Sinhala Language Resources for Beginners
Here are the resources I have for those wanting to learn Sinhala. Feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, etc. Hope this is helpful at least to give you title and authors to search online.
Also, I forgot to mention in the video:
"SAY IT IN SINHALA" by J. B. Disanayaka. That book has been very, very helpful. Would definitely recommend buying it. It outlines the language well.
"SINHALA" Phrasebook by Lonely Planet. It goes well with the "Say It In Sinhala" outline, is extremely helpful, and is decently priced.
"AN INTRODUCTION TO SPOKEN SINHALA" by W.S. Karunatillake -- I've heard this is helpful but I haven't be able to find it for a reasonable price, yet (price is in the hundreds from what I've seen).

Project Sri Lanka ... Sinhala ... part 3 of 14
Preparation for the 2008 trip of volunteers going to Gandarawatte - here you see a Sinhala lesson provided by the Durham University Sri Lankan society. Sinhala is the language most widely spoken in Sri Lanka (Tamil is also quite widely spoken in Sri Lanka, although not so much in the south where Gandarawatte is located).
For more information see below, the Project Sri Lanka webpage (link below) and other parts of this documentary.
Project Sri Lanka is an all-inclusive' project. It brings together Durham University students and staff with community and regional partners in activities which aim to assist with both the reconstruction and regeneration of tsunami devastated communities in Southern Sri Lanka and also with the long term sustainable development of both coastal and inland villages. It is grounded in humanitarian objectives. It has students and young people at the heart of it. It is underpinned by academic research and teaching in a wide range of disciplines which have relevance to understanding natural disasters and dealing with the effects of human tragedy.

Abheetha Diyani theme song
'Dong Yi - Jewel in the crown' is a world's famous and top rated Korean TV show and as well as it's a true story of that country. It has been screened in most of countries in the world and it has been dubbed by many languages. It is going to be telecasting in Sri-Lanka with 'Sinhala' language (Sri-Lanka's main language). Sri-Lanka Rupavahini TV Co-operation may does a great job to this and they have titled this as 'Abheetha Diyani'. That's a Sinhala term and they will make an awesome Sinhala theme song for it same as the 'Sujatha Diyani- Jewel in the palace'. I am waiting for that song as well to upload and it will be coming soon.

English meaning!
We are a proud land, we stand for freedom
we've got the franchise, on how to lead them
we've got the history, and books to prove it
give us the mountain, and we will move it
we rule the waves, and, the seven seas, we
bring the mighty, to thier knees
we offer hope, and inspiration
a fine example, to lesser nations
we are Britania, jewel in the crown
we brought a system, to the masses
divide a nation, into classes
it's in our breeding, and on our faces,
at least we're all born, knowing our places
we stay within our, social borders
we only take what, our class affords us
it doesn't matter, that it's not even
this is the nature, of the demon
we are Britania, jewel in the crown
[chorous]
we are Britania
we crowned an empire
we came and conqured
we tore thier borders down
we need no conscience
god is on our side
we are Britania
jewel in the crown
[short bridge]
we are your friendly, liberators
we'll free you countries, from your dictators
for a small slice, of your oil wells
we'll send our boys in, with thier bombshells
we are a refuge, for the needy
always caring, never greedy
whatever gesture, could be finer
we've given Hong Kong, back to China
we are Britania, jewel in the crown
[chorous]
jewel in the crown
jewel in the crown
jewel in the crown
