2009 calavera tom and josh edit
Tom Jennings and Joshua Stehlik play William S. Burroughs and Joan Vollmer Burroughs in Edith Abeyta's "El Hombre Invisible" entry in this calavera fashion show. From the program: "William S. Burroughs and Joan Vollmer Burroughs -- William S. Burroughs, writer, counterculture hero and father of the Beats, accidentally shot his wife Joan Vollmer Burroughs, a significant contributor to the Beat movement in her own right, on 6 Sep 1951 while doing their "William Tell routine" during a party at their Mexico City apartment. In the introduction to QUEER, a novel written in 1952, Burroughs states 'I am forced to the appalling conclusion that I would never have become a writer but for Joan's death... [S]o the death of Joan brought me into contact with the invader, the Ugly Spirit, and maneuvered me into a lifelong struggle, in which I had no choice except to write my way out'." -- Edith Abeyta The outfits are made of clear plastic, with strips of book pages from QUEER (tom) and JUNKIE (josh), naked and exposed. Thanks to Dina for taking the video!

The Mad Ones: A Brief History of the Beat Generation
When I was 16, I had a school project to do about the Beat Generation. I decided that making a mockumentary would be a lot of fun, thus constructing this video. I am 20 now, and this video is starting to get a bit of internet attention.

William Borroughs - Art News
