哈尔滨英文城市宣传片Harbin China
Harbin (Chinese: 哈尔滨; pinyin: Hā'ěrbīn (help·info) [xɑ́ɻpín]; Manchu language: , Harbin; Russian: Харбин́ Kharbin listen (help·info)) is the capital and largest city of Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China, as well as the tenth most populated city in the People's Republic of China. According to the 2010 China census data, the city's urban area has 5878939 inhabitants, while the total population of the sub-provincial city is up to 10635971. Harbin serves as a key political, economic, scientific, cultural and communications hub in Northeast China. Harbin, which is originally a Manchu word meaning "a place for drying fishing nets", grew from a small rural settlement on the Songhua River to become one of the largest cities in Northeast China. Founded in 1898 with the coming of the Chinese Eastern Railway, the city first prospered as a region inhabited by an overwhelming majority of the Jewish immigrants. It is known for its bitterly cold winters and is often called the "Ice City." Harbin is notable for its beautiful ice sculptures in winter and its Russian legacy, and still plays an important part in Sino-Russian trade today. In the 1920s, the city was considered China's fashion capital as new designs from Paris and Moscow reached there first before arriving in Shanghai. In 2010 it was declared a UNESCO "City of Music". en.wikipedia.org zh.wikipedia.org www.harbin.gov.cn

Harbin Ice and Snow Festival, Harbin (China) - Travel Guide
Take a tour of Harbin Ice and Snow Festival in Harbin, China -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. The wealth of snow and ice produced in northeastern China provides the perfect setting for a magical sight; the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival. This festival, which began in 1963, was stayed for a number of years by the Chinese Cultural Revolution, but was resumed again in 1985. Each year the festival is themed and usually takes inspiration from Chinese fairy tales or noteworthy monuments around the world. The festival displays an abundance of different nationalities and cultures both in the sculptures themselves, and the teams who craft them. These elaborate and intricately carved sculptures can take a team of experienced sculptors the full month of the festival to complete. Make the most of a cold day or brave a winters night when these massive creations come alive with vivacious lights, at the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival.

SILENCE OF DEATH directed by Mani Nasry (16MM FILM) 1ST YEAR RYERSON UNIVERSITY STUDENT FILM

This Scene expresses- FEAR- noun: an emotion experienced in anticipation of some specific pain or danger (usually accompanied by a desire to flee or fight). noun: a feeling of anxiety and agitation caused by the presence or nearness of danger, evil, pain, etc.; timidity; dread; terror; fright; apprehension. Terrify not your soul with vain imaginary fears. By realizing that you are the one feeding the fire, you can start to take control of your fears. Panic is a vicious cycle that can be broken. When you start to have irrational fears you need to take action quick. Eleanor Roosevelt once said: "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing, which you think you cannot do." We must stop running away from things that frighten us, face our fears head on, and do the thing we fear the most. Most of the time we'll find out that the "thing" was not that scary after all. Our imaginations had behaved like a super fertilizer and grown a grotesque monstrosity in our minds. Remember, our imaginations are incredibly powerful. They can work against us, creating horrible images that leave us paralyzed with fear and they can also work for us, building a world where everything we do is an adventure, a miracle. And the most amazing thing is that we hold the power to control our minds - we allow fear to dominate our lives or we choose to dominate fear. Those are our only two choices.

China's Harbin 2008 Ice Festival Fun (哈尔滨冰雪大世界)
My friends and I went to Harbin for the "Ice Festival," that strange English translation for Harbin's annual winter celebration that amounts to what is essentially a frozen theme park. Harbin was the coldest place I have ever been to, or ever want to go: those giant snow and ice sculptures didn't melt in the least, and even under multiple thick layers and in waterproof boots, everything was slowly going numb as we walked through a truly unique winter wonderland.

1928 Harbin China Original Movie Film
This video was taken by an American family on a world tour in 1928. The 16 mm film is in very good condition for its age. It has never been made public until now. This short video provides insight to Harbin, China, and the Russian influence at this point in time. Ordinary life is seen as well as the great architecture. This might historically be one of the first films of Harbin and early China.

China's Harbin-Dalian high-speed rail to begin operation
The high-speed railway connecting China's major northeastern cities of Harbin and Dalian will begin operation next Saturday. The Ministry of Railways said all final preparations have been made. The high-speed railway can travel at 350 kilometres per hour in minus forty degrees Celsius. It is the only high-speed railway in the world designed for a frozen, high-altitude region. The new line is 921 kilometres long and has 24 stops, covering major cities in Northeast China. Zhou Li, Diector of China's Ministry of Railways, said, "Besides the low temperature, the region along the line can see maximum snowfall of 30 centimeters and maximum 205 centimeters depth of frozen ground." Special snow melting and anti-freezing facilities are built into the roadbed and power substations. And after extensive testing, it's all systems go. Zhou Li, said, "The key parts of the train's equipment have passed the low temperature test. The trains for the line have conducted their operation tests." The railway is expected to make travel easier and to bring economic benefits to the region. It will ease the freight transportation capacity on railways in northeast China. And passengers will benefit too. The high-speed line will cut travel time between Dalian and Harbin by as much as 9 hours.
