Keeping similarity with the Bay of Bengal, the river has almost same color of the ocean. While cruising through the river, I have found the sight of Myanmar side is more beautify compare to Bangladesh. May be the well known proverb "the other side of the river is always beautiful" is the reason. Tourists of st martin's island are being carried by the ship over the river. During the cruising, you can see lot of boats were floating over the river. Boatmen from the both country use to catch fish on a regular basis.Finally, the river has lot of Seagulls(গাংচিল) flying around. I have seen my first Seagull(গাংচিল) at Naaf River(নাফ নদী).

Attacks on Fishermen and Refugees
Regular incidents in which fishermen and refugees were shot by Myanmar Army troops, and refugees were repelled by Bangladeshi troops have occurred on the Naf River. These include, but are not limited to, the following events:
February, 1992- The Lun Htin, A Burmese paramilitary force killed 20 refugees while crossing the Naf river to Bangladesh.
March 24, 1994- Members of the Myanmar Army's Western Military Command patrolling the Naf River found a group of Rohingya Muslims fishing from a small country boat. The soldiers tried to extort money from the fishermen, but when they were unable to do so, tied them up with rope and brought them to Balu Khali Village in Maungdaw Township. Eight of the Rohingya fishermen were interrogated and tortured for five days and then they were all shot by firing squad.

Lodges are dependent on generators, as the island is all about sun, sea and palm trees. During the day, the island comes alive with water and beach sports, with beach parties and bonfires lighting up the evening skies. For the use of a phone or a reminder of what a television set looks like, visitors can pop down to the Coast Guard station.
It's possible to walk around the island in a day because it measures only 8 km2 (3 sq. mile), shrinking to about 5 km2 (2 sq. mi) during high tide. This is the only coral island of Bangladesh.
St. Martin's Island has become a popular tourist place. Currently, some (about 5 to 6 in number) shipping liners run daily trips to the island, including Sea-Truck and Keary-Sindbad. Tourists can book their trip either from Chittagong or from Cox's Bazar or from Dhaka. The surrounding coral reef of the island has an extension named Chera Dwip. How To Go St. Martin's Island:
1. You need to fly or take a direct bus down to Cox's Bazar, and then take a bus to Teknaf, which is the most southern thana of Bangladesh, beside the Myanmar border.
2. You can also take the rail to Chittagong and catch a bus to Teknaf via Cox’s bazaar. In this way of transport may cost a little less from the first two mode of transportation. But it may take an hour or two longer to reach Teknaf.
3. You also can take a bus from the capital city of Dhaka and it will take 12 to 13 hours to reach the Teknaf Ship terminal.
4. Luxurious Passenger Ships left Teknaf every morning at 9.30 am, and return from St. Martin Island in the same day at 3.00 pm (Services available only from the Month of October to Middle of the April)

Local name of the island is "Narical Gingira", also spelled "Narikel Jinjira/ Jinjera", that means 'Coconut Island' in Bengali. It is the only one coral island in Bangladesh.
St Martin’s Island is perfect for tourist who is truly interested in escaping the holds of a modern world. Do not expect to find taxis, tarred roads or electricity here. Lodges are dependent on generators, as the island is all about sun, sea and palm trees. During the day, the island comes alive with water and beach sports, with beach parties and bonfires lighting up the evening skies. For the use of a phone or a reminder of what a television set looks like, visitors can pop down to the Coast Guard station.
It's possible to walk around the island in a day because it measures only 8 km2 (3 sq. mile), shrinking to about 5 km2 (2 sq. mi) during high tide. This is the only coral island of Bangladesh.

is the largest of the 7 administrative divisions of Bangladesh. It covers the most south-eastern areas of the country, with a total area of 33,771 km² and a population at the 2011 Census of 28,079,000.
The Division is subdivided into 11 districts and thence into 99 sub-districts. The first 6 districts Brahmanbaria, Comilla, Chandpur, Lakshmipur, Noakhali & Feni comprise the north-western portion (37.6%) of the Division, while the remaining 5 Chittagong, Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban & Cox's Bazar comprise the south-eastern portion (62.4%), the two portions being separated by the Feni River.
Chittagong District (চট্টগ্রাম)
The port city of Chittagong, 2nd largest city in Bangladesh, is located in this district.
The region fell under the rule of kings from Arakan in the 16th and 17th centuries, but later, the Mughal army under Islam Khan conquered Chittagong. During the 17th century, the region also faced a lot of attacks by Portuguese pirates. The Mughals established Chittagong as a district in 1666. Today, Chittagong is one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

Shopping: A good number of small shops are near the port and along the main road selling essential commodities, odd souvenir t-shirts, hats and sunglasses. Accommodations: Accommodations facilities are very good here. You can easily manage a room according to your budget. Most of the evenings can be candle-lit as no electricity on St Martins, but a few of the much expensive hotels have generators services.

Various sea shells and things made from the shells are sold by teens around St Martine. However, it's illegal as leads to the depletion of sea life.
Accommodations: Accommodations facilities are very good here. You can easily manage a room according to your budget. Most of the evenings can be candle-lit as no electricity on St Martins, but a few of the much expensive hotels have generators services.

Teknaf is 85 km from Cox's Bazar by road and 120 km by the beach along the sea. One can reach there by public transport that leaves Cox's Bazar every hour. It is about 2 hours' journey each way.
By road, it is 84 km from Coxs Bazaar. Southernmost tip of Bangladesh, Teknaf situated on the Naaf river and just at the end of the hilly regions of the district.
