To find out more about Premiership Rugby visit: www.premiershiprugby.com Premiership Rugby on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Winger Kyle Eastmond announced his arrival in rugby union with a sensational try to help Bath Rugby to a 30-23 Aviva Premiership success over London Wasps at the Rec. The former St Helens man arrived to much fanfare last season but injury restricted him to just three substitute appearances for Bath. However with everyone watching for Wasps' own diminutive winger Christian Wade, after his double against Harlequins at Twickenham last week, it was Eastmond who stole the show with his second-half score. Bath made the faster start and earned an early penalty as Wasps drove through a lineout taking Dominic Day out in the air and Olly Barkley made no mistake by slotting the three points. It took eight minutes for Bath to get Eastmond involved as the former league star went on a slippery run in midfield but as was the case for much of the opening stages, their handling let them down. Wasps had their first chance to hit back when Bath were penalised for not rolling away at a ruck but Nick Robinson missed an eminently kickable penalty. However the Welshman made amends after 17 minutes as he slotted an easy shot at goal on the right to draw the sides level. It was proving a cagey affair ...

Bath Rugby 46-14 Northampton Saints | LV= Cup Official Highlights -28-01-12
Bath in pole position for home cup semi-final Bath shook off their mid-winter blues with a 46-14 win over Northampton that puts them in pole position for a home semi-final in the LV= Cup. Northampton, missing 10 players to England and the second-string Saxons, were well in touch until the last quarter but were then blitzed by three tries in seven minutes from Olly Woodburn, Stephen Donald and Charlie Beech. Earlier tries had been scored by Ross Batty and Anthony Perenise - a spectacular sprint by the Samoan prop from nearly 40 metres, while Olly Barkley kicked 21 points. Saints' points came from a try by prop Alex Waller and three Stephen Myler penalties. Bath were missing just four players on England duty. Nick Abendanon, who was not included in the final Saxons squad, started at full-back and hooker Lee Mears was released from the senior camp to sit on the bench. Northampton gave full-back Paul Diggin his first start since October 8th, with Myler and Martin Roberts recalled at half-back. Bath sniffed an opening on the left early on but Abendanon was brought down just short of the line. Saints threatened briefly at the other end before Barkley opened the scoring with a 40-metre penalty in the eighth minute. Given another more difficult chance, Barkley saw his effort strike the bar. The onrushing Tom Biggs was quickest to the ball but tripped over an outstretched leg. Although referee Sean Davey judged it unintentional he took a harsher view of Myler's marginally high ...

To find out more about Premiership Rugby visit: www.premiershiprugby.com Premiership Rugby on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Stephen Donald won the battle of the former All Black fly-halves as he inspired Bath to a hard-fought 21-18 win over Nick Evans' Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership. Donald, who kicked New Zealand to World Cup victory last year, chalked up all 21 points for Bath, whose resilience ensured Quins suffered only their third defeat of the season. Evans was equally impressive and also scored all of his team's points but Bath edged out the Londoners thanks to Donald's unerring accuracy. Defending champions Harlequins began on the front foot and it was Evans who broke the deadlock on five minutes, slotting his first penalty of the night shortly before Donald missed his first attempt. The scrappy opening to this old-fashioned arm wrestle continued with only Nick Abendanon catching the eye through the mist that engulfed the Rec but Donald tied the scores on 16 minutes. And on 20 minutes, Bath should have scored the first try of the match when Matt Banahan charged down Quins full-back Tom Willams' kick and gathered but his pass to Semesa Rokoduguni was wayward and the Fijian failed to gather with the try-line beckoning. Evans made Bath swiftly pay by notching his second penalty of the ...

To find out more about Premiership Rugby visit: www.premiershiprugby.com Premiership Rugby on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Olly Barkley capped off his final match for Bath Rugby with a 31-10 win as Gary Gold's side handed Sale Sharks a fifth straight Aviva Premiership defeat. The 30-year-old, starting at fly-half, will depart for Racing Metro as a medical joker, but was on good kicking form as he racked up 16 points against the Sharks. Second-half tries from David Wilson, Stuart Hooper, as well as a penalty try, were enough for Bath to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats to Northampton Saints and London Irish. Sale, for whom Nick Macleod started at fly-half ahead of Danny Cipriani, managed a single penalty, in addition to Johnny Leota's try, as they still search for a first win of the campaign. It was the visitors who had the first chance of three points from just inside the Bath half but Macleod missed the shot at goal. Bath hit back with a penalty from Barkley and the departing fly-half added another three-pointer two minutes later to stretch the home side's lead to 6-0. It took the Sharks until the 15th minute to get on the board when Macleod made no mistake from 22 metres out. However in an edgy first half it was the home side who were just on top and Barkley added another three ...

To find out more about Premiership Rugby visit: www.premiershiprugby.com Premiership Rugby on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Gloucester Rugby recovered from a nightmare start to claim the bragging rights over West Country rivals Bath Rugby, Rob Cook's first-ever Aviva Premiership try handing them a 16-10 victory at Kingsholm. Less than a minute was on the clock when Stephen Donald went over and converted his own try to give Bath a dream start, adding a penalty as the visitors went in at the break 10-6 ahead. But Gloucester dominated the second half and Cook crossed to add to 11 points from the boot of Freddie Burns to extend the Cherry and Whites' unbeaten run to five Aviva Premiership games. Bath would have been looking to silence the raucous home support at Kingsholm in this West Country derby as early as possible and got the ideal start as Donald touched down after just 32 seconds. All eyes will be on Kiwi Donald now that Olly Barkley swapped the Rec for France and he did himself no harm here as he spotted a gap in the Cherry and Whites defence, bursting through it and running 40m to cross the whitewash, adding the extras himself for an early seven-point lead for Bath. Despite the early setback Gloucester were very much in the game, knocking on Bath's door but just lacking with the final ...

To find out more about Premiership Rugby visit: www.premiershiprugby.com Premiership Rugby on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Olly Barkley's flawless kicking display inspired Bath's comeback as they kicked off their Aviva Premiership season with a last-gasp 24-23 win over Worcester at Sixways. The Bath fly-half slotted over eight penalties, his last coming with the last kick of the game, as the visitors edged a topsy-turvy second half. Andy Goode's six penalties and an unconverted try from James Percival looked like being enough for the Warriors but Barkley held his nerve as time expired to ensure that Gary Gold's reign got off to a winning start. Referee Luke Pearce was a hawk at the breakdown throughout, penalising both sides frequently meaning that the goalkickers were key. And the 30-year-old Barkley emerged victorious in that battle as Goode missed a conversion and a late penalty as Richard Hill's men had to settle for a losing bonus-point. The first half was a disjointed affair and with only three minutes on the clock Goode showed a sign of things to come when he slotted over a penalty after Bath infringed at the breakdown. Two minutes later and the Warriors lead was 6-0 as Goode made no mistake from an identical position after yet more Bath indiscipline. The ...
