Meter or metre is a term that music has inherited from the rhythmic element of poetry (Scholes 1977; Latham 2002b) where it means the number of lines in a verse, the number of syllables in each line and the arrangement of those syllables as long or short, accented or unaccented (Scholes 1977; Latham 2002b). Hence it may also refer to the pattern of lines and accents in the verse of a hymn or ballad, for example, and so to the organization of music into regularly recurring measures or bars of stressed and unstressed "beats", indicated in Western music notation by a time signature and bar-lines.

The terminology of western music is notoriously imprecise in this area (Scholes 1977). MacPherson (1930, 3) preferred to speak of "time" and "rhythmic shape", Imogen Holst (1963, 17) of "measured rhythm". However, London has written a book about musical metre, which "involves our initial perception as well as subsequent anticipation of a series of beats that we abstract from the rhythm surface of the music as it unfolds in time" (London 2004, 4).

Tosin Abasi is a Hollywood, CA based guitarist who is best known for playing in the instrumental progressive metal band Animals as Leaders. Before Animals as Leaders was formed, he was the guitarist for the technical metalcore band Reflux. He has recorded and released two albums with Animals as Leaders: a self-titled debut and Weightless.

Tosin Abasi is a self-taught guitarist. He was the guitarist for the Silver Spring, Maryland based metal band PSI. He joined Reflux in the early to mid-2000s. During a Reflux show, Prosthetic Records noticed his skill and offered him a record deal as a solo artist. At first, he refused saying he didn't feel comfortable with his skill level to write his own record. Afterwards, Abasi enrolled at the Atlanta Institute of Music, and after he graduated, he contacted Prosthetic Records asking if the offer still held. He then formed his "solo" project, Animals as Leaders, the name loosely being derived from the book Ishmael. At first, producer Misha Mansoor (from Periphery) programmed all the drums and synthesizers in the album, but Tosin then chose Javier Reyes and Navene Koperweis on rhythm guitar and drums, respectively.

 Thomas Lang (help·info) (born August 5, 1967, Vienna) is an Austrian drummer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and record producer. He is the founding member of the Los Angeles-based progressive/avant garde metal trio, stOrk.

Lang took up drumming at the age of 5. In addition to lessons at local music schools and years of private tuition, he was classically trained at the Vienna Conservatory of Music. After leaving the conservatory in 1985, Lang began working professionally, working his way through the European pop, rock and jazz scenes. Throughout his career as a session musician he has played for various artists such as John Wetton, Robert Fripp, Glenn Hughes, Peter Gabriel, Asia, Nik Kershaw, Tina Turner, Robbie Williams, Kelly Clarkson, Sugababes, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Ronan Keating, Steve Hackett, 911, Boyzone, Falco, Nina Hagen, Steve Jones, Mick Jones, The Commodores, George Michael, Doogie White, B*Witched, Gianna Nannini, Lighthouse Family, Westlife, Kylie Minogue, The Blockheads, Sertab Erener, Vienna Art Orchestra, Bonnie Tyler, and Nadine Beiler, among others. In 1995 Lang released his debut solo release, Mediator, which topped the charts in Europe and garnered positive reviews.

Denny AJD (Ahmad Juniar Dirgajaya) was born in Jakarta on 24 June 1978. He is an Indonesian drummer.

His musical accomplishments include winning the Pearl Drums festival in 1999 as the best national drummer. The local Pearl Drums dealer selected Denny as a drum and Zildjian cymbal demonstrator. After two years with Pearl Drums, he joined Yamaha in 2001.

He is also the operator of a web site specializing in drummer education and equipment,[1] and has written and published a book on drumming, "Perkenalan & Perlengkapan Permainan Drum". He works as a drum instructor affiliated with the Indonesia Musician Institute of East Jakarta along with Alvin Lubis.
