Steve Kipner is a multi-platinum-selling songwriter and record producer with hits spanning over a 40 year history, including chart-topping songs such as Olivia Newton-John's "Physical", Chicago's Grammy-nominated "Hard Habit to Break", "Genie in a Bottle" by Christina Aguilera, for which he won an Ivor Novello Award for International Hit of the Year, Natasha Bedingfield's "These Words",^[1] "The Hardest Thing" by 98 Degrees, "He Loves U Not" by Dream, "Stole" by Destiny Child's Kelly Rowland, The Script's "Breakeven" and "The Man Who Can't Be Moved", and most recently, American Idol Season 8 Winner Kris Allen's first single debut "Live Like We're Dying," and "Fight for This Love"^[2] by Great Britain's Cheryl Cole.

"Fight for This Love" reached #1 on the UK singles chart and became the fastest-selling single of 2009 with 292,846 sales in its first week.^[3]

"Physical" was ranked by Billboard in 2008 as the No. 6 song among all songs that charted in the 50-year history of the Hot 100.^[4] Steve is also a director and shareholder in Phonogenic Records, a UK-based joint-venture record label with Sony Music, featuring artists such as Natasha Bedingfield and The Script.

Over the years, Steve has created songs for some of music industry's biggest artists including Heart, Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, The Temptations, America, Cheap Trick, LFO, Westlife, Huey Lewis & the News, Joe Cocker, Al Jarreau, Rod Stewart, and American Idol's (Season 7) David Archuleta. Early history[link]

Steve began his music career where he grew up in Brisbane, Australia. Steve & The Board,^[6] Steve's first band, achieved Australian chart success with the song "Giggle Eyed Goo,"^[7] co-written by his father Nat Kipner and released on Spin Records in 1966.^[8] As a result of his father's A&R involvement in Spin Records, the members of Steve & the Board became good friends with The Bee Gees, who were also on the label.^[8]

Steve & The Board broke up in early 1967. Steve then formed a duo with Australian Steve Groves, and relocated to England in 1968 where they recorded an unsuccessful LP as "Steve & Stevie" (Toast Records). Then they renamed themselves Tin Tin, signed to the Robert Stigwood Organization, and scored an international hit -including an American Top 20 placing- with their 1971 single, "Toast and Marmalade for Tea," which was produced by Maurice Gibb of The Bee Gees. The song's success led to TinTin supporting the Bee Gees on their American tour in 1972.

"Have You Heard The Word" regularly appeared on Beatles Bootleg albums as what was thought of as a long lost Beatles recording, but it was in fact Steve Kipner, Steve Groves, Maurice Gibb and Lulu's brother Billie Lawrie clowning around in a TinTin recording session.

Steve moved from London to California in 1974 and was a member of the bands "Friends"(MGM), "Skyband"(RCA), and "Think out Loud"(A&M). Steve then recorded the solo album Knock the Walls Down^[9] in 1979. While writing and recording for his own album, Steve came in contact with other artists who developed an interest in his songs for their albums, and accidentally fell into a songwriting career as more and more opportunities arose. Writing for others at this stage triggered the start of his songwriting career. During which time he met Australian manager Roger Davies, who in the early 1980s was working for Olivia Newton-John's manager Lee Kramer. Steve had co-written a song with English songwriter Terry Shaddick entitled "Let's Get Physical," and played the demo to Roger, imagining the song would be great for a male singer like Rod Stewart. Lee Kramer overheard the song from the next room and thought it would be a way to promote another one of his clients (Mr. Universe) by having him appear with Olivia on her album cover. Retitled "Physical," the song spent ten weeks at #1 on the American charts and was a worldwide hit and ultimately ranked as the biggest song of the decade. It also marked a controversial moment in Newton-John's career when Kipner/Shaddick's suggestive lyrics caused the song to be banned in Utah and South Africa.

1998–2000[link]

Brothers Steve and Joe Wall (previously of The Stunning) returned to Ireland after a two-year failed label stint in London. Their Camden housemate Carl Harms joined the band on guitar and keyboard duties. Drummer Rory Doyle joined soon afterwards. They set up their own label, Earshot Records (later changing it to Dirtbird Records) and recorded and released a string of singles. A remix of one of the album tracks, "Bone Deep", clicked with radio and became a nationwide hit. Many of the songs have featured on a number of TV series and feature films such as Bachelors Walk, Dead Bodies, Goldfish Memory and On the Edge (starring Cillian Murphy).

2001–2004[link]

The Walls heard rumour of a second Slane Castle date for U2 (as the first concert had sold out in hours). They sent four copies of their album to the band. Bono loved it and offered The Walls a support slot. That day the band played to their biggest crowd to date – around 80,000 people. "To the Bright and Shining Sun" was their next single. That June they supported Red Hot Chili Peppers. They spent the next year gigging while building their own studio in Dublin.

In February 2004, original member Carl Harms decided to leave the band to make his own record. They recruited bassist Jon O’Connell, who had just 2 weeks to learn all the songs before a two week tour of the new EU accession states: Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. "To the Bright and Shining Sun" also featured on the EA Sports soundtrack for the UEFA Euro 2004 official licenced game.

2004 - 2006[link]

For the next album, the band went to Studio Black Box in France to record with producer and ex-The Frames guitarist David Odlum. Originally scheduled for a release date in September 2004, The Walls decided to hold their album until the new year. U2 were releasing How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb that autumn and according to Steve "we thought that it would be a fair and gentlemanly gesture to stand back and give them a fair crack of the whip, so to speak".^{[citation needed]}

In October 2004, they released a taster - "Drowning Pool" - a blistering, spleen-venting, blues explosion, 2min 52sec long. It took people by surprise and divided opinion - exactly what the band wanted. They supported Bob Dylan to a capacity crowd in Galway that summer and played a storming set that showed there were changes afoot in The Walls sound. They christened the album New Dawn Breaking after the final track on the record. It went straight into the Irish charts at No. 5 in its first week of release in June 2005 and has produced four hit singles: "To the Bright and Shining Sun", "Passing Through", "Drowning Pool" and "Black and Blue".

2007[link]

The band kicked off 2007 with a gig in Dubai and are presently negotiating gig offers in France, Italy, the Czech Republic and China. They also supported Crowded House on their Australian comeback tour before retreating into their studio to work on album number three.

2010 - 2012[link]

In 2010, the double A-side "Carrying The Fire"/"Phantom Power" was released. Following this, in March 2011, the "Bird In A Cage" EP was released, of which the title track was revealed to also be on the bands forthcoming album "Stop The Lights", which is to be released in 2012. Following this announcement, the band's new single "Stop The Lights" was released in January 2012. The band are currently using the innovative "Fund It" in order to finish their third album. The welcome newcomer Kevin Crowley from Newcastle West playing the spoons.

Jay Graydon is a Los Angeles songwriter, recording artist, guitarist, singer, producer, arranger, and recording engineer. He is the winner of two Grammy Awards (in the R&B category) with twelve Grammy nominations, among them the title "Producer of the Year" and "Best Engineered Recording". Jay Graydon has mastered many different styles and genres. In his career his recordings have been featured on record, film, television, and on stage.

Graydon made his singing debut on his second birthday on the "Joe Graydon Show," the first music/talk television show in Los Angeles, hosted by his father, Joe Graydon.

During and for a brief time after his college days Jay Graydon played in the Don Ellis Band, whose style can be described as experimental post-bop jazz. He can be heard on the live double album "Don Ellis at Fillmore".

From the late 60s to the late 70s he was a session musician in Los Angeles, working with such artists as Gino Vannelli, Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, The Jackson Five, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick,Al Jarreau, Christopher Cross, Ray Charles, Cher, Joe Cocker, Marvin Gaye, Hall & Oates, Olivia Newton-John, and Albert King. Peter Beckett (born 10 August 1948, Liverpool) is an English musician and songwriter who has recorded written songs for many prominent recording artists and for several films, as well as produced solo work. He is best known as the lead singer and guitarist for 1970s soft rock group Player, which scored a U.S. #1 hit in 1977 with "Baby Come Back".

Beckett was born in the Aigburth district of Liverpool, England. He was greatly influenced by seeing the Beatles perform at the famous Cavern Club. At 16, he recorded his first record, "All Night Stand", with a band called The Thoughts. "One Night Stand" was written by Ray Davies from The Kinks. He then joined a band called Winston G and The Wicked, later renamed Whip. After they disbanded, Beckett auditioned for Badfinger on the heels of "Come and Get It", and was on Peter Ham's and Tommy Evans' short list, but the job was offered to Joey Molland instead. Beckett then joined a progressive rock band called Paladin, recording two albums called Paladin and Paladin Charge!.

Moving to Los Angeles, California in 1974 he joined Skyband before hooking up with JC Crowley, Ronn Moss, and John Friesen in 1976 to form Player. Player enjoyed a Number One hit in 1978 with "Baby Come Back" - voted most annoying record of 1978 by SpinIn magazine's yearly reader's poll.

After recording four albums, Player split up and Beckett began writing songs for other recording artists such as Olivia Newton-John, The Temptations and Kenny Rogers as well as music for films and television throughout the 1980s. In 1991, Peter released his first solo CD called Beckett, a combination of rock, pop, AOR tunes. Peter also joined up with Little River Band in 1989 and toured with them for eight years.

Getting back together with Ronn Moss in 1995, they recorded Player's fifth album, Lost in Reality and toured the United States. Since then, Peter has produced, written and played on two solo CDs for Ronn Moss and composed music for a television show: The Bold And The Beautiful. Beckett and Ronn Moss had a world tour in 2006 as well as some dates in the United States. Beckett is also working on a second solo CD and continues to write film scores as well as material for other artists.

Matthew James Morrison (born October 30, 1978) is an American actor, dancer, musician, and singer-songwriter. He is best known for starring in multiple Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, including his portrayal of Link Larkin in Hairspray on Broadway, and most notably for his Emmy and Golden Globe nominated role as Will Schuester on the Fox television show Glee (2009–present). He has also received a Satellite Award for this role.

Early life[link]

Matthew Morrison was born in Fort Ord, California, and raised in Orange County, and is of Scottish heritage.^[1] He was part of the Collaborative Arts Project 21 (CAP21) and the Orange County High School of the Arts, while at the Los Alamitos High School campus. While in high school, he did a musical with actress Jodie Sweetin.^[2] He attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for two years before dropping out and joining the Broadway adaptation of Footloose.^[3]

By freshman year of college Morrison already was a regular performer on Broadway. He states in Details "There were all these beautiful, beautiful dancers. As a straight guy I had some room. There were the shared interests in singing and dancing, and I always find dancing with someone very erotic and sexual. I definitely hooked up with a lot of girls when I was a young guy on Broadway. It was fun, I guess. Very joyous and free."^[4]

Career[link]

Morrison's career began when he made his musical theatre debut on Broadway in the musical version of Footloose, followed by a revival of The Rocky Horror Show in 2002. His big break came, however, when he landed the role of Link Larkin in the Broadway production of John Waters', Hairspray. After performing in the role for some time, he started working in television, guest-starring on shows such as Ghost Whisperer, Numb3rs, CSI: Miami and Hack. He also had small roles in films such as Marci X, Primary Colors, Music and Lyrics, and Simply Funk. He followed up these performances by performing the role of Sir Harry in the ABC-TV production of Once Upon a Mattress, starring Tracey Ullman and Carol Burnett.

In 2001, Morrison was recruited to complete the quartet for the band LMNT. He was replaced instead by Jonas Persch by the time their first album was released. He commented in an interview about his experience in the boy band by remarking, "It was the worst year of my life. You know when you're a performer and you're out there on stage and you're embarrassed that you're doing something wrong. It was pretty bad." Matthew Morrison also was a member of Buena Park Youth theater. Located at Buena Park ^[5]

Morrison starred in the Original Cast of the musical Hairspray as Link Larkin from its opening in 2002 through January 2004.^[6]

In 2005 Morrison changed gears, playing the role of Fabrizio Nacarelli in Adam Guettel's The Light in the Piazza.^[6] He was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance.^[7] He left the show August 28, 2005.^[7]

Morrison joined the cast of the CBS soap opera, As the World Turns, as Adam Munson on October 24, 2006,^[8] but left abruptly soon after due to a "scheduling conflict," last airing on the soap on November 27.

Morrison appeared in a benefit performance celebrating Andrew Lippa, and the 25th Anniversary of the performing troupe 'The Kids in the Hall' at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, California in December 2006. The performance benefited The California Conservatory of the Arts, a non-profit arts education organization focusing on pre-professional training for young students, grades six through twelve, in Orange County, California.

He earned a Drama Desk Nomination for his role in the Off Broadway show 10 Million Miles which ran at the Atlantic Theater Company in 2007. That same year he appeared in two films: Dan in Real Life, followed by Music and Lyrics as Cora Corman's manager.

In 2008 he played Lieutenant Cable in a Lincoln Center production of the musical South Pacific. He left the production at the end of 2008 and in early 2009 returned to California to shoot the first season of Glee.^[9]

Morrison plays Will Schuester in the Fox Broadcasting television series Glee, which had its television preview on May 19, 2009. He resumed his role in the show as the series premiered on September 9, 2009. He plays a high school Spanish teacher who takes on the task of restoring the school's glee club to its former glory. Morrison also appeared in the show's second season. He returned for the third season, which premiered on September 20, 2011.^[10] He will be making his directorial debut in the third season's ninth episode.

In addition on January 14, 2010, it was announced that Morrison signed a solo record deal with Mercury Records. His first studio album was released on May 10, 2011. Morrison duets with Elton John on "a medley of 'Mona Lisas and Madhatters' going into 'Rocket Man'".^[11] His first single, "Summer Rain", premiered on Ryan Seacrest's website on February 28, 2011.^[12] Additionally, a duet of "Over the Rainbow" with Gwyneth Paltrow appears on the self-titled album.^[13]

On June 16, 2010, Morrison joined Leona Lewis — appearing at London's O2 Arena as part of her world tour — for a one-off performance to sing "Over the Rainbow". Morrison was on the cover of the June 2011 issue of MetroSource.

In March 2012, Morrison was featured in a performance of Dustin Lance Black's play, '8' — a staged reenactment of the federal trial that overturned California's Prop 8 ban on same-sex marriage — as Paul Katami.^[14] The production was held at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre and broadcast on YouTube to raise money for the American Foundation for Equal Rights.^[15][16]
