www.maximilianimaging.com Van Vorst Park, Jersey City Van Vorst Park is a neighborhood in Historic Downtown in Jersey City, centered around a park sharing the same name. The neighborhood is located west of Paulus Hook and Marin Boulevard, north of Grand Street, east of the Turnpike Extension, and south of The Village and Christopher Columbus Drive. Much of it is included in the Van Vorst Park Historical District. The park was a centerpiece of Van Vorst Township, a township that existed in Hudson County from 1841 to 1851. Van Vorst was incorporated as a township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 12, 1841, from portions of Bergen Township. On March 18, 1851, Van Vorst Township was annexed by Jersey City. The name Van Vorst comes from a prominent family in the area, the first of which arrived in the 1630s as superindentent of the patroonship Pavonia, the earliest European settlement on the west bank of the Hudson River in the province of New Netherland. His homestead at Harsimus, plus others at Communipaw, Paulus Hook, Minakwa, Pamrapo were later incorporated into Bergen. His namesake and eighth generation descendant, Cornelius Van Vorst, was the twelfth Mayor of Jersey City serving from 1860 to 1862. Henry Barbosa González (born Enrique Barbosa González; May 3, 1916 -- November 28, 2000) was a Democratic politician from the state of Texas. He represented Texas's 20th congressional district from 1961 to 1999. González was born in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Mexican-born parents Genoveva (née Barbosa) and Leonides Gonzalez (from Mapimi, Durango), who had immigrated during the Mexican Revolution. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and San Antonio College, earning his undergraduate degree. Later, he received a Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law. Upon graduation, he became a probation officer, and was quickly promoted to the chief office of Bexar County, Texas. In 1950, he was Scoutmaster of Troop 90 of San Antonio, of which his son was a member. González served on the San Antonio City Council from 1953 to 1956, when he was elected to the Texas Senate, having defeated the Republican candidate, Jesse Oppenheimer. He remained in the Senate until 1961 and set the filibuster record in the chamber at the time by speaking for twenty-two straight hours against a set of bills on segregation. Later, a US Congress war crimes investigation, the United States Senate Subcommittee on Korean War Atrocities of the Permanent Subcommittee of the Investigations of the Committee on Government Operations reported that "... two-thirds of all American prisoners of war in Korea died as a result of war crimes." Paul Krassner (born April 9, 1932) is an author, journalist, stand-up comedian, and the founder, editor and a frequent contributor to the freethought magazine The Realist, first published in 1958. Krassner became a key figure in the counterculture of the 1960s as a member of Ken Kesey's Merry Pranksters and a founding member of the Yippies. The Realist was published on a fairly regular schedule during the 1960s, then on an irregular schedule after the early 1970s. In 1966, Krassner published The Realist's controversial "Disneyland Memorial Orgy" poster, illustrated by Wally Wood, and he recently made this famed black-and-white poster available in a digital color version. The Realist also distributed a red, white and blue Cold War bumper sticker that read "Fuck Communism." In the "Stream," which occupies the middle of three columns on the page, users see updates from those in their Circles. There is an input box which allows users to enter a post. Along with the text entry field there are icons to upload and share photos and videos. The Stream can be filtered to show only posts from specific Circles. "Circles" enable users to organize people into groups for sharing across various Google products and services. Although other users may be able to view a list of people in a user's collection of Circles, they cannot view the names of those Circles. The privacy settings also allow users to hide the users in their Circles as well as who has them in their Circle. Organization is done through a drag-and-drop interface. This system replaces the typical friends list function used by sites such as Facebook. Since September 26, 2011 users can share Circles; it's a one-time share, so if the creator of the Circle updates the members, people's shared copies won't be updated. Straks strijkt Interieur 2012 neer in Kortrijk. Voor de eerste keer in haar bestaan zal Interieur nu ook het stadscentrum inpalmen. De designbiënnale bestaat sinds 1968 en geldt als een van de leidende beurzen van Europa. Om en bij de 90.000 bezoekers uit meer dan 50 landen komen straks naarKortrijk. Al 44 jaar lang toont de biënnale de meest recente ontwikkelingen op vlak van design en interieur. Kortrijk Xpo was telkens de thuisbasis om nieuwe producten aan een breed publiek te tonen. De beurs in Xpo krijgt wel een andere indeling, gebaseerd op het patroon van een stad, met straten en pleinen. Stadsfestival Onder impuls van de nieuwe voorzitter en curator, Lowie Vermeersch, wordt de formule van Interieur verder uitgebreid. Naast de klassieke beurs is het nu ook een stadsfestival. Jonge ontwerpers, avant-garde bedrijven, scholen... zullen de kans krijgen om op plaatsen als de Budafabriek, de Budatoren, de Budascoop en het Broelmuseum hun creaties te tonen aan een ruim publiek. Project Rooms De verbinding tussen de beurs en de stad wordt gemaakt door zeven zogenaamde Project Rooms. Aan zeven internationale kunstenaars, architecten en ontwerpers werd een ruimte van 60m² gegeven. Binnen die project rooms tonen zij wat volgens hen in de toekomst de essentie is van onze leefomgeving.
