Indian police fired shots into the air and used tear gas to disperse hundreds of angry demonstrators who torched police vehicle and pelted stones in Kashmir's main city, protesting against the death of a student who was killed by police after his arrest, residents said. Police however denied the charge and said the 20-year-old student, Asrar Ahmad, was murdered by unidentified criminals.
