He's a director, a producer, a financier, a costume maker, set designer, screenwriter, cameraman, sound engineer... and he's also a film theorist. His masterwork on aesthetics and practice is "On the Art of Cinema" (written and published in the early 1970s). In it he gives himself the humble title, "Genius of the Cinema." Welcome to Bedroom Tycoon! This is the introductory video where I inform you, my children, of what I aim to achieve! I am starting out fresh: no film equipment at all I filmed this on my iPod, using the standard iPod microphone, without a tripod or a lighting set-up and although I did edit it using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 I only used simple continuity editing. Therefore, the video in itself is quite poor quality, however progression is the whole point of the bedroom studio! The idea is that I use my limited resources to develop an independent film studio in my bedroom for cheap, making DIY videos and so forth along the way, and you people get to watch as I improve my stuff - to the point that I can make legitimate professional looking short films and maybe even a webseries! I plan to acquire a Canon eos 550D / t2i and build a video-editing specific computer and get Adobe After Effects and so forth. I don't know why you would still be reading this now as I am just dribbling on so that the youtube bot has lots of keyword-rich information for the search engine... sneaky I know. But please stop reading if you're bored, no one but a machine is actually meant to read this :D So I am a film student and Indy Mogul was pretty good for starting out, I particularly like their Awesome Directors Project, especially Tom Antos who makes things like angry birds real life on polcan99 and Oliver Mellan. DIY tutorials are pretty helpful as well, you know build a cheap camera dolly and awesome steadicam technique and stuff like that. Friday 101 is another good show on Indy Mogul. What else... Ah! Yeah in the future I might make a noir superhero show, which would be pretty awesome / spectacular / brilliant. It might have teleporting and other superpowers that I will edit in. I was thinking of making a music video for a Tin Sparrow (from Triple J unearthed, whom I saw at a Boy and Bear concert) song: Fool's Gold. It would be something about pirates or cowboys either having a showdown that ends up as a ping pong match, or an epic battle for a coffee machine or something groovy like that. Problem with that is I don't own a horse or a pirate ship like Pirates of that Carribean. If you're still reading this, I am amazed. Almost as amazed as if I saw a flash mob or something. I'm surprised I haven't reached the character limit yet. Oh yeah if you haven't seen Video Game High School (VGHS) by freddie wong (freddiew) I'd recommend it. Its very professionally done and quite hilarious. It would be cool to make some action shorts on this channel. Maybe I will. Machine guns and bombs and explosions and spies and bullet wound effects. Like Call of Duty. I myself have made a bullet shooter rig, it works well, built it from Eric Beck's design in the pilot episode of BFX. In Australia however I couldn't find the right parts so I just got some plumbing tubes and glued it all together with epoxy. Cat videos. Just going to throw that one out there. Who doesn't love cat videos (many, many people). Nyan cat. What a fantasmical creature. He is definitely not a beached whale. Flying in the sky, salad fingers will never get him. I'm bored now and my fingers are sore from typing AND I have a IB chemistry paper 3 and an english paper 1 to sit tomorrow. A pity. Exams are almost over and then more videos shall come!
