From 26th to 30th December 2013 District Line track works resulted in buses replacing Richmond & Wimbledon trains and Piccadilly Line trains replacing Ealing Broadway trains. Between Hammersmith and Acton Town stations *most* Piccadilly Line 1973 Tube stock trains travelled on District Line tracks and called at all stations. This film shows the Piccadilly Line 1973 Tube stock trains travelling on tracks normally used by District Line trains at Stamford Brook, Turnham Green, Chiswick Park and Ealing Broadway stations. In addition, some Piccadilly Line trains using their normal tracks are seen at Stamford Brook and Chiswick Park (the latter passing another Piccadilly Line train just after it left the station). Also seen at Ealing Broadway is a Central Line 1992 Tube stock train and a First GreatWestern HST.

A Mansion House train arrives at Blackfriars, we ride inside the train on its way to Mansion House station where it terminates in the bay platform. Then we see two other trains arriving here - and a few moments later we see them depart All trains are London Underground D78 stock. --------------------------------------------------------- It seems to be the intenton that when the District Line is resignalled the bay platform will be converted into a through track for eastbound trains and the present eastbound track and platform will be closed. Whilst I understand that pov I think that the existence of an emergency refuge will prove to be extremely valuable and that therefore it should be retained - even if it cannot be used by trains in public service. After all, its already there / its not as if millions need spending building it! The point is, once ATO is finally enabled any train which fails will need to crawl somewhere at a snails pace in restricted manual. So if (for instance) the problem occurs on an eastbound train at South Kensington then having to go all the way to Tower Hill (or worse, West Ham's new siding) will mess up the service and seriously inconvenience passengers. In the rush hours it would likely lead to stations having to be closed. OK, it would still take a while to reach Mansion House, but this would still be less time than anywhere else!

The Circle line C69/C77 stock is currently the oldest train in passenger service on London Underground. It serves the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines and the Wimbledon -- Earl´s Court -- Edgware Road branch on the District line, because the platforms at the stations between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road are too short for the District line D78 stock carriages. As it was built in 1969 and 1977, the C stock is also called the C69 and C77 stock. The remnants of carriages 6505 and 6713, which were damaged during the 7 July 2005 bombings, were used to build the new vehicles 6606 and 6734 (C08 stock). The C stock will be replaced by the new S7 stock trains until late 2014. The District line D78 stock carriages are used on the London Underground District line, except the Wimbledon - Earl´s Court - Edgware road service, which is provided by the C stock. It was ordered at Metro-Cammell in 1976 to replace the CO/CP and R Stock on the District line. The first train entered service on 28 June 1980 and the last one in 1983. Between 2005 and 2008, all 75 D stock units were refurbished. The D stock is due to be replaced by the new S7 stock trains by 2015, but no D stock train has been withdrawn yet. This video shows some Circle line C69/C77 and District line D78 stock trains arriving and departing at St. James´s Park station, which is in central London on the Circle and District line between Victoria station and Westminster station.
