Visiting Oahu in a Day - Oahu Day Tour
http://www.maitravelsite.com
In this episode I join a circle island tour of Oahu, giving me the opportunity to see some of the best of the island in just one day. While the island is not very big there are indeed many things to see and do in Oahu, and an Oahu day tour makes this process much easier. Sure, you might not spend as much time as you'd like in each of the spots you visit, but if you do have a few days (which you probably do) you can always come back!
There is one thing that I really enjoyed about this day tour versus others I have been in and that is that besides learning what there is to do in Hawaii's main island the driver is enthusiastic, fun and knowledgeable. Many of the things he will explain are difficult to learn if you're on your own, so paying attention does make the trip more fun.
My favourite spots of all those visited were Hanauma Bay and the Byodo temple. Just a couple of days before I had snorkelled in Hanauma Bay (check my other video about my experience here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORnsV8S5vOM and visit my blog for more information on these and other places visited in thw tour) and it's something you must not miss as the bay is so close to Waikiki beach.
The places to visit in Oahu that this tour covers are a good selection, considering how much is being covered, but I highly recommend you do go again on your own. For example, the tour does not stop in Turtle Bay, probably the easiest place in Oahu where to conveniently spot and swim with turtles without having to pay for a tour (check my other video of this place http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XF4ryy_n8ko). There is a nice hotel and a few surf breaks nearby if you want to ride some waves while here.
I was less impressed with the Dole pineapple plantation; this is obviously a marketing stop to get tourists to spend some money. Sure, you will learn a few things about pineapples but like me you probably did not come to Hawaii for this. On the other hand, by the time you get here you will have already endured about 10 hours or more of the Oahu day tour, hence it's an opportunity to stretch your legs.
All things considered I think the tour is very good for those with little time, who just want a quick overview of the island or who simply want things done the easy way. As always, however, venture on your own and get lost while looking for hidden places to visit in Oahu.
Finally, make sure you also read this post from my budget travel blog with 5 tips that I guarantee will save you money when there, from where to find the cheapest surfboards for rent to the cheapest car rental agency in the island http://bit.ly/GxzYBo.

North Shore Oahu
Travel expert Veronica Hill of http://www.CaliforniaTravelExpert.com offers a North Shore Oahu travel guide through Haleiwa in this episode of "Hawaii Travel Tips."
In this Hawaii travel guide, Veronica offers tips on visiting North Shore Oahu attractions such as Haleiwa Beach Park, snorkeling at Shark's Cove and Three Tables, the sea turtles at Laniakea Beach (also called Turtle Beach), and the Waimea Falls, located inside Waimea Valley Park.
During your North Shore Oahu vacation, be sure to check out North Shore Oahu restaurants like Haleiwa Joe's, Ted's Bakery, Giovanni's Shrimp Truck, the Aoki's Shave Ice and Matsumoto Shave Ice shops and Ray's Wood-Fired Kiave Broiled Huli Huli Chicken. For a special treat, check out the Haleiwa Farmers Market on Sundays.
When looking for North Shore Oahu accommodations, you'll discover that there really aren't any North Shore Oahu hotels except for Turtle Bay Resort. However, you will find several North Shore Oahu vacation rentals, condos and bed and breakfast spots.
Haleiwa surf reaches its peak in the winter months, with waves up to 30 feet. For the latest North Shore surf report, call (808) 596-SURF or visit http://www.surfnewsnetwork.com. The official North Shore Chamber of Commerce is at http://www.northshoreoahu.org/
Thanks to The Entradistas' Andy Moore of Haleiwa, Hawaii for his cool North Shore music for this soundtrack.

Kualoa Adventure - Oahu Hawaii - Glidecam HD 4000
We filmed all this at Kualoa Hawaii. http://www.kualoa.com/
Stephen Anderson wrote the score specifically for this video. You can download the song on iTunes in the link below :)

I'm on facebook and twitter FINALLY! :)
https://www.facebook.com/devinsupertrampyoutube
http://twitter.com/devinsupertramp
Going back to the location where we filmed this, it is actually my favorite place in all of Oahu Hawaii. Without question the most scenic. It's also the main location in Oahu where Hollywood movies are filmed. Such movies as Jurassic Park, 50 First Dates, Godzilla, Wind talkers, Pearl Harbor Mighty Joe Young and even a great deal of the TV show LOST was filmed here.
It' also a huge tourist attraction where, as you can see, you can horseback ride, sail boat, 4 wheel, movie bus tours, jungle expedition, boat cruise, dinner, the list goes on :) It really is honestly the most photogenic place in all of Oahu. And by the way, I'm not paid to say that :) I actually did this video for free, there was no money involved. And I did it just because I love the location.
The staff at Kualoa ranch were super awesome/helpful to work with when filming this, super accommodating, and they helped with what we needed to get the shots we wanted. I would for sure reccomend this place to ANY PHOTOGRAPHER, or anyone who wants an escape from the everyday world! I really think this place is one of Hawaii's best kept secrets. It also has a super rich history, which you can also find out more about that on there website as well.
http://www.kualoa.com/
Super thanks to my friends who came with me to help film this video, Nate Smith, Clark Cahoon, and Jace LeRoy. And Spencer Turley who got me into contact with Kualoa originally.
On a technical level:
It was all filmed on a Canon 5D Mark II.
All at 24 fps, with two different Canon Lenses.
Canon 16-35mm F/2.8 L series lens
Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 L series lens
It took 5 days of filming to make this video happen. Filming 4 days of landscape stuff, just at sunrise and sunset. And then one FULL day of filming all the other people in it.
I organized it all for the day we shot all the people, and I got 65 of my friends/people in the community to come and help be a part of the video, it was a blast, but we were all dead tired afterwards.
As far as making the camera look like it was "flying", I used a glidecam 4000 HD for all those shots. You can check out the exact model on there official website below where you can also buy them, and I don't get paid to say that :)
http://www.glidecam.com/
I also go over a lot of camera questions I get asked in my blog right below in case you have more questions :)

Hawaii - Oahu Highlights

This was our bonus FREE trip to Oahu this past Christmas! Kim won two free flights and a few nights in Waikiki (from a raffle to raise money for Japan Tsunami relief) and we had a blast visiting Oahu for the first time! Also, everyone who visits Hawaii needs to attend a luau at least once -- but make sure it's in a beautiful location and not on a concrete rooftop! :)

Well-known features found on Oʻahu include Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Hanauma, Kaneʻohe Bay, Kailua Bay, and the North Shore. It also has the best food and shave ice we've found on any Hawaiian island!
