Get to know the town of Madison New Jersey. Madison is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, in the United States. MADISON, N.J., is so quaint and charming that people often say the downtown could pass for a movie set — which probably explains why it has done duty as a setting in films like "The World According to Garp" and "The Family Stone," and in episodes of "The Sopranos."
But there is much more to Madison than its manicured facade. As home to two colleges — Drew University and Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham — this borough of 16,000 residents, 25 miles west of New York, has an international flavor. And by the end of the summer, the area that includes Madison will gain the New York Jets football team, which is completing a corporate headquarters and training facility in Florham Park, on Madison's western border, and a number of executives and players are expected to become Madison residents.
"It's like a little U.N. around here sometimes, and I mean that in a good way," said Adrienne Kern, a mother of two, who has lived here 11 years with her husband, David. "People think there are just Wall Streeters living here."
Of course, diversity is a relative term in the suburbs, as revealed by numbers from the 2000 Census — the most recent available: 6 percent of the borough's population counted themselves as Hispanic and 4 percent as Asian. Of the students in Madison schools last year, 7.5 percent cited Spanish as their native language, and 1.7 percent cited Korean.
All of these assets — in addition to Madison's accessibility to Manhattan via New Jersey Transit — have helped buffer real estate prices somewhat, despite the general downturn. The schools are good, and crime is low, Ms. Holden said. The hot topic at the last borough council meeting, she added, was the possibility of changing the Memorial Day parade route.
Yes, Starbucks has moved in, and there is a Jaguar dealership on Main Street. But then again the shops at the center of town, near a tall clock, include an old-time independent pharmacy, a photo shop and a family jeweler. A hot-dog vendor works the sidewalk.
Main Street, in particular, can become crowded, even on days when there are no parades, and Ms. Holden is hoping to get a developer to build a parking garage in the downtown area. (Street parking is not always plentiful.)
"It's quiet here, and you can't go out at 2 in the morning and go to the diner," said Jennifer Catrini, a stay-at-home mother. "But there's no anonymity here, and a lot of people really like that."
Route 124, or Main Street, runs east-west through town and is lined with grocery stores, car dealerships, restaurants and shops. To the west of the town center is Drew University, on a picturesque wooded campus. The Fairleigh Dickinson campus straddles the border with Florham Park.
The train line runs parallel to Route 124, one or two blocks to the south, and the town hall, the train station and a Presbyterian church, with a pretty white spire, are near one another. Madison could pass (and sometimes has passed, in the movies) for a New England town.
The mix of houses, while relatively heavy on colonials, remains fairly eclectic. Interspersed among the center-hall homes on Prospect Street and its surrounding neighborhood are sprawling brick 1950s and '60s homes and impressive Victorians.
"The feel of the town is very pleasant," said Patricia Bowers, a Prudential New Jersey Properties agent based in Verona, because the land surrounding the houses tends to be "slightly larger than what you would expect for small colonials."
Madison, named after President James Madison, was nicknamed the Rose City because of a 19th-century rose-growing industry started by wealthy residents drawn to Madison by its location on the Morris & Essex train line. The town's seal includes a rose; its Web site is rosenet.org.

High School Musical (franchise)
The High School Musical franchise consists of three Disney musical romantic comedy-drama films directed by Kenny Ortega and created by Peter Barsocchini. It stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman. The original film was released simply as a Disney Channel Original Movie, but after its huge success, it was followed by a television sequel. The third film received a theatrical release. Tisdale and Grabeel reprised their roles as Sharpay and Ryan Evans in a spin-off on the series titled Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure, it was a direct to video film. Numerous international versions have been created, plus stage musicals and video games have been released, among other things.

A high school (also secondary school, senior school, secondary college) is a school that provides adolescents with part or all of their secondary education. It may come after primary school or middle school and be followed by higher education or vocational training.

The term "high school" originated in Scotland, with the world's oldest high school being Edinburgh's Royal High School from 1505. The Royal High School was used as a model for the first public high school in the United States, Boston Latin School founded in Boston, Massachusetts.

MADISON, N.J., is so quaint and charming that people often say the downtown could pass for a movie set — which probably explains why it has done duty as a setting in films like "The World According to Garp" and "The Family Stone," and in episodes of "The Sopranos."
But there is much more to Madison than its manicured facade. As home to two colleges — Drew University and Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham — this borough of 16,000 residents, 25 miles west of New York, has an international flavor. And by the end of the summer, the area that includes Madison will gain the New York Jets football team, which is completing a corporate headquarters and training facility in Florham Park, on Madison's western border, and a number of executives and players are expected to become Madison residents.
"It's like a little U.N. around here sometimes, and I mean that in a good way," said Adrienne Kern, a mother of two, who has lived here 11 years with her husband, David. "People think there are just Wall Streeters living here."
Of course, diversity is a relative term in the suburbs, as revealed by numbers from the 2000 Census — the most recent available: 6 percent of the borough's population counted themselves as Hispanic and 4 percent as Asian. Of the students in Madison schools last year, 7.5 percent cited Spanish as their native language, and 1.7 percent cited Korean.
All of these assets — in addition to Madison's accessibility to Manhattan via New Jersey Transit — have helped buffer real estate prices somewhat, despite the general downturn. When in New Jersey, we always visit New York. This time the boys watched the Broadway play Shrek while Emma and Rae watched the Broadway play Little Mermaid. After that we went to the M&M; store, stolled around Time Square, and ate at McD's while Rae did some sidewalk vendor shopping. We had a great time! When in New Jersey, we always visit New York. This time the boys watched the Broadway play Shrek while Emma and Rae watched the Broadway play Little Mermaid. After that we went to the M&M; store, stolled around Time Square, and ate at McD's while Rae did some sidewalk vendor shopping. We had a great time! NY was particularly very busy at this time with plenty of tourists like us because it was just the 4th of July holiday yesterday. As you can see parang piyesta kahit saan ka pumunta.

Thank you. Wow, what a warm welcome. It’s an amazing feeling to be up here and see this. When I was asked to give the sermon by our senior pastor, I realized as I thought about it that this will be the fifth sermon I’ve ever given in my life. Can you imagine? I’ve always been the kind of person who looks for the talents that people have, and I want to support other people in bringing out those talents. So it was quite a shock for me when I realized I’m going to be the one up at this podium this time.
Good morning and welcome to Lovin’Life Ministries at the beautiful Manhattan Center in New York City. I must say that things look a lot different from up here. I think all of you should try this sometime.
I want to thank everyone from around the world who has joined us today, and I want to say a special thank you to our senior pastor and all the families from New York and New Jersey that have been supporting the development of Lovin’ Life Ministries and this amazing broadcast. Thank you.
Our senior pastor, Rev. In Jin Moon, used to always sing a song for her parents called “The Wind Beneath My Wings.” I think she sang this for her mom, our True Mother, because her mother always lifted her up and encouraged her.
Our senior pastor has been the wind beneath our wings and allowed us to fly to places that we never thought we could go years ago, don’t you think? Sometimes when I’m watching the big screen in Ohio or Indiana or some of the other states, I have wondered if the families in New York and New Jersey realize what an amazing difference they’re making in communities across America. Each Sunday as you applaud and create this high spirit, we feel it everywhere. Thank you.
In Jin Nim has been the wind beneath my wings as a district pastor, allowing me to shine and lead, and encouraging me to be excellent in whatever I choose to embark on.
Following Our Senior Pastor
I must say that in the beginning of our ministry there were some things that I did not really understand. Was that correct for all of you, too? It was something different. I was more like a groupie following a rock star. As I grew in the ministry, however, I became a partner and an owner of my faith. Our ministry has become more than a Sunday event; it has become a lifestyle, a Lovin’ Life lifestyle.
Over the last three years attendance is up, tithing is up, new members are joining. New people are being called by God to be leaders, like the Rev. Gaines in Atlanta, Cliff and Tiff. Hey, Cliff and Tiff. And Reverend Herndon, now helping us out in Ohio.
When I was thinking about our live broadcasts and the different speakers we have enjoyed, the image of Forrest Gump came to my mind – when he’s sitting at the bus stop talking about what his mama used to say. “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get.”
Listening to our national staff and our district pastors has been a wonderful experience. They are all the same on the outside, like pure chocolate, but when they shared with us on Sunday we were able to discover a lot of different flavors.
Our senior pastor is a hard act to follow, with her passion for a ministry that can change lives and her sermons filled with stories of True Parents and True Family.
I have always been encouraged by her faith and her belief that we could move mountains. Today I feel like I’m standing in front of a mountain and praying that God will help me move it, so I think I have a lot of growing still to do.
She won my heart in our first district pastors’ meeting when she shared with us that she did not have to tell us what to do, that we should watch what she does and do it. Little did I know that that would lead me to a podium with all of you today. What amazing lives we live!

First, however, I would like to share a little about myself.
My name is Michael Lamson, and I’m honored to be the district pastor of District 6. It’s a wonderful district comprising a group of the most interesting states. Some would consider them fly-over states until there’s an election, when everyone realizes how powerful we are. When I travel through Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Indiana and Kentucky, I realize what amazing families we have in our ministry. And I have to give a big shout-out to all the families in my district. Hey, guys!
When our movement launched this new ministry, it was a really big step for some communities to switch to a live broadcast, but we did it. The communities in every state took that leap of faith, united with our senior pastor’s vision, and God rewarded us with happier, healthier communities, families, and children. And it’s amazing what we’ve done in three years.

When I travel through Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Indiana and Kentucky, I realize what amazing families we have in our ministry. When our movement launched this new ministry, it was a really big step for some communities to switch to a live broadcast, but we did it. The communities in every state took that leap of faith, united with our senior pastor’s vision, and God rewarded us with happier, healthier communities, families, and children. On October 17, 2016, the Institute for Public Knowledge hosted a book launch for Rebecca Solnit and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro's Nonstop Metropolis: A New York City Atlas. The editors were in conversation with several contributors, including IPK Visiting Scholar Garnette Cadogan.
Nonstop Metropolis, the culminating volume in a trilogy of atlases, conveys innumerable unbound experiences of New York City through twenty-six imaginative maps and informative essays. Bringing together the insights of dozens of experts—from linguists to music historians, ethnographers, urbanists, and environmental journalists—amplified by cartographers, artists, and photographers, it explores all five boroughs of New York City and parts of nearby New Jersey. We are invited to travel through Manhattan’s playgrounds, from polyglot Queens to many-faceted Brooklyn, and from the resilient Bronx to the mystical kung fu hip-hop mecca of Staten Island. The contributors to this exquisitely designed and gorgeously illustrated volume celebrate New York City’s unique vitality, its incubation of the avant-garde, and its literary history, but they also critique its racial and economic inequality, environmental impact, and erasure of its past. Nonstop Metropolis allows us to excavate New York’s buried layers, to scrutinize its political heft, and to discover the unexpected in one of the most iconic cities in the world. But there is much more to Madison than its manicured facade. As home to two colleges — Drew University and Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham — this borough of 16,000 residents, 25 miles west of New York, has an international flavor. And by the end of the summer, the area that includes Madison will gain the New York Jets football team, which is completing a corporate headquarters and training facility in Florham Park, on Madison's western border, and a number of executives and players are expected to become Madison residents.
"It's like a little U.N. around here sometimes, and I mean that in a good way," said Adrienne Kern, a mother of two, who has lived here 11 years with her husband, David. "People think there are just Wall Streeters living here."
Of course, diversity is a relative term in the suburbs, as revealed by numbers from the 2000 Census — the most recent available: 6 percent of the borough's population counted themselves as Hispanic and 4 percent as Asian. Of the students in Madison schools last year, 7.5 percent cited Spanish as their native language, and 1.7 percent cited Korean.
All of these assets — in addition to Madison's accessibility to Manhattan via New Jersey Transit — have helped buffer real estate prices somewhat, despite the general downturn. The schools are good, and crime is low, Ms. Holden said. The hot topic at the last borough council meeting, she added, was the possibility of changing the Memorial Day parade route.
Yes, Starbucks has moved in, and there is a Jaguar dealership on Main Street. But then again the shops at the center of town, near a tall clock, include an old-time independent pharmacy, a photo shop and a family jeweler. A hot-dog vendor works the sidewalk.
Main Street, in particular, can become crowded, even on days when there are no parades, and Ms. Holden is hoping to get a developer to build a parking garage in the downtown area. (Street parking is not always plentiful.)
"It's quiet here, and you can't go out at 2 in the morning and go to the diner," said Jennifer Catrini, a stay-at-home mother. "But there's no anonymity here, and a lot of people really like that."
Route 124, or Main Street, runs east-west through town and is lined with grocery stores, car dealerships, restaurants and shops. To the west of the town center is Drew University, on a picturesque wooded campus. The Fairleigh Dickinson campus straddles the border with Florham Park.
The train line runs parallel to Route 124, one or two blocks to the south, and the town hall, the train station and a Presbyterian church, with a pretty white spire, are near one another. Madison could pass (and sometimes has passed, in the movies) for a New England town.
The mix of houses, while relatively heavy on colonials, remains fairly eclectic. Interspersed among the center-hall homes on Prospect Street and its surrounding neighborhood are sprawling brick 1950s and '60s homes and impressive Victorians.
"The feel of the town is very pleasant," said Patricia Bowers, a Prudential New Jersey Properties agent based in Verona, because the land surrounding the houses tends to be "slightly larger than what you would expect for small colonials."
Madison, named after President James Madison, was nicknamed the Rose City because of a 19th-century rose-growing industry started by wealthy residents drawn to Madison by its location on the Morris & Essex train line. The town's seal includes a rose; its Web site is rosenet.org.
