But don't let the substandard commentating diminish your enjoyment of Thompson's breakout game against the Blazers. It was really impressive, so impressive that I'm not even going to call him a bust in this description even though he pretty much is. He's earned it.

Biography:
Tristan Trevor James Thompson (born March 13, 1991) is a Canadian professional basketball player with the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association. He played with the 2010--11 Texas Longhorns men's basketball team. Thompson was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 4th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. Tristan was born in Brampton, Ontario, and is the eldest of four sons of Trevor and Andrea Thompson, who are of Jamaican descent.His brother Dishawn Thompson currently plays high school basketball in Canada where he is a highly rated prospect. He is also the cousin of former Virginia State University Trojan football standout, and current Canadian Football League Defensive Tackle Jemal Thompson of the Toronto Argonauts Thompson started his high-school career playing basketball at St. Marguerite d'Youville Secondary School in Brampton. After driving from Brampton twice to visit a prep school in the United States, he decided to attend Saint Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey for his sophomore year along with fellow University of Texas at Austin commit Myck Kabongo. He cited the increase in exposure and skill level as his reason for transferring schools.Thompson spent his sophomore and half his junior year at St. Benedict's, making an immediate impact and showing flashes of brilliance throughout the way. In his short time at St. Benedict's, he shot through the ranks to super-stardom, becoming the top recruit in the nation entering his junior season. The top basketball programs in the nation heavily sought Thompson, who made the first verbal commitment of the class of 2010 to Rick Barnes and the Texas Longhorns. 21 games into his junior year, the relationship between Thompson and then-St. Benedict's coach-Dan Hurley hit a rough patch. Hurley's in-your-face, no holds barred coaching style took a toll on the young star. During a game against then-top-ranked Mater Dei, Hurley confronted Thompson during a time out. A heated debate ensued, and Thompson was sent off the court and later removed from the team. Over the next few days he made it known that he was planning to leave, resulting in a barrage of calls from the top prep schools throughout North America, all trying to acquire the top recruit's services. The next week he transferred to Findlay Prep with his friend, AAU teammate and future Texas Longhorn Cory Joseph.Thompson joined Findlay on the back end of their schedule, making an immediate impact on the team and thriving under Findlay Coach Michael Peck's system and coaching style. Thompson solidified his top recruit status and helped lead Findlay to their first National Championship. He continued to round and polish his skills his senior year in preparation for college and continued to hold fast to his commitment to the University of Texas, officially signing his letter of intent on November 11, 2009. Thompson then led his team to another National Championship at the ESPN National Championship Invitational. After their senior year, Thompson and Joseph were the fourth and fifth Canadians to be named McDonald's All-Americans following Bill Wennington (1981), Barry Bekkedam (1986) and Olu Famutimi (2003). CANADA BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNERSHIP
Junior Men`s National Team testing by Sport Testing Inc.
Toronto, ON -- June 12 - Canada Basketball today announced a partnership with Sport Testing Inc. to provide basketball-specific athletic performance testing across its national programs. Athletic performance testing is increasingly used by amateur and professional sports associations across North America, giving athletes and coaches a wealth of individualized information to assess an athlete's capability as part of developing personalized training programs and promoting talent in an organization.
Sport Testing Inc. is the industry standard for sports testing - eliminating guesswork for athletes, coaches and scouts in benchmarking performance at every level of sport. Tests designed by the Sport Testing's experts simulate game play to scientifically assess skills and fitness. Athletes are typically invited to events known as "sport combines" that combine certain sport specific conditioning drills to determine speed, strength and skill level depending on the sport.
"Sport Testing is respected for conducting professional combines across many sports. Its highly accurate testing technology, comprehensive data collection and analysis, and staff expertise made them the obvious choice," said Michele O'Keefe, Executive Director at Canada Basketball. "Together with Sport Testing, we will be able to give our young hopefuls detailed information about their performance and progress as they develop."
Canada Basketball, which recently announced Victoria-born NBA star Steve Nash as the new GM for its senior men's program, will use the results of these assessments as an important tool in identifying top talent.
"We are looking forward to our partnership with an organization that shares our enthusiasm and vision," said Jonathon Hollins, President of Sport Testing. "Our combines are becoming essential in all sports. Athletes, coaches, scouts and even parents want to know where athletes stand among their peers, as well as their progress over time."
Canada Basketball and Sport Testing will operate talent identification testing combines throughout Canada with stops in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax. All Canada Basketball athletes will be invited to attend these combines and participate in basketball-specific testing protocols that assess the athletes' endurance, reaction times, speed, agility and strength.

Miami Heat versus Cleveland Cavaliers Pick Prediction NBA Pro Basketball Odds Preview 3-20-2013
The 52-14 Miami Heat will travel to face the 22-45 Cleveland Cavaliers in an NBA pro basketball game on Wednesday night. Tip off time from Cleveland is scheduled for 7PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by the NBA League Pass Channel.
The odds from this NBA pro basketball game will be out on Wednesday afternoon as Dion Waiters for Cleveland is listed as questionable with a sore left knee.
This is the third meeting of the season between these two teams with Miami winning and covering the spread in both games. Each game went over the total and was played at Miami.
Miami has a road record of 22-11 on the season. Their win streak reached 23 games following a 105-103 road victory at the Boston Celtics on Monday as a -6 point betting favorite. The game finished over 191 ½ points. The Heat overcame a 17 point first half deficit in the win. They shot 49.4% from the floor and connected on 7 of 20 from three point distance. Miami Heat survived allowed Boston 54.2% shooting and forced 21 Celtics turnovers. LeBron James led the team with 37 points and 12 assists on 16 of 29 shooting. Miami has performed well on the offensive end of the court as they rank in the top five in scoring offense, field goal and three point shooting.
The Cavaliers are 13-20 straight up on their home court. They lose their third straight and fifth in six games following a 111-90 home defeat to the Indiana Pacers on Monday as a +7 point underdog. The game came over 187 ½ points. The Cavs fell behind by 15 points at the break. They shot just 38% from the floor and hit on 6 of 24 from three point distance. Cleveland allowed 44.3% shooting to the Pacers and the Cavaliers pulled down 12 less rebounds. Tristan Thompson led the Cavs with 20 points and 11 rebounds on 9 of 16 from the field. The Cavaliers have defended poorly this season as the team ranks 30th and last in defensive field goal percentage by giving up 47.7% shooting from the field.
