  California (pronounced ⁱ/kælɨˈfɔrnjə/) is a state located on the West Coast of the United States. It is by far the most populous U.S. state, and the third most extensive (after Alaska and Texas). It is home to the nation's second- and sixth-largest census statistical areas (Los Angeles Metropolitan Area and San Francisco Bay Area), and eight of the nation's fifty most populated cities (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach and Oakland). The capital city is Sacramento.
  California's diverse geography ranges from the Pacific Coast in the west, to the Sierra Nevada mountains in the east – from the Redwood–Douglas-fir forests of the northwest, to the Mojave Desert areas in the southeast. The center of the state is dominated by Central Valley, a major agricultural area. California contains both the highest and lowest points in the contiguous United States (Mount Whitney and Death Valley), and has the third-longest coastline of all states (after Alaska and Florida). Earthquakes are a common occurrence due to the state's location along the Pacific Ring of Fire: about 37,000 are recorded annually.

  Goleta, California
  Goleta ( /ɡəˈliːtə/; Spanish: [ɡoˈleta], "schooner") is a city in southern Santa Barbara County, California, USA. It was incorporated as a city in 2002, after a long period as the largest unincorporated, populated area in the county. As of the 2000 census, the Census-designated place (CDP) had a total population of 55,204, however, a significant portion of the census territory of 2000 did not incorporate into the new city. The population was 29,888 at the 2010 census.
  It is known for being near the University of California, Santa Barbara campus, although the CDP of Isla Vista is closer to the campus.
  The area of present-day Goleta was populated for thousands of years by the native Chumash people. Locally they were known by the first European settlers as Canaliños (for the canoes they built for travel to the Channel Islands). One of the largest villages, S'axpilil, was north of the Goleta Slough, not far from the present-day Santa Barbara Airport.
  The first European visitor was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, who sailed past in 1542. During the 1980s, discovery of some 16th-century cannon on the beach led to the advancement of a theory that Sir Francis Drake sailed into the Goleta Slough in 1579, where he may have spent several weeks repairing his ship.

  Buckwild is a Hip hop producer hailing from The Bronx, New York. Originally a DJ, Buck began producing after meeting MC/Producer Lord Finesse. He later joined Finesse's super-crew D.I.T.C., along with Showbiz and A.G., Diamond D, Fat Joe, and the late Big L and brought O.C. with him. His first released production came in 1993, the posse-cut "Shit Is Real (You Can't Front)" featuring Diamond D, Lord Finesse and Sadat X; a B-side to Diamond & The Psychotic Neurotics's "!*! What U Heard".
  His first major exposure came when he produced the majority of O.C.'s 1994 underground classic Word...Life, most notably the single "Time's Up". The same year, he produced 3 songs for Organized Konfusion's second album Stress: The Extinction Agenda, as well as a track for Brand Nubian's Everything Is Everything album. He also produced 3 songs for Artifacts on their 1994 album Between a Rock and a Hard Place. Buck continued his exposure in 1995, producing on a number of hailed underground albums, including Big L's Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous, AZ's Doe Or Die, Kool G Rap's 4,5,6, and Mic Geronimo's The Natural. He also became known for being one of the most active remixers in hip-hop music at the time, remixing singles for Guru, Beastie Boys/Q-Tip, Channel Live/KRS-One, Kool Keith and many others.

  Chris Shiflett
  Christopher Aubrey "Chris" Shiflett (born May 6, 1971 in Santa Barbara, California) is best known as the lead guitarist for the rock band Foo Fighters since 1999, as well as the punk rock cover band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. He is the younger brother of musician Scott Shiflett.
  Shiflett was the resident lead guitarist for the San Francisco Bay Area punk rock band No Use for a Name, when a friend announced that Guns N' Roses was auditioning for a guitarist. Shiflett asked his friend to instead get him an audition for the Foo Fighters, that after recording There Is Nothing Left to Lose as a trio held open auditions to hire another guitarist. Dave Grohl said part of his motivation to hire Shiflett was that he had a history in the underground punk scene, including opening for Grohl's former band Scream as bassist of the group Rat Pack. After being hired, Shiflett played on the tour for There Is Nothing Left to Lose, and all subsequent studio albums starting with One by One. Shiflett has declared that he was afraid of being fired even before he started to play with the band, as previous guitarist Pat Smear had declared interest to rejoin (Smear eventually got back with the band as a fifth member in 2005).

  Dave Raun (born June 7, 1970) a resident of Fresno, California, is the drummer for the seminal California punk rock band Lagwagon. He also filled in on drums for a short period for Sean "SC" Sellers of Good Riddance. Additionally, Raun drums for the punk rock cover band/supergroup Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, with fellow Lagwagon member Joey Cape. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes also features members of NOFX, Swingin' Utters, and Foo Fighters. Raun, a native of San Mateo, CA. began his career in the mid to late '80's drumming in numerous bands before joining California hardcore punk band Rich Kids on LSD in the early '90's. Raun joined Lagwagon in 1996, replacing original drummer Derrick Plourde. Most recently, he has been seen drumming for Hot Water Music. Dave is married to Laura Slippy.

  Derrick William Plourde (October 17, 1971 – March 30, 2005) was a drummer who was born in Goleta, California. Active between 1989 and his unexpected death in 2005, he was a former member of Lagwagon, Bad Astronaut, Jaws, The Ataris, Mad Caddies, Rich Kids on LSD, and others. Suspected as bipolar and battling drug addiction, Derrick committed suicide by gunshot on March 30, 2005.
  His former band, Lagwagon, produced a tribute album titled Resolve in his honor. He is also mentioned in the NOFX song "Doornails", on their Wolves in Wolves' Clothing album.
  He also drummed for Mad Caddies in Rock The Plank. The Mad Caddies song Don't Go is possibly a tribute to him.

  Fat Mike
  Michael John Burkett (born January 31, 1967 in Newton, Massachusetts), better known as Fat Mike is an American musician, producer, lead vocalist, and bassist for the punk rock band NOFX, as well as bassist for the punk rock supergroup cover band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
  The moniker "Fat Mike" was given to Mike by friends after he returned from college and it was evident that he had gained a little weight. While attending Fairfax High School, Mike began his musical career with the band False Alarm. After the band split up in 1983, he met Eric Melvin and Erik Sandin and formed the original line-up of NOFX.
  Mike is the owner and founder of Fat Wreck Chords, one of the biggest independent labels in North America. He was also the founder of the Rock Against Bush tour. The purpose was to encourage young Americans to vote George W. Bush out of office in 2004.
  Mike recently recorded the "Cokie the Clown" EP with NOFX, playing Cokie on both the cover of the EP and the music video for the title-track, "Cokie the Clown". In the video, Mike dresses as Cokie and puts white powder into his squirting flower, representing cocaine. Cokie then walks around Chicago squirting powder in pedestrians' faces, as chronicled in the song itself. The video was shot during the punk music festival, Riot Fest, in October 2009.

• Joey Cape
  Randal "Joey" Cape (born November 16, 1966) is an American singer, songwriter and producer. Active since 1989, Cape is best known as the frontman of the seminal California punk rock band Lagwagon.
  Cape released his first solo album, Bridge, on October 21, 2008 on Suburban Home Records. His second album Doesn't Play Well with Others, was released on February 2011, after he released each song on the album each month of 2010, collecting them all on CD and vinyl in the end of 2010.
  In addition to his work with Lagwagon, he was the lead vocalist for the experimental band Bad Astronaut until they disbanded due to death of drummer Derrick Plourde and is also a guitarist in the cover band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. In addition, Joey Cape released a split CD with Tony Sly of No Use for a Name, featuring acoustic versions of Lagwagon and No Use For a Name songs. Both Cape and Sly also contributed one unreleased/new song to the split. Cape's was entitled, 'Violet', a song written for his daughter of the same name. He has also contributed a song called 'Minus' for the album Protect: A Benefit for the National Association to Protect Children.

  Ken Stringfellow
  Kenneth Stuart Stringfellow (born October 30, 1968) is an American musician, best known for his work with The Posies, R.E.M., and the re-formed Big Star.
  His association with R.E.M. extends to the mid-90s Seattle scene, where he first met guitarist Peter Buck, with whom he also plays in Scott McCaughey's The Minus 5. Ken also spent time recording and touring with Lagwagon in the late-1990's, during which he helped craft 1997's Double Plaidinum, adding a unique flair to the band's high-paced melodic brand of punk rock. He has also formed a new band with three Norwegian musicians from the band Briskeby, called The Disciplines.
  He has released three solo albums: This Sounds Like Goodbye (1997, on the Hidden Agenda label), Touched (2001, on Manifesto Records), and Soft Commands (2004, on Yep Roc Records) as well as an EP with covers by other artists, The Sellout Cover Sessions Vol. 1 (2008, on Sellout Records). Touched was also released outside the United States by Pop Tones with different cover artwork; the Japanese release contains a bonus track (a cover of Robyn Hitchcock's "Airscape"). An international version of Soft Commands was released by Rykodisc; it has the same cover artwork, but contains four bonus tracks (covers of "Never My Love" by The Association, "Down to the Wire" by Neil Young, "New Test Leper" by R.E.M., and "Knocks Me Off My Feet" by Stevie Wonder). In 2003, Stringfellow and Jon Auer released Private Sides, a six-song split EP (Arena Rock Recording Co./Rykodisc).

  Lindsay McAllister M "The Doctor" McDougall (born 3 March 1978) is an Australian rock guitarist and radio presenter. Since 1996, he has been the lead guitarist in punk rock band, Frenzal Rhomb alongside lead singer Jay Whalley. He has co-written songs with fellow band members including their highest charting single, "You Are Not My Friend". During 2003 McDougall organised Rock Against Howard, a compilation album, by various Australian musicians as a protest against incumbent Prime Minister, John Howard's government. It was released in August 2004, before the October federal election, Howard's coalition was re-elected. In 2005, with Whalley, he co-hosted the Breakfast Show on national youth radio network Triple J, as Jay and the Doctor. In 2008, after Whalley left, he worked with Robbie Buck and Marieke Hardy. Since 2010 he has moved to the afternoon programme, Drive. McDougall is an animal rights activist and a vegan.
  Lindsay McAllister M McDougall was born on 3 March 1978 and grew up in Sydney, Australia. His mother owns a health food store and he has younger twin brothers (born c. 1980). At 14 years old, he started playing guitar and his early influences were Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, The Meanies and Cosmic Psychos. He played in high school bands, Time Bandits followed by Negla Delta from year 7 to year 10.

  Rancid (band)
  Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, California in 1991. Founded by 80s punk veterans Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, both of whom previously played in the highly influential ska punk band Operation Ivy, Rancid is credited—along with Green Day and The Offspring—for reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. Unlike Green Day and The Offspring however, Rancid remained signed to an independent record label and retained much of its original fan-base, most of which was connected to its underground roots.
  Rancid includes Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on drums. The band was formed by Armstrong, Freeman, and former drummer Brett Reed, who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Steineckert. Frederiksen joined Rancid in 1993 when the band was searching for a second guitar player.
  To date, Rancid has released seven studio albums, one split album, one compilation, two extended plays, and a series of live online-only albums, and has been featured on a number of compilation albums. The band has independently sold over four million records worldwide, making it one of the most successful independent punk groups of all time. The band rose to fame in 1994 with its second studio album, Let's Go, featuring the single "Salvation". In the following year, Rancid released its highly successful album ...And Out Come the Wolves, which produced its best-known songs "Roots Radicals", "Ruby Soho" and "Time Bomb", and was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA, selling over one million copies in the United States alone. Its next four albums, Life Won't Wait, Rancid, Indestructible and Let the Dominoes Fall, were also critically acclaimed, though not as successful as ...And Out Come the Wolves. Rancid is currently working on an eighth studio album, which is said to be recorded in September 2011, and expected to be released in 2012.

  Scott David Shiflett (August 22, 1966) is a bassist. He plays with the band Face to Face and is also associated with the bands Viva Death,Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and Jackson United (a band founded by his brother Chris who is best known as the lead guitarist for the Foo Fighters). He also played on 22 Jacks debut album Uncle Bob. He was a fill-in in for The Offspring bassist Greg K during a handful of dates in June 2008. As a long time friend of Joey Cape of Lagwagon, Scott filled in for Chris Flippin on guitar for the Canadian leg of Lagwagon's tour in support of their August 2008 EP release "I think my older brother used to listen to Lagwagon".

• Tony Sly
  Anthony J. Sly (born November 4, 1970) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist, best known as the frontman of seminal punk rock band No Use for a Name. Most recently, he is also known for his acoustic solo career, with one acoustic split album he released with Lagwagon frontman Joey Cape and two solo albums of his own.
  Tony Sly joined No Use for a Name in 1989, when he was 18 and a half years old. He was the vocalist and lead guitarist. Their first album Incognito was released in 1990 on the label New Red Archives and featured a heavy but melodic hardcore punk sound. The band's second album Don't Miss the Train was released in 1992 and featured a much more melodic hardcore sound.
  The band's third album ¡Leche con Carne!, which was released in 1995, was their debut on Fat Wreck Chords, though they released an EP entitled The Daily Grind on the label back in 1993. The album marked a change of musical style going from hardcore punk more into punk rock and skate punk. Also in 1993, guitarist Robin Pfefer has replaced Chris Dodge and took the position of the lead guitarist, allowing Tony Sly to focus on singing and playing rhythm guitar instead.
