Pete Drake
Roddis Franklin "Pete" Drake (October 8, 1932 – July 29, 1988) was a major Nashville-based record producer and pedal steel guitar player.
One of the most sought-after backup musicians of the 1960s, Drake played on such hits as Lynn Anderson's "Rose Garden", Charlie Rich's "Behind Closed Doors"' Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay"' and Tammy Wynette's "Stand by Your Man". (Drake's work on this last tune is debatable, in that some sources claim Sonny Garrish to be the steel guitar player on that record. However, most of the evidence points to Drake being the steel player on Wynette's huge hit.)
Career
Drake was born in Augusta, Georgia, the son of a Pentecostal preacher, in 1932. In 1950 he drove to Nashville, heard Jerry Byrd on the Grand Ole Opry, and was inspired to buy a steel guitar. Later in the 1950s he organized the country music band Sons of the South in Atlanta, Georgia, which included future country stars like Jerry Reed, Doug Kershaw, Roger Miller, Jack Greene, and Joe South.
In 1959 he moved to Nashville, joined the The Nashville A-Team, and went on the road as a backup musician for Don Gibson, Marty Robbins. and others. In 1964 he had an international hit on Smash Records with his "talking steel guitar" playing on the album Still.

Steel guitar
Steel guitar is a type of guitar or the method of playing the instrument. Developed in Hawaii in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a steel guitar is usually positioned horizontally; strings are plucked with one hand, while the other hand changes the pitch of one or more strings with the use of a bar or slide called a steel (generally made of metal, but also of glass or other materials). The earliest use of an electrified steel guitar was first made in the early 1930s by Bob Dunn of Milton Brown and His Brownies, the original Western Swing Band from Fort Worth, Texas; the instrument was perfected in the mid to late 1930s by Fort Worth's Leon McAluff, who played for Western Swing's greatest band ever, Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. Nashville later picked up the use of the steel guitar in the early days of the late 1940s and early 1950s "Honky Tonk" country & western music with a number of fine steel guitarists backing names like Hank Williams, Lefty Frizell and Webb Pierce. The term steel guitar is often mistakenly used to describe any metal body resophonic guitar.

Tales of the Night
Tales of the Night (French: Les Contes de la nuit) is a 1992 French silhouette animation television specialwritten and directed by Michel Ocelot. It aired on Canal+ in France, ZDF in Germany and Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. It is a trilogy of three further fairy tales in much the same format as Ciné si.
Plot
A boy, a girl and an old technician get together in an abandoned cinema to invent stories, the boy and the girl play after then made costumes. The three stories are "La Belle Fille et le sorcier" ("The Pretty Girl and the Sorcerer"), "Bergère qui danse" ("The Dancing Shepherdess") and "Le Prince des joyaux" ("The Prince of Jewels"). Unlike La Princesse insensible and Ciné si, Les Contes is on 35 mm film.
Release
"Le Prince des joyaux" was also shown in French cinemas in 1994 (and later released on VHS) as part of the Folimage-organised package film Le Petit Cirque et autres contes. All three individual segments (though still lacking the original opening, ending and bridging segments) were made available on DVD-Video with the release of Les Trésors cachés de Michel Ocelot in 2008.

In May 2010, Artists Jean-Pierre Roy and Michael Kagan hosted an unusual exhibition in their Brooklyn studio. Open to all artists who wanted to participate, "Single Fare" placed one constraint on the creative process: all work had to be submitted on a used MetroCard. Inspired by the notion that the city's subways and buses allow for a kind of creative interchange unmatched in human history, "Single Fare" sought to create a unique art event where art and artists could come together to form a monumental event made from a tiny, innocuous piece of plastic: The MetroCard! The resulting exhibition featured over 700 works of art -- from artists as far away as New Zealand and as close as the studio next door. Following the tremendous success of last year's "Single Fare," Roy and Kagan team up with Sloan Fine Art on the Lower East Side for "Single Fare 2: Please Swipe Again." The themes of last year's show ran the gamut from moments of high abstraction to delicate portraiture. Three-dimensional works, documentary photography and even a video installation helped to create one of the most cohesively diverse shows in recent memory while playfully challenging artists to show what they can do with seven square inches. While serving as a democratizing vehicle for artists of all ages and disciplines, the Single Fare exhibition also served as a fantastic platform to introduce beginning collectors to an amazing array of work while inviting the committed collector to connect to artists that might normally fall under their radar. As a pop group, Metronomy that are more Four Tet than Fab Four, though with a sense of adventure that would've made the Fabs proud. For pure pop, they don't come more refined than Alan Parson's 'Eye In The Sky', who is buffeted by outbreaks of unsettling weirdness, among them the sadly departed Mick Karn's supple bass figurines on 'Weather The Windmill' or Tonto's Expanding Head Band -- the guys that brought the funk to synthesizers with Stevie Wonder -- and 'Cybernaut'. And just when you think you've got it figured, Pete Drake arrives with his 1964 pedal steel novelty hit 'Forever'. This is a maze rather than a journey. Naturally enough, there is the Late Night Tales special with a sparkling Metronomy rendition of Jean-Michel Jarre's 'Hypnose'. We've always had a soft spot for Devon and her cobbled street delights, but seen through the prism of Joseph Mount, it takes on a new hue that makes Brigitte Bardot and that other, lesser, Riviera seem somehow pallid. To paraphrase Buzzcocks: another music in a different riviera. -

Plot: Peter Drake meets and falls in love with Jackie Swazey, the daughter of a feisty suffragette and incipient politician. In order to impress her, he agrees to help Mrs Swazey in her campaign to become elected. His first task is a difficult one - Mrs Swazey's ticket is Prohibition, and her husband, Jackie's Pa, is little more than a drunk. Instead of reforming him, Peter gets on with Pa Swazey like a house on fire, and they end up drunk and in jail! Fortunately the are helped out by a man named Mike Clancey. Unfortunately, he is Mrs Swazey's main opponent in the election - and the price he demands for his help is her elimination from the race. Peter comes up with the perfect solution: he spikes her drink at a Prohibition rally and gets her drunk! Before she sobers up and the sparks fly, Jackie and Peter elope.

Sloan Fine Art is pleased to host "Single Fare 2: Please Swipe Again" a very special exhibition of works on used NYC MetroCards with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Transportation Alternatives (transalt.org) and Alliance for the Arts' NYC ARTS (NYC-ARTS.org).
In May 2010, Artists Jean-Pierre Roy and Michael Kagan hosted an unusual exhibition in their Brooklyn studio. Open to all artists who wanted to participate, "Single Fare" placed one constraint on the creative process: all work had to be submitted on a used MetroCard. Inspired by the notion that the city's subways and buses allow for a kind of creative interchange unmatched in human history, "Single Fare" sought to create a unique art event where art and artists could come together to form a monumental event made from a tiny, innocuous piece of plastic: The MetroCard! The resulting exhibition featured over 700 works of art -- from artists as far away as New Zealand and as close as the studio next door.
Following the tremendous success of last year's "Single Fare," Roy and Kagan team up with Sloan Fine Art on the Lower East Side for "Single Fare 2: Please Swipe Again." The themes of last year's show ran the gamut from moments of high abstraction to delicate portraiture. Three-dimensional works, documentary photography and even a video installation helped to create one of the most cohesively diverse shows in recent memory while playfully challenging artists to show what they can do with seven square inches.
While serving as a democratizing vehicle for artists of all ages and disciplines, the Single Fare exhibition also served as a fantastic platform to introduce beginning collectors to an amazing array of work while inviting the committed collector to connect to artists that might normally fall under their radar. Partnering with Sloan Fine Art represents an exciting step forward for the Single Fare experience, allowing the exhibition to remain true to its roots while benefitting from additional exhibition days and regular gallery hours.

Metronomy, the effective alias of the talented Joseph Mount, have thus far released three albums, starting with the jagged electro manoeuvres of their debut 'Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe)', through to their two albums on Because, 'Nights Out', where Mount first sang, and last year's brilliant Mercury-nominated 'The English Riviera'. As a pop group, Metronomy that are more Four Tet than Fab Four, though with a sense of adventure that would've made the Fabs proud.
Their outing under the Late Night Tales banner journeys through the inspirations of the bands' ever moving sound -- along with a few surprises. Mount's old favourite Autechre is present and correct, but then so are Kate and Anna McGarrigle and the Sun Ra of hip hop Sa-Ra Creative Partners. Joining Sa-Ra on the hip hop front, we've got Tweet's ace 'Drunk' from her Hummingbird album alongside OutKast 'Prototype', spiced with some Doctor Octagon.
For pure pop, they don't come more refined than Alan Parson's 'Eye In The Sky', who is buffeted by outbreaks of unsettling weirdness, among them the sadly departed Mick Karn's supple bass figurines on 'Weather The Windmill' or Tonto's Expanding Head Band -- the guys that brought the funk to synthesizers with Stevie Wonder -- and 'Cybernaut'.
And just when you think you've got it figured, Pete Drake arrives with his 1964 pedal steel novelty hit 'Forever'. This is a maze rather than a journey. Naturally enough, there is the Late Night Tales special with a sparkling Metronomy rendition of Jean-Michel Jarre's 'Hypnose'.
We've always had a soft spot for Devon and her cobbled street delights, but seen through the prism of Joseph Mount, it takes on a new hue that makes Brigitte Bardot and that other, lesser, Riviera seem somehow pallid. To paraphrase Buzzcocks: another music in a different riviera.

Diary of Fate is a horror program where “Fate”, played by Herbert Lytton, narrates a morality tale, and woe be to the person on the wrong end. This program plays the usual stories of murder, hitchhikers, blackmail, love gone wrong, and the guilty getting their just desserts. The character of Fate plays a bit more of a role than mere observer, he creates situations to force the protagonist into a choice. For the sake of the show, they always choose badly, and the audience gets to listen to their demise unfold.
The show aired from 1947 to 1948, only 24 episodes are known to survive. The show wasn't as successful as similar shows, like Inner Sanctum, but it did have a solid stars, including Lurene Tuttle, Larry Dobkin, Hal Sawyer, Gloria Blondell, Frank Albertson, Jerry Hausner, Howard McNear, Peter Leeds, Ken Peters, Daws Butler and William Johnstone.

Beaucoups of Blues is the second studio album by former Beatle Ringo Starr. It was released in September 1970, five months after his debut solo album, Sentimental Journey. However, Beaucoups of Blues is very far removed in style from its pop-based predecessor, relying on country and western influences. Still, like its predecessor, the album proved a moderate commercial success, reaching Billboard's number 35 slot on the Country Albums chart and number 65 on the Billboard 200 chart. During Ringo Starr's tenure with the Beatles he had dabbled with in country music: the band covered the country song «Act Naturally», and Starr co-wrote the country-influenced track «What Goes On» and wrote the country song «Don't Pass Me By». While playing on sessions for George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, Starr – a long-time country and western fan – met Pete Drake, in May 1970. Realising Drake's deep connection to country, Starr asked him if they could collaborate on an album together. Drake told Starr his musician friends could compose more than an album's worth of material in a week, which Starr thought was «impossible». Starr was very keen and agreed. Starr promptly flew to Nashville on 22 June. «Ringo Starr had a demonstrated affinity for country music, as heard on such Beatles recordings as «Act Naturally», and he sounded as modestly comfortable on this Nashville-recorded session as in any other musical context. The cream of the city's session players backed up the former Beatle on a set of newly written songs, and the result was a typical country effort, pleasant as long as you didn't expect too much. Of course, this was the second straight genre exercise for Starr, following his pop standards album Sentimental Journey, and now he had tackled two styles that depend on vocal stylists for much of their appeal. On both, Ringo was Ringo. But with the Beatles fading into history, his suddenly front-burner solo career was starting to look like a series of dabblings rather than a coherent follow-up to the group's success». While responding to questions during his interview on the iconic radio station Hot 97 Fm in New york, the famous rapper Wale who is a Nigerian/American Shaded Drake in his interview on Hot 97 fm. Wale was asked by the presenter if he is impressed with the way Drake incorporated Wizkid into his new album and he responded by saying "Drake sounds so much like wizkid in both the production, Lyrics and the way he raps in the song", and you could tell he doesn't see Drake as a good rapper who can hold down his own ground. Sloan Fine Art is pleased to host "Single Fare 2: Please Swipe Again" a very special exhibition of works on used NYC MetroCards with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Transportation Alternatives (transalt.org) and Alliance for the Arts' NYC ARTS (NYC-ARTS.org).
In May 2010, Artists Jean-Pierre Roy and Michael Kagan hosted an unusual exhibition in their Brooklyn studio. Open to all artists who wanted to participate, "Single Fare" placed one constraint on the creative process: all work had to be submitted on a used MetroCard. Inspired by the notion that the city's subways and buses allow for a kind of creative interchange unmatched in human history, "Single Fare" sought to create a unique art event where art and artists could come together to form a monumental event made from a tiny, innocuous piece of plastic: The MetroCard! The resulting exhibition featured over 700 works of art -- from artists as far away as New Zealand and as close as the studio next door.
Following the tremendous success of last year's "Single Fare," Roy and Kagan team up with Sloan Fine Art on the Lower East Side for "Single Fare 2: Please Swipe Again." The themes of last year's show ran the gamut from moments of high abstraction to delicate portraiture. Three-dimensional works, documentary photography and even a video installation helped to create one of the most cohesively diverse shows in recent memory while playfully challenging artists to show what they can do with seven square inches.
While serving as a democratizing vehicle for artists of all ages and disciplines, the Single Fare exhibition also served as a fantastic platform to introduce beginning collectors to an amazing array of work while inviting the committed collector to connect to artists that might normally fall under their radar. Partnering with Sloan Fine Art represents an exciting step forward for the Single Fare experience, allowing the exhibition to remain true to its roots while benefitting from additional exhibition days and regular gallery hours.

And just when you think you've got it figured, Pete Drake arrives with his 1964 pedal steel novelty hit 'Forever'. This is a maze rather than a journey. Naturally enough, there is the Late Night Tales special with a sparkling Metronomy rendition of Jean-Michel Jarre's 'Hypnose'.
We've always had a soft spot for Devon and her cobbled street delights, but seen through the prism of Joseph Mount, it takes on a new hue that makes Brigitte Bardot and that other, lesser, Riviera seem somehow pallid. To paraphrase Buzzcocks: another music in a different riviera.

Diary of Fate is a horror program where “Fate”, played by Herbert Lytton, narrates a morality tale, and woe be to the person on the wrong end. This program plays the usual stories of murder, hitchhikers, blackmail, love gone wrong, and the guilty getting their just desserts. The character of Fate plays a bit more of a role than mere observer, he creates situations to force the protagonist into a choice. For the sake of the show, they always choose badly, and the audience gets to listen to their demise unfold.
The show aired from 1947 to 1948, only 24 episodes are known to survive. The show wasn't as successful as similar shows, like Inner Sanctum, but it did have a solid stars, including Lurene Tuttle, Larry Dobkin, Hal Sawyer, Gloria Blondell, Frank Albertson, Jerry Hausner, Howard McNear, Peter Leeds, Ken Peters, Daws Butler and William Johnstone.

The characters in the stories always seem to make the wrong choice, and thereby assure their ultimate demise. Perhaps it's a hit and run driver, or a jealous husband who decides to eliminate his competition, or a man who murders his way to the top of the company. Whatever the scheme, you can rest assured that the cold blooded culprit will dish it out in full heaping servings before he is forced to get a taste of his own medicine. Airing on NBC Blue Network between September 6, 1947 to May 29, 1948. Produced by Larry Finlay and Herb Lytton, Larry Finlay also directed and Herb Lytton was "The Voice Of Fate" the show's special effects were by Ray Ehrlenborn, musical direction by Ivan Ditmars and the show's announcer was Hal Sawyer
