Purusha Suktam - the Source of all - know the essence of the Vedas
English Translation by Ramesh Krishnakumar, to the invocative rendering by Vedic priests
The hymns are found originally in the Rig Veda, later, it is seen in the Shukla Yajur Veda, the Krishna Yajur Veda, the Sama Veda, and the Atharvana Veda, with some modifications and redactions.
Since the Purusha Suktam is seen in all Vedas, it is cited as the essence of all Srutis by Veda Vyasa in the Mahabharata. Saunaka, Apastamba, and Bodhayana have also written concerning the power of the Purusha Suktam
No Vedic Yagna is performed without the chanting of the Purusha Suktha.
Purusha is the source of all creation. The Suktham describes this form of his, as having countless heads, eyes, legs, manifested everywhere, and beyond the scope of any limited method of comprehension. All creation is but a part of him. The Suktham describes the creative process in the universe and the oneness in all.

Rig Veda Full Purusha Suktam Devanagari Sanskrit English translations.wmv
This meditatively soft authentic rendering is by the Omkar Vedic Sadhana Center and is from the album Vedic Hindu Chants. It contains entire hymn slokas in Devanagari Sanskrit lyrics with English translations.
About Purusha Suktam:
This Suktam is found in Rig Veda (10.90) and is considered most commonly as a Rig Vedic Hymn.
But this Suktam in exact same verses is also contained in the Taittiriya Aranyaka (Krishna Yajur Veda, Taittiriya Samhita: Aranyaka Shakha, Third Prashna -- 3.12 and 3.13) as used for this video.
This audio rendition is as per the Krishna Yajur Veda svaras (musical intonations).
The Purusha Suktam exact same Hymn also is contained in the Atharvaveda (19.6), Samaveda (6.4) and Yajurveda (VS 31.1-6). The Purusha Suktam has been commented upon in the Shatapatha Brahmana, the Taittiriya Brahmana, the Shvetashvatara Upanishad, Mudgala Upanishad and the Vajasaneyi Samhita (31.1-6). Among Puranic texts, the Sukta has been elaborated upon in the Bhagavata Purana (2.5.35 to 2.6.1-29) and in the Mahabharata (Mokshadharma Parva 351 and 352).
The Purusha Suktam is one of the few Rig Vedic hymns still in current daily usage in contemporary Hinduism like the Gayatri mantra.
The Purusha Suktam is considered by the Sri Vaishnava Sampradaya (tradition) as one of the Pancha (five key) Suktams. The other four are the Narayana Suktam (all verses uploaded in another video - also containing Devanagari Sanskrit text with English translations), Sri Suktam (also uploaded), Bhu Suktam (uploaded) and the Nila Suktam.

Purusha Suktam
Purusha sukta/sookta (puruṣa sūkta) is hymn 10.90 of the Rigveda, dedicated to the Purusha, the transcendental "cosmic primordial man". As per one version, the Suktam has 16 verses, 15 in the anuṣṭubh meter, and the final one in the triṣṭubh meter. While, the other version of the Suktam consists of 24 verses with the first 18 mantras designated as the Purva-narayana, and the later portion termed as the Uttara-narayana. A rarely used version of the Suktam has additional 6 verses appended to the end, which portion is termed as theVaishnava-anuvaka since it has been adopted from the Vishnusukta, a composition of the Rigveda Samhita. The verses of the Uttara-narayana and the Vaishnava-anuvaka do not possess any coherence with the original 16 verses of the Rigveda Samhita, the liereary and Vedic tradition has tied them together for reasons not yet known.
Purusha sukta/sookta is the only Rigvedic hymn dedicated to the Purusha, and thus, even though appearing in a late book of the Rigveda, the oldest attestation of the Purusha.[1]
As a creation hymn, the Suktam is monotheistic and pregnant with philosophical speculations. In its archaic mythological setting, the Suktam is in striking contrast to the famous creation account of Rigveda v.10.129-130.
In fact, the concept of Purusha pre-dates the cult-based ascriptions like Vaishnavite Sri Vishnu or the Shaivite Bhava. The Purusha was conceptualised as the primordial existence, transcending all Gods and even the creator. However, subsequently, in the cult-based Vaishnavite interpretation, the Purusha sukta was taken to identify Vishnu as the Supreme Being and to draw parallel to the Vishwa Rupa of the Lord Vishnu.
The Purusha sukta is found in all the four Vedas and is therefore mentioned in the Pancaratras and the Puranas as the most important Vedic hymn along with the Gayatri mantra, and it is regularly chanted in Hindu worship/Vedic rituals. Generally, the suktam is recited and the Purursha is invoked during idol installation ceremonies of Lord Vishnu.

Purusha Suktam - Slokam - A daily prayer
Purusha is one of the Gods described in the Vedas and is often translated as male. But the word actually indicates Lord Vishnu, who is the God among the great trinity in charge of the care of the created beings.Purusha in this Suktham is described as a gigantic personality who is spread everywhere. A daily prayer. I enjoyed making this video.

Purusha suktam
Purusha suktam is hymn 10.90 of the Rigveda, dedicated to the Purusha, the "cosmic man". The Purusha was conceptualised as the primordial existence, transcending all Gods and even the creator.
Purusha is described as a primeval gigantic man, and from whose body the world and the varnas (class) are built. He is described as having a thousand heads and a thousand feet. He emanated Viraj, the female creative principle, from which he is reborn in turn before the world was made out of his parts.
In the sacrifice of Purusha, the Vedic chants were first created. The horses and cows were born, the Brahmins were made from Purusha's mouth, the Kshatriyas from his arms, the Vaishyas from his thighs, and the Shudras from his feet.[2] The Moon was born from his spirit, the Sun from his eyes, the heavens from his skull. Indra and Agni emerged from his mouth.
