HD Hero Niagara River Underwater
i filmed this video with a HD hero with the Eye of mine corrective flat lens. I had the little camera riding shotgun on my sony HD unit, and thought it did a nice job. If you watch carefully, you will see walleye, perch, a steelhead, bass, muskie, a mudpuppy, emerald shiners and spot tail shiners, and gobies

48" Niagara River Musky bites man and is released. Man needs 9 stitches.
Musky fishing can be dangerous. Remember to always wear a glove when handling these fish! I got on the water at 6:20am and on my first drift hooked and landed (by myself) the biggest musky I've ever caught (48"). With muskies they die so easily you can't take them out of the water for a long time. So musky fishermen have really big nets where you can tie it to the side of the boat and leave the musky in the water swimming around in the giant "live well" net while you get your camera ready for a pic. I had this one in the net, got my camera ready for a picture and stuck my hand in the water by her head to grab under her gill plate when the fish turned opened her mouth and slashed my hand wide open. As I was bleeding, looking at the muscle in my hand, I knew I had to go to the ER but wanted a pic badly. So I hockey taped up my hand, took her out of the water, took a pic then released the fish. I then had to load my boat back up by myself, get to the ER and get 9 stitches! I was off the water in 30 minutes. Still, I think it was worth the trouble. I should have been wearing my protective glove! Video of the release, stitches and fish is in this clip.

Man Survives 180-Foot Plunge Over Niagara Falls "Video" 5/21/2012
NIAGARA FALLS — A man survived a plunge of at least 180 feet over Niagara Falls in an apparent suicide attempt Monday — only the third person known to have lived after going over the falls without a safety device. Police said witnesses reported seeing the man climb over a railing 20 to 30 feet out over Horseshoe Falls at 10:20 am and "deliberately jump" into the Niagara River. Seriously injured, he surfaced in the lower Niagara River basin near the Journey Behind the Falls observation platform and made it to shore on his own. "He waded ashore," said Platoon Chief Dan Orescanin of the Niagara Falls, Ontario, Fire Department. "He must have gotten swept into an eddy, floated over there and was able to get out on his own. That's another stroke of luck. If he was in the main current, he would have been swept down river." The man, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, was rescued about two hours later after fire department rescuers rappelled down the steep and rocky gorge, put him in a basket and pulled him up the cliff.

Battle of Queenston Heights Re-Enactment 2012
www.naturallyinniagara.ca The Battle of Queenston Heights was the first major battle in the War of 1812 and resulted in a British victory. It took place on 13 October 1812, near Queenston, in the present-day province of Ontario. It was fought between United States regulars and New York militia forces led by Major General Stephen Van Rensselaer, and British forces, Canadian militia and Mohawks led by Major General Isaac Brock, and Major General Roger Sheaffe, who took command when Brock was killed. The battle was fought as the result of an American attempt to establish a foothold on the Canadian side of the Niagara River before campaigning ended with the onset of winter. This decisive battle was the result of a poorly managed American campaign, and may be most historically significant for the loss of the British commander. Despite their numerical advantage and the wide dispersal of British forces against an invasion attempt, the Americans, who were stationed in Lewiston, New York, were unable to get the bulk of their invasion force across the Niagara River due to the work of British artillery and reluctance on the part of the undertrained and inexperienced American militia. As a result, British reinforcements were able to arrive and force those Americans on the Canadian side to surrender. Make sure to like, favourite and share!
