Lobster Trapping Long Island Sound - Summer 2012
Pulling Lobster pots, measuring lobsters and filling bait bags with bunker. April of 2012 in Long Island Sound. We "band" a few keepers and toss back a few shorts. These are classic New England Lobsters. - Keepers (in CT) must measure 3 15/16th of an inch from the back of an eye socket to the back of the carapace. "Shorts" are tossed back to grow some more!

Jigging Bluefish In Long Island Sound
Remember to please visit us at www.thefishingline.com or order any dvd's on this or any fishing subjects. This 2010 debut show is a beauty! This trip aboard the Capt. James Joseph from Huntington was open to our Message Board members and 40 of the showed up so they could fish on this TV show. This was filmed towards the end of October 2009, we pursue giant LI Sound Blues on the diamond jigs. We shot this a day or two after a huge Noreaster came through and on the full moon as well. The bunker had left the Sound at this point and these giant gorilla blues were looking for the sand eels and we gave them the ol' switcheroo with diamond jigs instead, and boy did they gobble them up. Capt. James & Rich Johnson discuss why the fish were on the jigs, what jigs to use and more importantly what jigs not to use, why they fish here after major storms and why the prefer the full moons up here in contrast to not liking them on the south shore. Lots of great tips and captain conversations as you would expect form The Fishing Line. Order the Home Release Version. The first episode is up, just click the movie projector. Capt. Private Library
A short film about New York architect Andrew Berman's dream project.
Commissioned to design a writing studio in the woods in Long Island, he took the challenge and created a building which seems to float in a sea of foliage.
The film, while informative conveys the tranquility of the building by simply inviting you to enter and experience the pace of the writer's world inside.

Full Story:
Inhale the fresh air, smell the refreshing scent of the green pine forests glowing above black volcano sands, no sound but the wind in the trees. A deep blue sky matches with the blue atlantic ocean far below. Epic volcanic trails lead trough an unique archaic landscape. Feel the elements. Be yourself, at the “Island in the Sky”.
This short film, a homage to the beautiful Island of La Palma - "Europe's Hawaii" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Palma) - was like a never ending project for me. More than one and a half years of work.... photographing, processing, re-processing, selecting and de-selecting footage, some weeks filming…
I had certain pictures in mind - the scenes, locations, and moods. Every interesting place I had spotted during many stays on the Island while Hiking or guiding Bike Groups was considered.
As often as possible I returned to Palma to let the film get reality (http://newswatch.nationalgeographic.com/2011/08/15/new-astro-timelapse-video-the-island-showcases-astronomy-haven/), but more than once got thrown back - bad weather, equipment malfunction or whatever.
I hiked up Volcanoes, stayed awake all night on stormy ridges, slept like a dead on the beach next morning. Pre-processed nights footage at the Apartment later, to validate what scenes worked, or needed to be repeated. Hurried back up the mountains before sunset for new setups. Finally got some rest and watched the clouds and stars move. Feeling small in the universe. And tired and dizzy, as well.
Night-Timelapse filming is an art, a struggle to live from, tough on your biorhythm – and needs a lot of passion, love and dedication. Passion for the work, love for nature and wilderness, being alone in the night. Back at the office in the timelapse studio it needs dedication and endurance in front of my workstations working trough the image data.
Which is the toughest part for me - I am not the office guy. I hate sitting in front of a Computer screen too much. And that is what you do with Timelapse. Way too much. After cleaning up the project, 906.65 GB and 83846 RAW images and movie-sequences remained for processing. And there is no automatism, each software at the workflow needs to be fed with each sequence separately, to deliver results...
On some key scenes of this film I have even worked over several months, trying different variations on color-reprocessing, iterating them many times. I am still not sure if they are good now. You judge.
Thanks to all who support me, especially my family. Thanks to Babak Tafreshi of Twanight.org for providing the legendary GRANTECAN Intro and MAGIC-from-the-side Footage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAGIC_(telescope). Props to the Folks at IAC.es and Visitlapalma.es! Horay to the team at TWANight.org for tips and feedback! Awesome to Nikon NPS!
Jesse Hozeny has provided an awesome soundtrack with "Miles High"! This ended a long search!

Mani Nasry an exceptionally talented filmmaker, actor and artist with a sophisticated breadth of education, skills, experience, and professional accomplishments. He trained as an actor and director in New York with Salem Ludwig and with Donna DeMatteo for playwriting. For Mani, the decision to work in the film industry guided his academic decisions from an early age. He attended a Toronto high school renowned for excellence in the arts, and was accepted into one of the highly competitive film program at Ryerson university. It is notable that he went to Ryerson with an already well-established career in theatre, film, television and commercial work, and a range of multi-faceted achievements including producing, cinematography, casting, writing, directing, acting, and editing. On his own he added stints in New York and Los Angeles with leading acting teachers, as well as learning the grace and style of many forms of dance and athletics. With courses perceptively, he has also recognized the importance of acquiring an understanding of the business side of the industry, and the varied aspects of technology and production. There are some people clearly born to follow the path they have chosen from the start. Mani Nasry has the passion to succeed, the curiosity and ingenuity required to lead and collaborate in an industry known for its impact and appeal, and the strength of character and work ethic to immerse himself in finding and telling an unforgettable story.

Images Of Western Australia's Kimberley
Sorry guys, this is a bit of a long one. If you start the movie and then read my ramble it should be ready to watch.
I was fortunate enough to be invited aboard possibly the greatest adventure cruise boat in Australia if not the world. The boat for those of you who have not heard of it is the "TRUE NORTH" and it circumnavigates the Australian continent visiting some of the most remote coastline in Australia and also ventures past these waters to many unseen Pacific Island destinations.
"TRUE NORTH" is designed for pure adventure whilst providing a 5 star luxury platform for those hours not spent diving off spectacular coral atolls, catching elusive Barramundi, swimming in pristine waterholes, or taking in a cultural experience first hand.
All these things are achieved by the incredible design of the "True North" with its shallow water ability and possibly the coolest thing ever, the Bell 407 helicopter. I can only speak of my personal experience on the East Kimberley expedition, and from the moment I landed on the heli deck I was in awe of this amazing vessel.
True North cruises effortlessly through the maze of waterways of the Kimberley placing you in the most amazing locations to maximize your experience. For those locations that can only be visited by helicopter True North's skillful pilot Rob would place you precariously on the edge of an amazing waterfall for a picnic lunch like no other or take you to a waterhole full of Barra that have never seen a fisherman.
The icing on the cake for me was the crew of the True North. Without a doubt these guy's and gal's are a credit to the whole experience of adventure, luxury, comfort, and endless excitement. With 1 crew member for every 2 passengers every need was covered and nothing was left wanting.
I have never seen such an awesome place as the Kimberley and I hope you can get a small sense of what it is like to visit here from my video. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and I must thank Mark and Craig for placing their faith in me to capture some amazing footage for them. I hope it can help in spreading the word about this amazing country and this truly unique experience.
"GO WILD IN STYLE" and check the boat for yourself at www.northstarcruises.com.au
For those of you interested more in how this was shot I used the following gear.
2 x Canon 5D MK2, Canon Prime lenses 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 400mm, Miller Tripod, Lee Filter Kit with grads, Fostex field recorder, Rode Mics, (Sorry about the audio in the fishing segment. That was straight from the camera as I wanted to catch a fish so I didn't set up proper sound.)
Edited in Final Cut Pro
Music from "The Rabbit Proof fence" by Peter Gabriel
"The Thin Red Line" by Hans Zimmer
These guys know how to write film scores.
For those of you who are interested check out our website www.christianfletcher.com.au christianfletcher.wordpress.com
Thanks for being patient to wait and watch this. I think it is worth it.

Dolphins in the Long Island Sound August 5, 2011
Went fishing for Porgies about a half mile off of TIdes Beach in Rocky Point when these guys showed up unannounced! AMAZING! Heard about this happening back in the early 1900's from some real old timers in the area, but this is the first time in my 50 years I've ever heard of it, and was actually lucky enough to see it first hand. They stayed around for a couple hours and then just dissppeared as quickly as they came.
