Kaplan Law School
Kaplan Law School is a for-profit educational institution offering post-graduate legal training in London for those wishing to become a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales.
Kaplan Law School was opened by the British arm of Kaplan Inc. in September 2007. It operates in partnership with Nottingham Law School by providing Nottingham's professional legal courses in central-London.
Kaplan Law School offers Nottingham Law School's Legal Practice Course (split into standard, commercial and corporate streams), Graduate Diploma in Law and Bar Professional Training Course (Bar Vocational Course). In addition, Kaplan allows students to obtain graduate-LL.B. and LL.M. degrees awarded by Nottingham Trent University (of which Nottingham Law School is a constituent part).
Kaplan Law School is the only institution authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority to offer the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test (QLTT). Passing the QLTT allows non-UK-registered lawyers to practice as solicitors in England and Wales.

Kaplan University
Kaplan University ("KU") is the "doing business as" (DBA) name of the Iowa College Acquisition Corporation, a company that owns and operates for-profit colleges. It is owned by Kaplan, Inc., a subsidiary of the Washington Post Company.
Kaplan University is predominantly a distance learning institution of higher education that is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). Andrew Rosen
Andrew S. Rosen is current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kaplan, Inc., a global education company that began as a test prep provider in 1938 and was purchased by The Washington Post Company in 1984. Rosen joined Kaplan in 1992 and was named Chairman and CEO in November 2008 following the resignation of long-time Chairman and CEO Jonathan Grayer.
Rosen joined The Washington Post Company in 1986 as a staff attorney for The Washington Post newspaper and moved to Newsweek as Assistant Counsel in 1988. When he moved to Kaplan, he served as Center Administrator, Regional Director, and Vice President for Field Management prior to assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer in 1997. He was then named President of Kaplan, Inc. in 2002 and later assumed responsibility for all of Kaplan’s higher education operations, including Kaplan University, Concord Law School and Kaplan Virtual Education. Under his leadership, Kaplan Higher Education has grown to account for half of Kaplan’s $2 billion revenue.

Eugene Meyer
Eugene Isaac Meyer (October 31, 1875 – July 17, 1959) was an American financier, public official, publisher of the Washington Post newspaper. He served as Chairman of the Federal Reserve from 1930 to 1933. He was the father of publisher Katharine Graham.
Born in Los Angeles, California, he was one of eight children of Marc Eugene Meyer and Harriet Newmark. His parents were Jewish but he avoided identification as a Jew until later in life. He grew up in San Francisco and attended college across the bay at the University of California, Berkeley, but he dropped out after one year and later enrolled at Yale University. He received his A.B. in 1895.
After college, Meyer went to work for Lazard Freres, where his father was a partner, but quit in 1901 after four years and went out on his own. He was a successful investor and speculator and owned a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. He married Agnes Elizabeth Ernst, a Lutheran, in 1910; they had five children, including the future Katharine Graham and another daughter Florence Meyer (1911-1962) (Mrs. Oskar Homolka). By 1915, when he was forty, he was worth $40 million.

The Washington Post Company (NYSE: WPO) is an American mass media company, best known for owning the newspaper for which it is named, The Washington Post. The company also owns Kaplan, Inc., a leading international provider of educational and career services for individuals, schools, and businesses. In addition, the company owns The Slate Group, Express, El Tiempo Latino, The Gazette and Southern Maryland newspapers, The Herald (Everett, WA), Post-Newsweek Stations (Detroit, Houston, Miami, Orlando, San Antonio and Jacksonville), Cable ONE—a cable TV and Internet service provider with subscribers in midwestern, western, and southern states—and Avenue100 Media Solutions, an online lead generation provider. The company previously owned Newsweek and Newsweek.com, but sold the magazine in 2010 after years of financial losses.[2]
The Washington Post Company history dates back to 1877, when the Post was first published. The Washington Post Company was incorporated in the District of Columbia in 1889,[3] and remained a District of Columbia corporation until it changed its state of incorporation to Delaware in 2003.[4] It is a public company, trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol WPO; it went public in 1971. It is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Apart from the family of the late Eugene Meyer, Berkshire Hathaway is a substantial shareholder.

- Kaplan, Inc. — Kaplan is one of the world's largest providers of educational services. Kaplan focuses on three areas: higher education, professional training, and test preparation.
Headquartered in New York City under the leadership of CEO Andrew Rosen, Kaplan had $2.3 billion in revenue in 2008. It is The Washington Post Company's fastest growing division and its largest revenue producer.
The Kaplan Higher Education unit had campuses where students defaulted on federal loans at rate of higher than 30 percent—more than three times the rate at private, nonprofit colleges—according to data released by the U.S. Department of Education.[5] The high default rate may even trigger the loss of student aid under federal rules that take effect in 2012.[5] When students default on their debt taxpayers are stuck with the bill and the students have their credit destroyed. Kaplan's marketing campaign targets especially veterans, single mothers and low-income students.[6][7] According to the U.S. News & World Report, only 33 percent of Kaplan students graduate within six years.[8]

The official name of the broadcast division, dating back to the 1970s, is Post-Newsweek Stations. Post-Newsweek stations is based in Detroit, Michigan and currently owns six VHF stations, all in the Top 50 markets. All the stations are branded under the "Local Mandate," which happens to be a station standardization adopted by Post-Newsweek. (Examples: KPRC is "Local 2" and WPLG is "Local 10".)
