Spielberg's fourth film, labeled a flop only because it wasn't as successful as Jaws or Close Encounters. It's still pretty good (way better than AI). It chronicles the paranoia and blind patriotism that gripped the west coast after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and seems oddly familiar in today's political climate. John Belushi plays Wild Wayne Kelso (changed to Wild Bill by the time principle filming began). Dan Aykroyd provides the narration.

'1941' is a comedy directed by Steven Spielberg in 1979. It's commonly regarded as one of his worst films. However has earned a kind of cult status after running on TV in an extended cut. The film was written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale with some help from John Milius. The film is about the panic that gripped Los Angeles after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. It's a very anarchic and quite a messy film. There are a great many characters in this film, most of which I tried to fit into the video. But the most attention grabbing is John Belushi's lunatic pilot Wild Bill Kelso. One of the best things about the film is its music. Composed by John Williams, it features one of the best marches in his career. '1941' and its music belong to Columbia Pictures.

HMS Barham Explodes and Sinks, 1941 [Full Resolution]. Dramatic Newsreel footage captured the sinking of the Queen Elizabeth Battleship. A salvo of torpedoes from a German submarine struck from close range on HMS Barham on November 25, 1941 in the Mediterranean. Within four minutes, the battleship had listed over to Port and the ships magazines had exploded, sinking the battleship and killing 863 men. The terrifying explosion was caught on film by Pathe cameraman John Turner who was on an adjacent ship. Very little is known about Robert Petway. He recorded only sixteen songs between 1941-1942 and there is only one photo available of him. But this song, "Catfish Blues" is an important part of blues history ! For example Muddy Water based his "Rollin' Stone" hit on this recording and you can hear it. Ihope owners of the rights want to see this as an honor to this artist who plays with just wonderful blues-feeling! And same goes to these random photos of other blues artists, which I have found from net. My hope is that everyone can just listen to this fine musician. Enjoy! It's so nice, that you can still buy these recordings on CD, mine is an old vinyl album!

Charlie Christian is generally recognised as the person who popularised the electric guitar (although not the first) and who changed everyones thinking about how jazz could be played on it. As well as playing guitar for Benny Goodman, Charlie participated in after hours jam sessions with other musicians in places such as Mintons and Monroes in New York City. On 12 May 1941 Charlie played Swing to Bop (also known as Topsy) at Mintons, with Joe Guy on trumpet, Kenny Kersey on piano, Nick Fenton on bass and Kenny Clarke on drums. This live track excerpt is characterised by longer solos than Charlie would typically play with Goodman, and is a good indication of his incredible improvisational abilities. His influence on guitarists then and since has been massive. Famed jazz guitarist Barney Kessel spent three days with Charlie watching him play. "He played probably 95% downstrokes and held a very stiff big triangular pick very tightly between his thumb and first finger. He rested his second, third and fourth fingers very firmly on the pickguard...". Source: Guitar Player March 1982. ‘YEKPARE’ (monolithic)
"Yekpare" is a storyteller which narrates the 8500 year story of Istanbul. The story embraces symbols from Pagans to Roman Empire, from Byzantine Empire to Latin Empire, and finally from Ottoman Empire to Istanbul at the present day.
Haydarpaşa Train Station, with its brilliant architectural forms, is the building on which the story is projected. The connection between middle east to west has been provided by Istanbul and Haydarpaşa since 1906. In the 50’s it served as a door for millions of internal emigrants who have triggered the chaos in Istanbul's dialectical daily life scenes.The project's conceptual, political and geographical positioning, the location’s depth of field and the fact that the entire show can be watched from Kadıköy coast; make "Yekpare" a dramatic presentation.
The first day of the performance also marks the 47th deathday of Nazım Hikmet Ran, the famous Turkish poet. We started out with a quote from his epic novel, "Human Landscapes from My Country": “At Haydarpaşa Train Station, in the spring of 1941, it is three o’clock. Sun, exhaustion and rush lay on the stairs...”

Mani Nasry an exceptionally talented filmmaker, actor and artist with a sophisticated breadth of education, skills, experience, and professional accomplishments. He trained as an actor and director in New York with Salem Ludwig and with Donna DeMatteo for playwriting. For Mani, the decision to work in the film industry guided his academic decisions from an early age. He attended a Toronto high school renowned for excellence in the arts, and was accepted into one of the highly competitive film program at Ryerson university. It is notable that he went to Ryerson with an already well-established career in theatre, film, television and commercial work, and a range of multi-faceted achievements including producing, cinematography, casting, writing, directing, acting, and editing. On his own he added stints in New York and Los Angeles with leading acting teachers, as well as learning the grace and style of many forms of dance and athletics. With courses perceptively, he has also recognized the importance of acquiring an understanding of the business side of the industry, and the varied aspects of technology and production. There are some people clearly born to follow the path they have chosen from the start. This documentary series is not a behind-the-scenes look at the porn industry in Prague, but the story of the people in the industry.
The stories presented in the film all question the human side of this trade. After all, for the actors and actresses who go to the set and have sex with someone they hardly know as a regular job is certainly far beyond the imagination of most of us.
This human side of this business intrigues me, although people might simply wonder if there is any human side to it. I’m more interested in why they do it instead of how do they do it. After spending over 2 years following this theme, I realized it’s nearly impossible to draw any conclusion. However, I’m trying to capture the stories that I see growing out of my close observation of the trade in the last 3 years.These stories highlight what’s happening on the other side of the cameras of the porn shooting set, where all of sudden, a certain flow mixed with the most primitive human desire and also the mysterious weakness of mankind seems to appear…
