A Tour of East Sussex.wmv
Beachy Head is a chalk headland on the south coast of England, close to the town of Eastbourne in the county of East Sussex, immediately east of the Seven Sisters. The cliff there is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, rising to 162 m (530 ft) above sea level. The headland was a danger to shipping. In 1831 construction began on Belle Tout lighthouse on the next headland west from Beachy Head. It became operational in 1834. Due to cliff erosion, in March 1999 Belle Tout lighthouse was moved more than 50 feet (15 m) further inland. Because mist and low clouds could hide the light of Belle Tout, another lighthouse was built in the sea below Beachy Head. It was 43 m in height and became operational in October 1902. The Seven Sisters are a series of chalk cliffs by the English Channel. They form part of the South Downs in East Sussex, between the towns of Seaford and Eastbourne in southern England. They are within the Seven Sisters Country Park. They are the remnants of dry valleys in the chalk South Downs, which are gradually being eroded by the sea. Bateman's is a 17th-century house located in Burwash, East Sussex, England. British author Rudyard Kipling lived in Bateman's from 1902 to his death in 1936. His wife left the house to the National Trust on her death in 1939, and it has since been opened to the public. Hastings is a town and borough in the county of East Sussex on the south coast of England. The town is located 24 miles (39 km) east of the county town of ...

Rye, East Sussex
Perched on a hill, the medieval town of Rye is the sort of place you thought existed only in your imagination. Almost suspended in time, Rye's unhurried atmosphere and enchanting streets draw visitors with their warm welcome. It's small enough to make you feel at home almost straight away but holds enough secret treasures to entice you to stay much longer. When you're in need of a treat or want to escape the pressures of modern life, come to Rye. With only 5000 inhabitants, it retains a village atmosphere and old-fashioned values. A town to be explored and enjoyed on foot

East Sussex 24 Andy Wilkinson. 541 miles.
Andy Wilkinson riding to a new record of 541miles in 24 Hourson the roads of Sussex. Last year we filmed the Mersey Roads 24 where John Warnock did 520 miles, challenging Wilko's 525 record, I interviewed Wilko at that event where he was marshalling at night at 2.27 in this video www.youtube.com which also has an emotional finish scene at the end, and conveys John Warnock's very different approach. I have hours and hours of footage of these events, all in the HD.

Kent & East Sussex Railway May Bank Holiday Gala Monday 7th May 2012
My video from the Monday of the May Bank Holiday Steam Gala at the Kent and East Sussex Railway. This year's visitors were N2 no.1744 and 42XX no.4247. They joined home fleet USA Tank no.65 'Maunsell', Manning Wardle Class 0 no.14 'Charwelton', Peckett no.12 'Marcia', 16XX no.1638, Austerity no.23 'Holman F Stephens' and Terriers no.32670 'Bodiam' and 32678 'Knowle' on an intensive service of passenger and freight trains between Tenterden Town and Bodiam. Unfortunatly 4247 failed on Monday so was replaced by no.23 and Marcia also failed and was replaced on brake van rides at Tenterden by no.14. For some reason there is no sounds on the clip of 1744 departing Northiam, it is on the clip when its played alone but my video editing software dosn't pick it up. It is no great loss as the road noise at the time contained a large lorry with its engine running! The Kent & East Sussex Railway before preservation
The Kent & East Sussex Light Railway. known in it's first few years as the Rother Valley Railway, was opened between 1903 and 1905 and ran from Robertsbridge on the Tonbridge-Hastings line to Headcorn Junction on the South Eastern main line. The line became part of British Railways upon nationalisation in 1948 and, in common with many similarly unprofitable rural branch lines was steadily run down, closing to passenger traffic on 2nd January 1954 (at which point the section from Tenterden Town to Headcorn Junction was closed altogether) and to all traffic on 12th July 1961. The K&ESR; survived as one of the first preserved railway lines in the UK and is now a very successful tourist attraction. These scenes however date from the period whilst the line was still part of the national network. The first few scenes depict ex-South Eastern Railway Class O1 0-6-0 No.31070 on a single coach train, filmed in 1952 at Frittenden Road, Biddenden, High Halden Road, St Michaels Halt, Rolvenden Shed (where former K&ESR; Terrier No.3 Bodiam in her BR guise as No.32670 can be seen), and Rolvenden Station. We switch to a different film showing No.31070 again ascending the bank from Robertsbridge, with an ex-LSWR bogie brake and ex-SR brake van in tow, past St.Mildreds Church and arriving at Tenterden Town. Also from the same reel, at Tenterden we see Terrier No.32670 coupling up to a Birdcage brake, and then at Robertsbrige Junction. We now jump ahead to 1961 at which point the only ...

British Engineerium Brighton East Sussex 2010.mpg
A short video, taken on a special open day held on Saturday 13th March 2010. It shows the beautifully restored working Victorian steam pumping station and museum of mechanical antiquities. Please note that appart from this particular open day, the engineerium is at present closed to the public. The Trustees of the British Engineerium are delighted to announce that the future of the museum has been secured, thanks to the generous intervention of a private sponsor. The recently advertised sale of exhibits was cancelled at the eleventh hour and a period of intense planning has already begun. Titled "Tycoon's £3 million museum deal" the Argus published the following on Thursday 11th May 2006; "A property tycoon who saved a historic steam engine museum said he bought it because it would have been a disgrace if the collection had been lost. Mike Holland stepped in moments before the collection from the British Engineerium in Hove was to be sold at auction yesterday. Mr Holland, who is chairman of Cherrywood Investments, is thought to have put together a £3 million-plus package, which was the figure quoted to stop the collection being sold. He said he came to the rescue because he could not bear to see such an important public collection sold off piece by piece. It is the second time in three weeks that Mr Holland has used his money for the public good. He and parent John Summers paid £2.5 million to save Newlands independent school in Seaford from closure. Mr Holland, 58 ...

East Sussex Prt4 18th Nov 09
After a resume of the property in Battle, the couple take a look around the West Dean Estate and its walled garden, where we hear of Katherines passion for having a large garden, so she can grow her own fruit and vegetables. We now move on to Framfield and todays mystery house, which unbeknown to the couple, could be the type of property they wouldnt relish seeing. Set in the middle of the village, this was originally a corregated tin chapel, but an architect raised it to the ground 10 years ago, and built this most unusual house. This is produced solely to promote Aled and his music.

Hellingly, East Sussex County Asylum
Hellingly Asylum 1903 - 1994 East Sussex decided to provide a new asylum after a brief period of as principal owners of the Haywards heath asylum. The construction of the new building allowed the county to leave the frequently-overcrowded old asylum to the Brighton authority and take up more extensive facilities at Hellingly.
