• Cartier Field
  Cartier Field is a stadium in Notre Dame, Indiana. It hosted the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team until they moved to Notre Dame Stadium in 1930. The stadium held 30,000 people at its peak and was opened in 1889.
  Today, the field serves as one of several practice fields for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, along with Meyo Field in the indoor Loftus Center.

  Cartier Island
  Cartier Island is an uninhabited and unvegetated sand cay in a platform reef in the Timor Sea north of Australia and south of Indonesia. It is located at 12°31'S 123°33'E, on the edge of the Sahul Shelf, about 300 kilometres off the north west coast of Western Australia, 200 kilometres south of the Indonesian island of Roti, and 70 kilometres south-east of Ashmore Reef. It is within the Territory of Ashmore and Cartier Islands, an external territory of Australia.
  The area within 4 nautical miles (7 km) of the centre of the reef is protected as the Cartier Island Marine Reserve. At the southern edge of the reef is a shipwreck of the Ann Millicent, an iron-hulled barge of 944 tons wrecked in 1888. The remains of an RAAF Beaufighter can also be seen at low tide. Formerly used as a bombing range, access to the island is prohibited because of the risk of unexploded ordnances. The area is still a gazetted Defence Practice Area, but is no longer in active use.
  Cartier Island is completely unvegetated except for the seagrass Thallassia hemprichii, which grows in pockets of sand within the reef, and may be exposed at low tide.

  Jacques Cartier
  Jacques Cartier (December 31, 1491 – September 1, 1557) was a French explorer of Breton origin who claimed what is now Canada for France. He was the first European to describe and map the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the shores of the Saint Lawrence River, which he named "The Country of Canadas", after the Iroquois names for the two big settlements he saw at Stadacona (Quebec City) and at Hochelaga (Montreal Island).
  Jacques Cartier was born in 1491 in Saint-Malo, the port on the extreme north-east coast of Brittany. Cartier, who was a respectable mariner, improved his social status in 1520 by marrying Mary Catherine des Granches, member of a leading family. His good name in Saint-Malo is recognized by its frequent appearance in baptismal registers as godfather or witness.
  In 1534, the year the Duchy of Brittany was formally united with France in the Edict of Union, Cartier was introduced to King Francis I by Jean le Veneur, bishop of Saint-Malo and abbot of Mont-Saint-Michel, at the Manoir de Brion. The king had previously invited (although not formally commissioned) the Florentine explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano to explore the eastern coast of North America on behalf of France in 1524. Le Veneur cited voyages to Newfoundland and Brazil as proof of Cartier's ability to "lead ships to the discovery of new lands in the New World".

  Albert Cartier
  Albert Cartier, born November 22, 1960, in Vagney, Vosges, is a former football player and manager.
  He was fired from FC Brussels on January 2008 for bad results and did not reach a new agreement with RAEC Mons. On 12 January 2010 the French coach has left Panthrakikos, a replacement has not been picked yet. Cartier is the new coach of K.A.S.   Cartier Martin
  Cartier Alexander Martin (born November 20, 1984) is an American professional basketball player.
  He spent his college career at Kansas State University and is one of the top all-time scoring leaders at the school. His first three seasons he was coached by Jim Wooldridge and his senior year he was coached by Bob Huggins.
  After his senior season, he entered the 2007 NBA Draft but went undrafted. In his first professional year, he went overseas to play for the Turkish Basketball League's Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi. After one season in Europe, he was selected in the first round (15th pick overall) of the 2008 NBA Development League Draft by the Iowa Energy.
  On January 29, 2009, he was signed to a 10-day contract by the Charlotte Bobcats, having averaged 20.6 points per game in 21 games with the Iowa Energy. He was named to the 2009 D-League All-Star Game, although he did not compete owing to his status with the Bobcats.
  He was signed by the Bobcats to a second 10-day contract on February 8, and then signed for the rest of the season on February 18, 2009.

  Edward Daniel Cartier (1914 – December 25, 2008), known professionally as Edd Cartier, was an American pulp magazine illustrator who specialized in science fiction and fantasy art.
  Born in North Bergen, New Jersey, Cartier studied at Pratt Institute. Following his 1936 graduation from Pratt, his artwork was published in Street and Smith publications, including The Shadow, to which he contributed many interior illustrations, and the John W. Campbell, Jr.-edited magazines Astounding Science Fiction, Doc Savage Magazine and Unknown. His work later appeared in other magazines, including Planet Stories, Fantastic Adventures and other pulps.
  Cartier served in World War II, and he was severely wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He returned to the United States and attended the Pratt Institute again on the G.I. Bill, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1953. In the post-war years, he continued providing illustrations for Astounding and also for Gnome Press and Fantasy Press.
  However, low pay for such illustrations led Cartier into employment as a draftsman for an engineering firm during the 1950s. He worked for more than 25 years as an art director with Mosstype, a Waldwick, New Jersey, manufacturer specializing in printing machinery.

• George Cartier
  George Robinson Cartier (May 26, 1869 in Ludington, Michigan – October 20, 1944 in Tacoma, Washington) was an American football player and lumber baron in the Pacific northwest.
  George Cartier holds the distinction of being the quarterback for the very first game in the history of the Notre Dame football program—a 0-8 loss to Michigan on November 23, 1887. George was the younger brother of philanthropist Warren A. Cartier, for whom the university's Cartier Field is named.
  After graduating from Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, Cartier relocated to South Bend, Washington, where he became co-founder and manager of the South Bend Mills & Timber Company, and would be elected mayor of the city in 1910. In 1919, he built the Copper Creek Lodge near Mount Rainier in Ashford, Washington, and lived there with his wife and daughter until 1931.

• John Cartier
  John Cartier (1733 – January 25, 1802) was a British colonial governor in India. He served as Governor of Bengal from 1769 to 1772.
  Cartier first arrived in India as a writer in the service of the British East India Company. He was expelled from Dacca in 1756 while serving there as an assistant. After fleeing with other fugitives to Fulta, he joined Clive of India and helped in the retaking of Bengal, for which he was praised by the Court of Directors of the British East India Company. Cartier's career accelerated after the Battle of Plassey. In 1761 Cartier became chief of the Dacca factory. By 1767 he was Second in the Calcutta Council.
  On December 26, 1769 Cartier succeeded Harry Verelst as Governor of Bengal. Cartier was governor at time of the Bengal famine of 1770, during which one-third of the populace died. Cartier was blamed for ignoring warnings about the impending disaster but was able to use a magazine of grain to feed fifteen thousand people every day for some months. In response to the crisis, the Court of Directors sent a three-person commission to Bengal to assess the situation. En route, however, the ship carrying the three members foundered at sea. The Court of Directors did not send a replacement and recalled Cartier.Warren Hastings was selected as his replacement; he took office on April 13, 1772.

• Louis Cartier
  Louis Cartier (1875–1942) was a famous French watchmaker and businessman known worldwide for elegant and extravagant watch designs. He was passionate about mechanical pocket watches and had the goal of creating his own line of timepieces. Although Patek Phillipe created the first wristwatch in 1868, Louis Cartier is responsible for helping to popularize it over the traditional pocket watch.
  In 1904, his Brazilian friend Alberto Santos-Dumont, an early aviation pioneer, asked Louis Cartier to design a watch that could be used during his flights, since pocket watches were not suitable. Louis Cartier created for him the Santos wristwatch, which was also the first wristwatch made for men.Santos first went on sale in 1911, the date of Cartier's first production of wristwatches. In Rue de la Paix he designed timepieces with the help of Edmond Jaeger who agreed to supply Cartier's watch line with movements.
  The most important steps in Cartier's family business were made over several generations by the goldsmith Louis Francois Cartier, his son Alfred Cartier, and his three grandsons, Pierre, Jacque and Louis Francois. While his father Alfred managed the production of jewelry, Louis Francois and his two brothers, Pierre and Jacques, were the ones to help the family business expand. They eventually turned the Cartier brand into the most well-known name in the world of jewelry and watchmaking. In 1899 the Cartier family moved their Paris store to the elegant Rue de la Paix; later stores in London (1902), Moscow (1908) and New York (1909) followed.

• Rudolph Cartier
  Rudolph Cartier (born Rudolph Kacser, renamed himself in Germany to Rudolph Katscher; 17 April 1904 – 7 June 1994) was an Austrian television director, filmmaker, screenwriter and producer who worked predominantly in British television, exclusively for the BBC. He is best known for his 1950s collaborations with screenwriter Nigel Kneale, most notably the Quatermass serials and their 1954 adaptation of George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.
  After studying architecture and then drama, Cartier began his career as a screenwriter and then film director in Berlin, working for UFA Studios. After a brief spell in the United States he moved to the United Kingdom in the 1930s, and began working for BBC Television in 1952. He went on to produce and direct over 120 productions in the next 24 years, ending his television career with the play Loyalties in 1976.
  Active in both dramatic programming and opera, Cartier won the equivalent of a BAFTA in 1957 for his work in the former, and one of his operatic productions was given an award at the 1962 Salzburg Festival. The British Film Institute's "Screenonline" website describes him as "a true pioneer of television", while the critic Peter Black once wrote that: "Nobody was within a mile of Rudolph Cartier in the trick of making a picture on a TV screen seem as wide and as deep as CinemaScope."

• Walter Cartier
  Walter Cartier (March 29, 1922 – August 16, 1995) was a professional boxer turned actor, originally from the Bronx in New York City, New York.
  He became a professional boxer after World War II. Film director Stanley Kubrick's first film, Day of the Fight (1951), featured Cartier and his twin brother, Vincent. After this, Walter Cartier tried his hand at acting in other films such as Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956) and television.
  Today, he is best known for his role in the classic United States sitcom The Phil Silvers Show, appearing as the mild-mannered Private Claude Dillingham. One memorable episode was written around Cartier and his boxing skills.
  His ancestry was Irish, his grandfather having changed the family name from McCarthy to Cartier.
