East Asian Cultures' Surnames - Vietnam - Korea - China - Japan
Vietnamese, Korean & Chinese names generally consist of three parts: a family name, a middle name, and a given name, used in that order. This is in accordance to the East Asian system of personal names. Vietnamese, Korean & Chinese share the same surnames with a little (or completely) different pronunciations. Japanese names (人名jinmei) in modern times usually consist of a family name (surname), followed by a given name. This order is common in countries that have long been part of the Sinosphere, including among the Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Japanese cultures. The list you're going to view will NOT include the real Japanese surnames, however, there is something relates to Vietnamese, Korean & Chinese surnames. We collected information from a list at www.wikipedia.org.

soley made in China (4) - what're they tryin' to tell/sell?
I am glad that I don't live in china, why? cause I won't be Mr.xxxxxxxxxx anymore, I'll became Mr.xx. What are you talking about? I am talking about my surname has too many strokes, too difficult in handwriting, the authority says it's no good. Let's use English to demonstrate, let's use Mississippi as a chinese surname (it's a traditional chinese character as well - traditional characters usually have a lot of strokes), it has 4 syllables... too long, too clumpsy, too hard to remember, so another character which carries similar sound came to replace it, they chose Kiss...short enough, easy to write, easy to remember, easy to digest. From now on, I'll be Mr. Kiss. The surname "Mississippi" is no longer exists in china, you can't find your family tree in the museum. You might ask Can you protest? Yes, I can, but I'll attract an army of police marching into my village, shooting our asses. Can I hire a lawyer to file a lawsuit against the government? Yes, I can, but my lawyer will be thrown into jail. I am not proud to be a chinaman...don't like those brothers/sisters who yell from dawn to dusk "I AM PROUD TO BE CHINAMAN".

The Story of Chinese Character : 紙
紙is composed of 糸(a silk coil, the BuShou of 絲) and 氏(the surname). In ancient China, if someone did something good to the society, the emperor would grant him a surname, and such a surname was written on a white silk sheet in order to represent how valuable it is. At that time, people did not have paper, they wrote on white silk sheet, such white silk sheet which used for writing was 紙. Even though people had paper then, they still called paper as 紙.

Islam in China
Nasheed - Kaseeda-e-Burda is by Muhammad Al-Husayn: youtube[dot]com/watch?v=DN8wh6 PkIJ4 (the start is from another Nasheed, 'Ya Adheem' by Ahmed Bukhatir: watch?v=j7phLxLIzG0) The History of Islam in China begins just a few decades after Prophet Muhammad (saw) began preaching Islam. Trade existed between pre-Islamic Arabia and China's South Coast, and flourished when Arab maritime traders converted to Islam. It reached its peak under the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty. China's long and interactive relationship with the various Steppe tribes and empires, through trade, war, subordination or domination paved the way for a large sustained Islamic community within China. Islamic influence came from the various steppe peoples who assimilated in Chinese culture. Muslims served as administrators, generals, and other leaders who were transferred to China from Persia and Central Asia to administer the empire under the Mongolians. Muslims also entered China from Vietnam where sizeable Muslim communities had sprung up due to Muslim rule in India. This played a large part in the creation of a large Islamic community in Yunnan, which became the largest concentration of Muslims outside of the Northern provinces. Muslims in China have managed to practice their faith in China, sometimes against great odds, since the seventh century. Islam is one of the religions that is still officially recognized in China. Uthman(ra), the third Caliph of Islam, sent the first official Muslim envoy to China in ...

We call Chinese calligraphy on the steles the Stele School ( 碑學). When practicing calligraphy of the Stele School, we may vibrate the brush very lightly to mimic the carving effects of the strokes and to give them blood, bone, liveliness, depth, and various nuances. When practicing the calligraphy of the Stele School, the writing speeds need to be slower - usually the slower the better or depending on the absorbency of ink by the paper - but not stagnation.
