This clip is actually two separate pieces of footage of the same stretch of road, and in both cases in the same order (the first 1:10 is the first section, the remaining footage is of a different day)....... The footage (in both cases) shows 2nd Circular Road in the Cantonments district of Accra. The intersection at the traffic lights is with Giffard Road, which the taxi travels onwards. North of the intersection the road is named Airport By-pass Road, and as the vehicle travels, there is a white brick wall which is part of the airport property, and in the later stages of the clip, I try to focus in on the buildings of Kotoka International Airport. Along this stretch of road, there is a lot of construction occuring - in 2007, when this footage was filmed, the office complex "Una Home" was completed and can be seen, but most of the other buildings in the area (which are now completed) were under construction. It is in this area that Accra's second major shopping mall has been constructed, as is the new Holiday Inn. This stretch of road is busy at the time this is taken, towards peak hour traffic, but it is often seen as an alternative to Liberation Road, which it runs parallel to before meeting just south of Tetteh Quarshie Circle. A day out, on a four wheeler, driving along Delhi's arterial road- the Inner Ring Road. The road is wide and maintained, with fabulous, lush green surroundings, which makes driving a lively experience!!! However, a major eyesore is reckless driving by the people, who seem the least bothered about lane driving. Excessive honking can as a result be heard. Unfortunately, the video has many shakes and the sound of the zoom button is clearly audible. While the latter could not have been avoided, I apologise for the former. While recording, I was focussing on the subjects of the video instead of the camera screen. Hence the shakes and instability! The race is the 13 steepest hills in Pittsburgh . My friend Steevo has won it 8 years in a row including today. Here is a good article on it from 2005.

The Roofs are leaking. The floor is cracked. The walls are threatening to come apart. In the earthquake prone region of Mussorrie, red tape and slow moving legalities are putting lives and homes of thousands at risk. Region:- Mussoorie Cantonment (aka Landour) in District Dehradun, Uttarakhand is one of India's 63 cantonments. It was established in the 19th century as a colonial era military camp. Post-independence the area was declared a 'cantonment'. The administration of the region does not fall under the Mussoorie Municipality. Instead a Cantonment Board has been set-up. The Issue:- Over a 100 families living in the erstwhile labor quarters now live dangerously. Under Cantonment laws, people require a No Objection Certificate from the Cantonment Board to carry out even minor repairs and modifications. But as Community Correspondent Lakshmi Nautiyal reports from the ground, the Board is an apathetic, corrupt government body. The people's pleas have been ignored for over 90 years. Aiding this complacency is the fact the current Cantonment Board laws are colonial relics of the worst kind -- out-of-date, anti-people and utterly lacking in practicality.
