◄ Prambanan, Indonesia [HD] ►
Prambanan is the largest Hindu Temple in whole Indonesia. It has become one of Indonesia's key tourist attractions and a major landmark in the area. For more info on Prambanan, Indonesia, visit: www.worldsiteguides.com "..Exactly when the beautiful Prambanan Temple Compound was build is hard to say, as there is no formal written records of the construction of Prambanan. Prambanan Temple is believed to have been built in the 9th century during Ancient Java's greatest empire, The Mataram Sultanate. During this time, power of central Java shifted between different families. The construction of Prambanan was probably built to mark the return of the Sanjaya dynasty after almost a century of under control by the rival Sailendra." Indonesia Prambanan
People are still struggling to rebuild from the earthquake that hit Indonesia in 2006. We travel now to one temple that is still picking up the pieces. The 5.9 Richter scale earthquake in May 2006 caused serious damage to the temples in Indonesias Prambanan temple area, and two and half years later they have not recovered. The three largest temples include the Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu temples. Large pieces of debris, including carvings, are still scattered on the ground. Tourists are anxious to see the restoration of these 1150-year-old temples completed. [Bambang Sumbandono, Prambanan Unit Director]: MALE, 5th Person Interviewed, Using White Cloth, SOUNDBITE IN BAHASA By using print and electronic media, we try to communicate to our visitors that one of this world heritage site, hit by an earthquake, is still in the restoration process. Explaining the situation like that has actually helped increase the number of visitors. We have already counted more than 14000 visits during the holiday season. Visits on an ordinary day reach 2000. But many tourists are still disappointed that they cannot have access to the major temple, which is still surrounded by fences. [Yos Handani, Tour Guide]: MALE, 3rd Person Interviewed, Using Glasses, Wearing Yellow-Blue Cloth. SOUNDBITE IN BAHASA The restoration process takes a long time. It has already been nearly two years. But I think the restoration process still needs 6 or 8 months to be finished. Many tourists that I bring from foreign ...

Candi Prambanan
Candi Prambanan is the grandest temple in Java apart from Borobudur. Located on the Prambanan plain, this sprawling temple complex sits majestically in an open area about twenty kilometers south of Mount Merapi, which dominates the horizon. The temple was constructed in the early ninth century by the Sanjaya dynasty, a flourishing Hindu kingdom that shared the island with the Buddhist Saliendra dynasty that built Borobudur. The relationship between the two dynasties is not clear, but one theory maintains that the Sanjayas constructed Candi Prambanan as a symbol of dynastic power in response to the construction of Borobudur. However, the Sanjayas do not seem to have been particularly antagonistic toward the Buddhist faith of the Saliendras—indeed, the temple complex is located just a few hundred meters south of Candi Sewu, a once awe-inspiring marvel of Buddhist art.

Prambanan Temples, Yogyakarta (Indonesia) - Travel Guide
Take a tour of Prambanan Temples in Yogyakarta, Indonesia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. The large, carved stone towers of the Prambanan Temples look like miniature mountains dotting the landscape. These old Hindu holy places can be found in the countryside outside of Yogykarta city in Indonesia. The sides of these temples are carved with images of the epic legends of heroes and gods. This large compound was built in the ninth century, although it was abandoned not long after this. The countryside surrounding the Prambanan Temples is lush, green and very scenic as a backdrop for the tall buildings. The temple is dedicated to the three aspects of the Hindu god, Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu.

Prambanan Temple Ancient Aliens
We now live in modern times (see 21'st Century) but look on abab IX has built Prambanan. The location is on the border of the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java Province, exactly on the coordinates 7 ° 45'06.96''S and 110 ° 29'28.20'''E. Prambanan temple complex stands 200 feet north of Highway Yogya-Solo. Both, after all this time when we think we know turns out that such sophisticated technology with a mathematical calculation that is very powerful, in fact we are very far from the name of "sophistication and progress". How could I not! Are you now can build as Prambanan Temple? Of course with material as you see in the temple area.

Ramayana Ballet Dance in Prambanan Temple VIII
Ramayana Ballet, a Drama in Typical Javanese Dance Ramayana ballet is an art performance that is so beautiful, admiring and it is difficult to compare. This performance is able to unite various Javanese arts such as dance, drama and music on one stage and one momentum to present the Ramayana story, a legendary epos written by Walmiki in Sanskrit language. Ramayana story presented in this performance is similar to that engraved on Prambanan temple. As people tell, Ramayana story that is engraved on the most beautiful Hindu temple is similar to the story in oral tradition in India. The long and straining story is summarized in four scenes, namely the kidnapping of Shinta, Anoman's mission to Alengka, the death of Kumbakarna or Rahwana, and the meeting of Rama-Shinta. The entire story is presented in a series of dance movements done by beautiful dancers accompanied by gamelan music. You are invited to really plunge into the story and observe each movement of the dancers to know the coarse of the story. There is no dialog among the dancers. The only storyteller is the sinden or the female singer who describes the coarse of the story through Javanes songs with her typical voice. The story begins when Prabu Janaka held a contest to determine the would-be husband for Shinta, his daughter that finally was won by Rama Wijaya. The scene is continued with the adventure of Rama, Shinta and Rama's younger brother named Laksamana in Dandaka forest. There, they met Rawana that was eager ...

PRAMBANAN Central Java, Indonesia
Indonesia's largest Hindu holy place is Prambanan, in Central Java, a religious treasure that dates back to the 9th century and originally included 237 temples. An earthquake struck and for many centuries the buildings lay buried beneath the ground until, in 1918, archaeologists began to reconstruct the main temples. The individual sections of the Candi Lara Jonggrang were rebuilt like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, which made the reconstruction process particularly laborious, but in 1953 the rebuilding of the central temples was completed. The Candi Siva rises 47 metres into the sky and is the tallest in Prambanan and contains four inner chambers that face the four points of the compass. The main Hindu god, Shiva, is depicted in the southern chamber, whilst the sculpture of his reborn wife, Durga, is located within the temple's northern chamber. Thankfully, due to the hard work and determination of many archaeologists, the symbolic meaning of the old Hindu god, Shiva, God of Destruction and Renewal, is well on its way to being fully realized.

Indonesia: The Hindu Temples of Prambanan, Java
www.TravelsWithSheila.com Prambanan, only 17 kilometers from Yogyakarta and visited the same day as Borobudur, did not knock my socks off. It's the best remaining example of Hindu cultural development but almost the entire complex was destroyed by earthquake. We also had (in my mind) an extremely personable but boring guide. That certainly didn't help make Prambanan memorable. Nonetheless, visit and make up your own mind.
