  Angela Pleasence (born 1941 in Chapeltown, Sheffield) is an English actress. She is the daughter of actor Donald Pleasence and his first wife, Miriam Raymond. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
  She is known for her performance as Catherine Howard in the 1970 BBC serial The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Other television credits include: The Barchester Chronicles, Mansfield Park, Silas Marner and Midsomer Murders.

  Bishop Charles-François-Bienvenu Myriel, referred to as Bishop Myriel or Monseigneur Bienvenu (c. 1739–1821), is a fictional character in Victor Hugo's Les Misérables. Myriel is the Bishop of Digne. Bienvenu was the name of the factual contemporary Bishop of Digne that formed the basis of Myriel.
  He earned the title of Bishop through a chance encounter with Napoleon; he is like a common, compassionate country priest. That is how he earned the name "Monseigneur Bienvenu" ("Bienvenu" meaning "welcome"). His acts and words are lengthily described in the novel. For example, he moved into the small town hospital, so that the episcopal palace could be used as a hospital; he keeps only a tenth of his salary for himself, spending the rest on alms; he once accompagnied a condemned man to the scaffold, after the village priest had refused to do so. One night Jean Valjean shows up at his door, asking a place to stay the night. Bienvenu graciously accepts him, feeds him, and gives him a bed. Valjean, unable to sleep in a comfortable bed after years of sleeping on boards in Toulon, sneaks away, taking most of Bienvenu's silver with him. Valjean is taken back to face Bienvenu by the police and the police inform Bienvenu of their findings: namely, a load of silver in his knapsack. Bienvenu tells the police that he, indeed, had given them to Valjean as a gift and informs Valjean that he was a fool for not taking the candlesticks as well, as they are worth much more. After the police leave, Bienvenu tells Valjean to use the silver to become an honest man. After this, Bienvenu is referenced at least twice more: In 1821, while Valjean serves as a mayor under the name Monsieur Madeleine, he reads of his death in a local paper. The other is just before Valjean’s death, when a portress asks him if he wanted a priest, he replies "I have one," and points upward.

  In the novel, the young Cosette's mother Fantine places her under the guardianship of the Thénardiers, where she is severely mistreated. They beat her, starve her, and force her to perform heavy labor in their inn. Under the Thénardiers' care, she is described as "thin and pale," wears rags for clothing, and she has chilblains on her hands as well as bruised and reddened skin. The author also states that "fear was spread all over her."
  While later under the care of Jean Valjean, Cosette’s appearance completely transforms as she grows older. She becomes very beautiful, healthy, well-attired and educated. She later falls in love with Marius Pontmercy. Cosette has chestnut brown hair, beautiful eyes, rosy cheeks, pale skin, and a radiant smile.
  Euphrasie, nicknamed Cosette by her mother Fantine, is the illegitimate daughter of Fantine and Félix Tholomyès. After Tholomyès abandons Fantine, she leaves Cosette with the Thénardiers at their inn in Montfermeil, paying them to care for her child while she goes to work in the city of Montreuil-sur-Mer. Unbeknownst to Fantine, the Thénardiers abuse and mistreat Cosette while she is under their care for the next five years.

  Born Gabrielle Danièle Marguerite Andrée Girard to the painter and resistance worker André Girard and his wife, she is a talented pianist but is best known for her role in the cinema of France. She acted in the first of her more than sixty films in 1942 using her birth name but then adopted the stage name Delorme. She is best remembered for her starring role in the 1948 original French production of Gigi and in the 1950s Minne L'Ingenue Libertine, both of which were based on novels by Colette.
  In 1945 Delorme married actor Daniel Gélin with whom she had a son, Xavier (1946–1999). Delorme divorced Gélin in 1954 after he admitted having an affair with Romanian-born model Marie Christine Schneider, that produced a daughter, Maria Schneider. Delorme's son was a successful actor who died of cancer in 1999 at the age of fifty-three.

  Enjolras (French pronunciation: [ɑ̃ʒolʁa]) is the charismatic leader of the ABC Club in the 1862 novel Les Misérables by Victor Hugo.
  Enjolras is the leader of Les Amis de l'ABC (The Friends of the ABC), a group of students dedicated to making political changes in France. Enjolras devoutly believes in democratic freedom, which leads him into an argument with the Bonapartist Marius Pontmercy. Enjolras is a firm believer in democracy and equality. He declares "Patria" or "fatherland" as his mistress. This makes him the opposite of the character Grantaire who is cynical and believes in nothing. Despite the differences in their characters, Grantaire looks up to Enjolras.
  During the funeral of General Lamarque, a popular defender of the people, the monarchy dispatches troops to keep the peace. As shots are fired, Enjolras and the rest of the Friends of the ABC spring up and build a barricade outside of a wine shop in the rue Mondetour. They build the barricade out of common items, arm themselves and prepare for the coming fight. Gavroche points out that Javert, posing as a revolutionary, is actually a spy for the army. The men take Javert prisoner. After a drunken revolutionary shoots an innocent, Enjolras promptly executes him.

  Gavroche (French pronunciation: [ɡavʁoʃ]) is a fictional character from the novel Les Misérables by Victor Hugo.
  Gavroche is the eldest son of M. and Mme Thénardier. He has two sisters, Éponine and Azelma, and two unnamed younger brothers. He is also technically unnamed; the reader is told he chooses the name for himself, but is not provided with his real name. Mme. Thénardier only loves her daughters, and M. Thénardier shows no affection for any of his children. Gavroche is told by his parents to live in the street, because he would have a better life there.
  The Thénardiers sell (or rent) their two youngest sons to a woman named Magnon. Due to a freak accident, the two boys are separated from Magnon without identification, and encounter Gavroche purely by chance. They are unaware of their identities, but Gavroche invites them to live with him and takes care of them. They reside in the hollow cavity of a giant elephant statue, the Elephant of the Bastille conceived by Napoleon as a fountain, but abandoned unfinished. This was no imaginary construction; located at the Place de la Bastille, it had been designed by Jean-Antoine Alavoine. The two boys soon leave him the next morning. They are last seen at the Luxembourg Gardens retrieving and eating discarded bread from a fountain. It is unknown what has happened to the two after that.

  Javert (French pronunciation: [ʒavɛʁ]; c. 1780-7.6.1832) is a fictional character from the novel Les Misérables by Victor Hugo. He is a prison guard, and later policeman, who devotes his life to the law. He is always referred to simply as "Javert" or "Inspector Javert" by the narrator and other characters throughout the novel; his first name is never mentioned. Javert is the main antagonist of the novel, to Jean Valjean, the novel's protagonist.
  Some consider Javert misguided rather than evil, although his inflexibility and cruelty throughout the novel moves in parallel to Jean Valjean's kindness. Those who consider Javert misguided believe that the distinction of pure evil in the novel more appropriately belongs to the greedy and treacherous Thénardiers. Others consider the Thénardiers dishonest, petty criminals; although their actual impact is minor compared to the significant levels of spite and mercilessness Javert inflicts on those he encounters.
  Javert was born approx. 1780 (he is said to be 52 in 1832) inside a prison. His mother was a Gypsy fortune-teller, and his father was a galley slave.   Jean Valjean (c. 1769-1833) is a fictional character who is the protagonist of Victor Hugo's 1862 novel Les Misérables. Hugo depicts the character's 19-year-long struggle with the law for stealing bread, so he could feed his sister's children (5 years for the theft, 14 years for four attempted escapes and two years for fighting back during one escape attempt) during a time of economic depression. The Bishop Myriel of Digne, from whom he stole valuable silverware, tells the police that he has given the treasure to Valjean. Out of this encounter, Valjean becomes a repentant, honorable, dignified man. He is kind to all whom he encounters, a devoted substitute father to a girl who loses her mother, and a benefactor to those in need. Though a known criminal and a parolee, Valjean yet grows morally to represent the best traits of humanity. Valjean occupies a place on the wrong side of the law, but the right side of human virtues and ethics.

  Judy Kuhn (born May 20, 1958) is an American mezzo-soprano singer and actress.
  Kuhn (pronounced "coon") was born in New York City and grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. She attended Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C.
  She entered Oberlin College in 1976. Although she was very interested in singing and theater, she began Oberlin in the College, not the Conservatory. After taking voice lessons with Frank Farina during her freshman year, Kuhn decided to transfer into the conservatory. She transferred her sophomore year. Unlike other Oberlin Conservatory vocal performance majors, Kuhn was never interested in singing classical music, preferring musical theater and other types of music instead.^{[citation needed]} She trained as a classical soprano and graduated in 1981. After college, she moved to Boston, where she waited tables and studied acting.
  After appearing in summer stock, Kuhn moved to New York where she was cast in the U.S touring production of The King and I with Yul Brynner.
  Her Broadway debut was in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, a Rupert Holmes musical based on the unfinished Charles Dickens novel, in 1985. Her next appearance was in the ill-fated Rags, which closed after just four performances but managed to attract some Tony nominations.   Kare Kauks (Kare Orav by marriage; born 2 June 1961 in Kehra) is an Estonian singer and music teacher.
  Kare Kauks has been vocal-coached by Heidy Tamme at the pop department of Tallinn Music School. As a promising jazz vocalist, she participated in several jazz festivals in early 1980s, including the one in Tbilisi.
  In 1986, Kare Kauks became the soloist of the extremely popular Estonian rock band Mahavok. In spring 1987, Mahavok won the grand prix both on Tartu Pop Music Festival, and on Jūrmala festival in Latvia with the song "Mägede hääl" ("Voice of the Mountains") which brought the group attention throughout the Soviet Union. The record company Melodia released an album by Mahavok, which sold well across the USSR.
  During the 1990s, Kare Kauks was rarely seen on stage for devoting herself to family instead. In 2001, however, she played the role of Fantine in the Estonian production of the musical Les Misérables in Tallinn.
  In 2002, Mahavok released a double compilation album of greatest hits for the band's twentieth anniversary and performed some concerts. They reunited again a few years later, when the founder and leader of the group, Heini Vaikmaa, celebrated his 50th birthday, and Mahavok has continued performing since then.

  She was the first Asian to play the roles of Éponine and Fantine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway. Salonga was named a Disney Legend in 2011 for her work with the company.
  Salonga made her professional debut in 1978 at the age of seven in the musical The King and I by Repertory Philippines.   Marius Pontmercy (French pronunciation: [maʁius pɔ̃mɛʁsi]) is a principal fictional character in Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel Les Misérables. He is young, intense, and in love with Cosette. He fights at the barricades with Enjolras and the Friends of the ABC when Éponine tricks him into going to the barricade and (since he believes Cosette is lost to him) he resolves to die. As it turns out, Marius is the only one among the rebels at the barricade who does not die there (when Jean Valjean saves him).
  Marius first appears in book three of Les Misérables, where he lives with his rich grandfather, Monsieur Gillenormand. Early on, he does not very much like his father, Colonel Georges Pontmercy, because he believes his father has abandoned him to his grandfather. In reality, his grandfather told his father that Marius would be disinherited if his father had any contact with him. Marius is ordered to write his father once a month, but his grandfather pockets all the replies without ever showing them to Marius. Shortly after Marius turns eighteen, Gillenormand tells him to visit the Colonel. Although he could have left that night and taken a public carriage straight there, Marius waits until the morning and takes two connecting public carriages to get there. He arrives seconds after his father's death. Marius isn't really bothered by the death, since he still believes that his father never wanted to see him and never bothered to write to him. Marius discovers a note written by his father instructing Marius to help Thénardier in any way possible, since the Colonel believes that Thénardier saved his father’s life at the Battle of Waterloo.

Her brother Robert LuPone is an actor, dancer, and director who originated the role of Zach the choreographer in A Chorus Line. Her other brother William LuPone is a teacher. When they were young, they performed on Long Island as the LuPone Trio. She is of Italian/Abruzzese descent and a graduate of Northport High School, where she studied under the musical direction of voice coach Esther Scott.

  Sidney, born Sophia Kosow in The Bronx, was the daughter of Rebecca (née Saperstein), a Romanian Jew, and Victor Kosow, a Russian Jewish immigrant who worked as a clothing salesman. The area from which Victor Kosow came from is today in Belarus. Her parents divorced by 1915 and she was adopted by her stepfather, Sigmund Sidney, a dentist. Her mother became a dressmaker and renamed herself Beatrice Sidney. Now using the surname Sidney, she became an actress at the age of fifteen as a way of overcoming shyness. As a student of the Theater Guild's School for Acting, Sidney appeared in several of their productions during the 1920s and earned praise from theater critics. In 1926, she was seen by a Hollywood talent scout and made her first film appearance later that year.
  During the Depression, Sidney appeared in a string of films, often playing the girlfriend or the sister of a gangster. She appeared opposite such heavyweight screen idols as Spencer Tracy, Henry Fonda, Joel McCrea, Fredric March, George Raft (a frequent screen partner), and Cary Grant.   The Thénardiers, commonly known as Thénardier (born 1773;/təˈnɑrdi.eɪ/; French pronunciation: [tenaʁdje]) and Madame Thénardier (1788-1832),^{[citation needed]} are two of the primary villains in Victor Hugo's novel Les Misérables and the stage musical of the same name. It can be argued that they are the only "villains" of the tale, as the more heavily featured Javert is commonly considered a misguided antagonist, rather than a true "evil villain". They are ordinary working class people who blame society for their sufferings. They care nothing for the lives of others and only care about themselves and acquiring money, whether by cheating customers at their inn or robbing people.
  The Thénardiers have two daughters named Éponine and Azelma, whom they spoil and pamper as children, and three sons, one called Gavroche whom they have left to the streets, and the two youngest sons of whom they send away to a woman named Magnon and abandon. When they first appear in the book (and musical) they run an inn in the town of Montfermeil. It is here where a working class girl named Fantine asks them to look after her daughter Cosette, providing that she pays them regularly. However, they treat Cosette very badly, dressing her in rags, forcing her to work, and beating her often. They spend all the money Fantine sends them on their daughters. Then Jean Valjean buys Cosette off them at the dying Fantine's request and they leave to Paris. Within the next eight years the Thénardiers lose their inn and they too move to Paris, where they live in poverty. They re-encounter Valjean and Cosette and with the help of Patron-Minette try to rob Valjean.

  Éponine Thénardier ( /ˈɛpɵniːn tɨˈnɑrdi.eɪ/; French: [epɔnin tenaʁdje]; c.1815-1832), also referred to as the "Jondrette girl", is a fictional character in the 1862 novel Les Misérables by Victor Hugo.
  As children, Éponine and her younger sister Azelma are described as pretty, well-dressed, charming and a delight to see. They are pampered and spoiled by their parents the Thénardiers. Following their parents example, they tease and mistreat Cosette.
  As an adolescent, Éponine and her family descend into poverty due to the bankruptcy of her parents' inn. Éponine becomes a "pale, puny, meagre creature," with a hoarse voice like "a drunken galley slave’s" due to it being "roughened by brandy and by liquors." She now wears dirty and tattered clothing that consists of a chemise and a skirt. She also has missing teeth, mangled hair, bony shoulders, heavy brooding drooping eyes, and a premature-aging face with only a trace of beauty lingering.
