Clay Marzo - The New Yorker
"Brah, Gino's Pizza, its gotta be good it's the same name as my dad". - Clay Clay went to NY to compete in the Quikie Pro trials . Clay isn't that fond of big city's, and avoided driving into the city to be filmed walking around little Italy like his sponsors were trying to force him to do. The food and waves in Long Beach were all Clay needed to feel right at home. The water was even trunkable, well for Clay at least due as Aspergers gives him a larger tolerance to pain and extreme temperatures. Clay and I met some really great people on this trip. A big shout out to Mother Mary and Ohana, (Ballsacks mum) for taking care of us as if we were her own. Also a big thank you to Anthony Salerno for the sharing his local knowledge and helping us find uncrowded perfect surf and the best damn underground Deli's and returaunts in Long Beach. Anthony was living in his hurricane flooded house and taking care of his family while still finding time to take us in like family. "Edge of Glory" PS22 Chorus @ New Yorker For New York Gala (Soundcheck)
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com Here's a pretty amazing performance of "Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga that was performed at the soundcheck for the New Yorker for New York Gala back in February! Although the kids were only warming up without an audience, we felt this performance was so good that it finally deserved one! So here are Kiarah and the chorus at the top of their game!

Description:
I had a chance to go visit one of the greatest cities this summer. Right when I got of the plane and arrived downtown New York, I took my camera and strolled out through the busy streets of New York City. I wanted to capture the great culture and street aesthetic of New York and I think it turned out really well. The video includes recordings from both Manhattan and Brooklyn, where I spend hours capturing the culture and everyday life of native New Yorkers.

A trip to Barcelona
I'm Sharif, a New Yorker, and this last September I went to Europe. In Barcelona I accidentally joined a huge demonstration. 1.5 million people took to the streets demanding independence of Catalonia from Spain. Then I realized that funny enough the city that most people relate to Spain doesn't want to be Spanish at all.

A new film combing animation with live action conceived and directed by Joshua Frankel, about the architecture of New York City blasting off into outer space and resettling on Mars. The film’s visuals are an animated collage combining live action footage, animated elements, illustrations and treated photographs, including photos taken by the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity made available to the public domain by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Plan of the City was created in collaboration with composer Judd Greenstein and NOW Ensemble, an acclaimed "indie classical" chamber ensemble; the ensemble, including Greenstein, feature prominently in the film as live actors set inside the animated framework.
The audio of the film consists solely of Greenstein's Change, performed by NOW Ensemble; Change and Plan of the City were created in parallel, each expressing its own artistic intention while simultaneously serving its "sibling".
The film was presented with the music performed live, timed to the film, at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City in May, 2011. It also exists as its own stand-alone entity, utilizing NOW Ensemble's recent studio recording of Change(out on New Amsterdam Records).

Jonah Lehrer on the Surprising Benefits of Daydreaming
Complete Premium video at: fora.tv Author and WIRED contributing editor Jonah Lehrer discusses the surprising benefits of daydreaming, and questions whether ubiquitous access to the Internet negatively affects the ability to let one's mind wander. "Now, every time I get even a little bit bored ... I check my email for the millionth time that day," says Lehrer. "I lose myself in my 3-inch screen, instead of exploring the usual process of daydreaming." ----- This excerpt is taken from a program titled, "Your Brain on the Internet: Digital Intelligence," featuring Nicholson Baker, Jaron Lanier, Jonah Lehrer, Elizabeth Phelps, and Daniel Zalewski. Jonah Lehrer is an author and journalist who writes often about neuroscience and psychology. He has published two books, "Proust Was a Neuroscientist," about the connections between science and the humanities, and "How We Decide," about the brain and decision-making. He has written for The New Yorker about the science of insight and about the psychology of delayed gratification.

New Yorker Festival 2007: Parkour with David Belle
Parkour New York: David Belle talks with Alec Wilkinson David Belle will discuss, and demonstrate, parkour, the sport he created. Parkour is a system of leaps, vaults, rolls, and landings designed to help a person surmount any obstacles in his path. David Belle moved to Lisses, a suburb of Paris, at the age of fourteen. Inspired by his father, an acrobat and fireman, and by the French sports theorist Georges Hébert, he began performing stunts on a nearby climbing wall. Through online videos, his sport, whose name he coined, caught on internationally. He has performed in Madagascar, Italy, Germany, and Portugal and will appear in the upcoming film "Babylon AD" Alec Wilkinson has been a staff writer for The New Yorker since 1980. He is the author of seven books, including "My Mentor," "Mr. Apology," and, most recently, "The Happiest Man in the World: An Account of the Life of Poppa Neutrino," parts of which first appeared in the magazine. "No Obstacles," his piece on parkour and David Belle, appeared in the April 16th Journeys issue.
