Kokila was born on January 4, 1931 in Valsad, Gujerat, India, in the Gujerati-speaking Balsara family. She was married to Kamal Roy at a very young age. They have two sons, Yogesh and Kiran. In 1946, Roy and her husband responded to an advertisement in a Gujarati paper looking for actors. She was selected and started her acting career with the Gujarati film Ranakdevi. The same year she acted in her first Hindi film, Amar Raj. One of her popular films was Do Bigha Zameen (1953). She largely played mythological characters in the films of the 1940s and 50s. Her image of a goddess was very strong and people would visit her home and seek her blessings. Among her co-stars were Trilok Kapoor, Bharat Bhushan, Balraj Sahni and Ashok Kumar. In the 1970s, her roles as mother to the characters played by Amitabh Bachchan made her name synonymous to the impoverished suffering mother. Her role in Deewar (1975) and its dialogues with reference to a mother and son are used as clichés. Throughout her career of over 60 years in movies, she has acted in over 250 movies. she did slow down considerably in the 1980s, but did make a comeback in 1999 with Lal Badshah. Her end came quickly on October 13, 2004, at the age of 73, when she passed away after a cardiac arrest in Bombay. She will always be remembered, not only as the 'mother of Bollywood' for her roles in movies like Gunsundari, Rani Rupmati, Deewar, Amar Akbar Anthony and many others.

In the meantime Saraswati was about to come closer to Ganga. When Hansraj, who had earlier swindled the property of Ganga's father by illegal means wanted to get rid of the rightful owner Ganga, he got Ganga shot. Ganga was badly wounded and there was no hope of his survival.

Shobha (Nirupa Roy) is happily married to a Military Officer Amarjeet (D.K. Sapru), but they do not have any child for seven years. Shobha and Amarjeet attend their best friends Mr. & Mrs. Kaul's (Iftekhar & Chand Usmani) anniversary party. At the party, there is an attack from the rivals and Shobha gets unconscious at that time, where Asha tells Amarjeet she would take care of her as he had to leave immediately on the field. Laxmi (Nirupa Roy) is a simple honest and hardworking school teacher. She has three sons Ajay (Raj Kiran), Vijay (Mithun), Sanjay (Sachin) and a daughter Meena (Shardha Verma). The eldest son Ajay wants to be a collector and is preparing for the exams. Sanjay is studying law and wants to become a lawyer. The middle brother Vijay who loves to dance and sing has given up his studies after completing B.A. His full attention goes to his both the brothers. He works hard to ensure their necessities. . Vijay is in love with a girl called Radha (Madhvi) who runs a video parlour of her own. Vijays friend Dilip (Shakti Kapoor) also loves Radha and wants to marry her, Dilip also has an illict affair with the wife of his partner Gopal (Bharat Kapoor) who runs a chitfund company. He is a fraud and cheats a lot of people including Vijays mother Laxmi. There is a strong financial crisis. Vijay sets out in search of absconding Gopal whom police is also searching. Meanwhile Gopal who is on the run reaches the house of his partner Dilip only to find his wife in the arms of his partner. Gopal is furious and before he could anything Dilip kills him. Vijay who also reaches here witnesses the whole event. To save their house from being auctioned and his sisters marriage Vijay makes a deal with Dilip he takes the crime on his head. Vijay goes to jail while his sister gets married. In jail Vijay meets Azam Khan (Raza Murad). After completing his term of seven years of imprisonment Vijay comes out to see a changed world of his family. Their house is sold, his mother untraceable, his brother Ajay has become a collector.and Sanjay a famous and successful lawyer. Both of them behave very rudely to him. Success and money-collected from Dilip in from of bribery has gone to their head.One day Vijay finds his mother working as a labourer. He feels terrible pain for her and is furious at his brothers behaviour. He brings her to the slum where he lives. A school building collapses and many children die in the mishap. The builider is none other than Dilip. An enquiry commission is set-up by the Govt. under the chairmanship of Ajay. The enquiry begins leading to many un-precedented events such as kidnapping of Ajay's wife and attempt to rape her by Dilip. Vijay reaches in time to rescue her.
