Robert Cheruiyot wins Chicago Marathon 10/22/06 with a time of 2:07:35 but slips at finish line - OUCH! 10/24/06 Update: CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Marathon winner Robert Cheruiyot left the hospital on Tuesday after spending two nights there with a mild concussion he sustained when he slipped at the finish line. The 28-year-old had sprinted away from fellow Kenyan Daniel Njenga during the final stretch of Sunday's race when he slipped backward and banged his head, causing internal and external bleeding. His momentum carried him across the line, making him the winner in two hours seven minutes 35 seconds. Cheruiyot, this year's Boston Marathon champion, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He had no recollection of what had happened immediately afterward and asked his coach if he had won. But his agent, Federico Rosa, said his client's memory is intact. There were decals with the marathon's logo at the finish line, but Rosa did not blame them for the fall. He suggested after the race and during a news conference on Monday that wet conditions, shoes and even just a lack of balance caused Cheruiyot to slip.

Unfortunately, Nishikant has hit the bottle hard after his wife's demise and is drunk most of the time. Yet, his daughters decide to celebrate his birthday in style though Bani gets insulted by her boss at the hotel where she works in the House Keeping department, on the sly, when she asks for her legitimate dues. Pia extracts her revenge by flirting with Mr.Kathuria and making him buy expensive gifts as compensation before handing him over to his infuriated wife! Alas! Nishikant comes home at 4 in the morning dead drunk and Pia gives him a piece of her mind. Early, in the morning, a family friend Mr.Dayal lands with a portrait Nishikant wanted to gift his daughters and they feel dreadfully repentant. Nishikant, on being refused a loan from his bank, strikes a deal with a businessman from Mumbai for his bungalow on a rent of Rs.50000 per month. But he gets stunned when he finds Bani working in that very hotel as she spills water on the cheque being written by his new tenant!

At the breakfast table, Jigyasa announces her happiness at Bani's decision to marry Mohan! Piya decides to surprise Pushkar by taking his breakfast to his room but on her way down the stairs she runs into Jigyasa and breaks her cellphone! Mohan walks into Bani's cabin to discuss their wedding plans as well as where she would like to go on their honeymoon. He gently breaks the news that Sonali had told him she was marrying him despite being in love with someone else. He leaves after wishing her all the very best for her future but refuses to marry her. Piya gets a cellphone by courier from an anonymous well-wisher and she presumes it's a gift from Pushkar. In order to avoid Pushkar, Bani decides to do night duty at the hotel where she gets into a fight with Ranveer who is running a business in supplying call-girls. When he offers to find clients for Bani and her sisters too, she gives him a stinging slap! Consequently, he threatens to sack her but Pushkar intervenes and again comes to her rescue by exercising his powers at the hotel. But Bani makes it clear to Pushkar that she would like to fight her own battles henceforth. Yet, she is touched when he asks for her blessings in his love for Piya and insists they get married at the earliest. As it starts raining all of a sudden, she recalls her father's words that unseasonal rains were a good sign always.

Bani enters their room in a huff and slaps Piya for behaving in a cavalier manner and forgetting they are living at Jai's generosity but they couldn't stretch it beyond a certain limit! When Bani learns of Saahil's misbehaviour with Piya, she rushes to his home but mistakes Pushkar for Saahil and gives him a piece of her mind!As Bani realizes her error, she confronts Saahil and is about to slap him when Jigyasa intervenes and threatens to have her thrown out too! As a pensive Bani weeps in her room, Aditya cheers her up with his ability to laugh at himself! Now, in a cheerful frame of mind, she apologizes to Pushkar On a lighter note, Bani and Piya wish Rano on her birthday, but rush to be on time for breakfast! Jai clarifies that they are not his responsibility and brings up yesterday's incident at the disco as an example. But Bani defends Piya and pins the blame on Saahil! At this Jay loses his cool on both and though he doesn't allow Jigyasa to get a word in but she swears revenge on all three sisters! Jai, though busy planning the golden jubilee celebrations of his firm, warns Bani not to be late on her first day!

Piya calls her again as she dances with Jai, but she again doesn't attend her call but Jai makes out from her expressions that Piya is desperate to contact her as he had predicted. Finally, Bani leaves the party to call Piya warning her against calling her, but Jai takes the cell from her hand and asks Piya if she won't talk to her Jiju! He tells her, he has a present for her and asks her to switch on the TV. Both Piya and Bani are stunned to see a news report of the demolition of their bungalow at Mt.Abu. A radically changed Jai tells Piya that this is only his first gift-the destruction of their home! A hurt Bani complains that their home was like a temple for them. Jai however, declares he derives sadistic pleasure in hurting his beloved wife! Rano laments the loss of their home and requests Bani that they leave this house where everyone openly hates them. But Bani tells her that's impossible till Piya and Pushkar get married. Rano is furious at the mention of Piya's name and ridicules Bani God to a person who has destroyed her life. When she asks Jai about this, he claims to be extremely busy in his business to have brought Bani there earlier. When Saahil decides to make a film on their visit to the farmhouse, Billo Mausi suggests it be titled 'Hamari Bahurani 'Bani'! She further suggests the film begin with each person speaking a line in praise of Bani and when Jai refuses to say anything, Billo Mausi speaking on his behalf claims her Munna's wait has been worthwhile and she feels her daughter-in-law is like her daughter! Jigyasa plays her trump card by introducing Roshni as the new caretaker of the farmhouse and Jai is stunned! Aditya suggests they play a game called Chinese Kanafoosi in which each person has to whisper something in his/her neighbour's ear and once the words are repeated then the game is over! As Billo Mausi whispers 'I Love You' into Jai's ears, he has no choice but relay it to Bani seated next to him. But he adds he has no intention of honouring it and Bani dutifully relays this to Jigyasa! Bani waits at a bus-stop but Jai opens the front door of his car for her!

Bani who is delighted for Pushkar who asks the media to await their MD who is none other than Roshni (Rakshanda Khan)-the person Jigyasa had spoken to on the phone earlier and invited to India. Jigyasa confesses that Billo Mausi's sudden appearance inspired her to call Roshni for she would now ensure the disappearance of these three sisters from their lives! Seated on the terrace, Roshni tries to take Jai on a walk down memory lane but Jai is firm that he has forgotten everything and suggests they go downstairs. Bani congratulates Pushkar on his new job and he is also amazed to meet Piya! Meanwhile, Dadi wonders how Billo Mausi will react if she comes to know the truth about Jai's marriage to Bani. Jigyasa introduces Bani to Roshni as a small town girl who made it big in Mumbai by marrying Jai! As Roshni invites Jai to her new sea-facing bungalow, Jigyasa asks Bani to follow her home.

Finally, dressed in a red pullover and blue jeans, Jai walks into their room to have a heart to heart talk with Piya declaring that she has changed his life and not just his way of dressing. In 40 years of his life, Jai confesses he has earned plenty of money but still there is an aching loneliness in his life that Piya alone can fill and proposes to her! But Piya breaks his heart by confessing that she can't take the most vital decision of her life without Bani's guidance. Frustrated, Jai has a drink but smashes the glass on the floor! Almost simultaneously, Bani is flooded with memories of the past as she takes Pushkar to the bungalow she grew up in. Pushkar shares her feelings and emotions of the past remarking on the irony of tears playing a major role in both. But Piya has already given those Khandani Kangans to a jeweler for a complete make-over as she felt they were too old fashioned! Bani is touched as she goes to Jai's cabin to pay the rent and he first refuses to accept it and then keeps it aside as her savings for he doesn't believe in charging rent from family members! And as Bani walks back to her cabin, she makes up her mind against yielding to Ranveer's demands. Bani saves Piya from Sarla's sharp eyes by getting the bangles back from their workshop and giving them to Pushkar who slips them on her wrists claiming it was Piya's wish! But Ranveer keeps calling Bani on her cell repeatedly making her decision all the more firm. But when he threatens to show the CD to Jai, Pushkar's family and make it available on the Internet, she has no hesitation in striking him on his skull with an iron vase hurting him badly!
