Noises Off Trailer, The Old Vic 2012
Lindsay Posner directs a new production of Michael Frayn's irresistible, multi-award-winning backstage comedy Noises Off.
Enjoyed by millions of people worldwide since it premiered in 1982 and hailed as one of the greatest British comedies ever written.
Winner of both Olivier and Evening Standard Awards for Best Comedy, this celebrated play serves up a riotous double bill - a play within a play. Hurtling along at breakneck speed it follows the backstage antics of a touring theatre company as they stumble their way through rehearsals to a shambolic first night and a final disastrous performance.
Running Time approx 2 hours 20 minutes including a 20 minute interval.

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros perform at The Old Vic Tunnels
The Old Vic Tunnels ( http://www.oldvictunnels.com ) kick started their 2011 artistic programme with five exclusive nights from Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros. The US cult sensation curated the ultimate 'Sharpe experience' offering fans the Wild West on planet mars. Guests were entertained by a multitude of non-traditional performers, lunar desserts and red skies inspired by classic films such as Holy Mountain and psychedelic westerns like Renegade. Providing a feast for all senses and unlike any other traditional gig, all five nights were a complete sell out. Certainly one for the history books.

Bedlam. Exhibition at Old Vic Tunnels, London
http://www.vernissage.tv | One of the events that kicked off this year's Frieze Week in London is a group show entitled Bedlam. Organized by Lazarides Gallery and The Old Vic Tunnels, the exhibition's title refers to the term 'Bedlam', a term coined from 'Bethlam', London's Hospital for the clinically insane. Bedlam at Old Vic Tunnels seeks to "creatively explore the term's modern day usage to include the brutality long associated with lunatic asylums to a much looser interpretation indicative of a state of chaos, disorder and extreme confusion..." Exhibiting artists include Antony Micallef, Artists Anonymous, ATMA, Conor Harrington, Dan Witz, Doug Foster, Ian Francis, Jane Fradgley, Karim Zeriahen, Kelsey Brookes, Klaus Weiskopf, Lucy McLauchlan, Michael Najjar, Nachev, Tessa Farmer, Tina Tsang, Tobias Klein, War Boutique and 3D.
The Old Vic Tunnels is an underground arts and performance space beneath Waterloo train station. The venue consists of almost 30,000 square feet of unused railway tunnels. In 2010 The Old Vic Theatre Trust acquired Tunnels 228-232 from BRB (Residuary) formerly British Rail and transformed it into a venue that showcases productions, performances and installations.
Bedlam at Old Vic Tunnels, London, runs until October 21, 2012.

Bedlam Art show in The Old Vic Tunnels
Bedlam is an Art show curated by Steve Lazarides in The Old Vic Tunnels. The show is open to the public from 9-21 October 2012. Entry is FREE but tickets must be booked online at: http://www.lazaridesbedlam.com/book-now/
For the third and final year...
...Lazarides will be returning underground to the Old Vic Tunnels to resurrect the madness of previous years in a brand new exhibition.
Bedlam, presented in association with HTC, will launch this October to coincide with Frieze Art Fair for two very mental weeks.
Taking its cue from London's
infamous mental institute...
...the art event expands upon the term's modern day usage to include the brutality long associated with lunatic asylums to a much looser interpretation indicative of a state of chaos, disorder and extreme confusion.
It will certainly leave you questioning your 'compos mentis' an experience that will showcase the line between genius and madness has never been so thin.
Bedlam over the years has become synonymous with madness, chaos and pandemonium, it seemed like the perfect theme for a world gone mad. Be afraid.
- Steve Lazarides
Most people that work in theatre are mad, everyone involved in the art world is crazy, Steve Lazarides is probably the craziest of them all, which is why Bedlam, the historic mental asylum, is the perfect backdrop for an art show, a stones throw from the original site. Built around the same time as The Old Vic Theatre it drew almost as many crowds; for a penny one could peer into their cells, view the freaks of the "show of Bethlehem" and laugh at their antics. I guess nothing changes....
- Hamish Jenkinson - Director, The Old Vic Tunnels

Platform in The Old Vic Tunnels
The Old Vic Tunnels staged London's most ambitious community theatre production Platform. Produced by The Old Vic Thetare's education department, Old Vic New Voices, Platform involved 120 volunteer Londoners with movement choreographed by renowned physical theatre company, Frantic Assembly.
A fantastical love story, the promenade performance led the audience through a vast series of vaults and chambers representing every corner of the city. From a broken down tube, to an East End bar, a City restaurant to a South London estate, Platform revealed the hopes and dreams of the capital's citizens at the end of the first decade of the new millennium.
Old Vic New Voices spent three months interviewing Londoners about what it's really like living, working and growing up in the capital. These testimonies were given to writers Duncan Macmillan and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (members of Old Vic New Voices' programme for emerging artists) to shape into a full-length piece. The professional creative team includes designer Joanna Scotcher (The Railway Children), lighting designer Dan Large (The Bridge Project), sound designer Richard Hammarton (Doctor Faustus) and director Alexander Ferris (Community Manager, The Old Vic).
To find locals with a passion to star in all 10 performances, The Old Vic saw 700 people through open auditions. The final company epitomised the diversity of London, with members ranging in age from 16 to 72, and including four black cab drivers, two civil servants, a city headhunter, a teacher, a DJ, a dog-walker, a social worker, a personal trainer, and many more.
