reactivity
The labels "category 1", "category 2", and "category 3" are terms I made up; they are not standard terminology in organic chemistry.

Reihenfolge empfiehlt.
4 Filme
• Aldehyde und Ketone
• Essigsäure
• Carbonsäuren I -- Alkan- und Alkensäuren
• Carbonsäuren II -- mehrere funktionelle Gruppen

10.1.9 &10.1.10 Up to 6 carbon atoms:alcohol,aldehyde,ketone,carboxylic acid,halide IB Chemistry SL
10.1.9 and 10.1.10 Compounds containing up to six carbon atoms with one of the following functional groups: alcohol, aldehyde, ketone, carboxylic acid and halide.
These follow a pattern similar to naming branched alkanes -- common mistakes include:
a) counting from the wrong end of the molecule and NOT getting the smallest numbers in the name
b) forgetting hydrogens
c) confusing aldehydes (CHO) which are at the end of the molecules with ketones (CCOC) which are never at the end.
d) confusing aldehydes (CHO) with alcohols (COH)
e) Having carbon atoms with more or less than 4 bonds.

Aldehyde and Ketone: Organic Chemistry for JEE 2012, Best Online AIEEE Coaching, jee mains chemistry
http://www.exponenteducation.com provides IIT-JEE organic chemistry video lectures, IIT JEE study material and free NCERT, CBSE solutions for students of class X, XI, XII and droppers who are aspiring for IIT-JEE, AIEEE, NEET, MP PET, AIPMT, PMT, AIIMS, AFMC, CEE, MHTCET and other such engineering entrance exams. This video tutorial is from IIT JEE Organic Chemistry syllabus and is focused on concepts and reaction involving ketones, aldehydes, halogens and is also called haloform reactions. A few examples of how halogens (chlorine, bromine and iodine) participate in the reaction to form ketones are explained. This lecture will strengthen your concepts of organic chemistry and will help you understand the concepts of haloform reactions and will enable you to solve similar question from in JEE paper, practice tests, previous years papers, sample question papers and help you build fundamental concepts.
IIT-JEE Organic Chemistry online foundation course and video lectures similar to this one are also available for class X, XI, XII, MP PET, NEET, AIIMS, AIPMT and other medical and engineering entrance exam preparation at http://www.youtube.com/user/exponenteducation and http://www.crackiitjee.com/video-lectures/. To be successful in JEE 2012, NEET 2012, AIEEE 2012 and other engineering entrance tests you need to focused and disciplined with your preparation. Focus your study on building concepts, begin your preparation well in advance and do regular self-study, do lot of exercises, solve previous years question papers and online test series. Going to a good coaching and buying best study material will not help you get a rank. The important and difficult thing to do for most students is to do self-study and revision of the topics in disciplined manner. It is also true that you can beat the best students going to any best IIT coaching in Kota or other place just by doing self-study for IIT JEE. You can refer to IIT video lectures and video study material for preparation.
