'Aane Do' is an interesting End of Era NEW WAVE song of Hindi Cinema in 1986...The Hindu-istic imagery and rhythm-based melody are still in place but the ORCHESTRATION seems lacking in work and care. A lot of the verve and ORCHESTRAL dynamism of earlier NEW WAVE of composers like BAPPI LAHIRI from 'Himmatwala' and 'Tofha' is beginning to fade away by 1986 and be replaced by the more lazy, bland and pedestrian ARRANGEMENTS and musical solutions that would become part of the GLOBALISED post-1980s 'Bollywood'. The choice of 'cheaper' price tag PLAYBACK SINGERS [professional singers who can sing in CINE-STYLE to promote film songs that actors with average voices mime to] like ANURADHA POUDWAL and SP BALASUBRAMANIAM also 'weakens' the song impact. However, these newer singers with voices seemingly 'inferior' vocals to the previous generation of ASHA BHONSLE and KISHORE KUMAR were to become the new style of 'Bollywood' where everything was to be more GLOBAL and less INDIAN. Indeed POUDWAL had begun recording in the late 1970s with quite an impressive traditional Punjabi style singing some stunning songs in LAMBERDARNEE [1980]. But later, the voice, or maybe the songs [?], degenerated and ANURADHA'S voice became part of the bland, plastic boring sound of 'Bollywood'... BALASUBRAMANIAM, like other male South Indian singers, comes from Tamil language with soft pronunciation and KANARTIC MUSICAL background, neither of which suit Hindi Cinema that well.
