Glaciers and their effects
GLACIERS AND THEIR EFFECTS:-The vital contribution that glaciers have made to the formation of the surface of the Earth is detailed in this video. In particular, the various glacial processes associated with the periods of the Earth's history known as the Ice Ages are explained, as is the effect climate plays on the creation, spread, and decline of the glacier. The video also attempts to discover the physical clues that could point to the onset of another Ice Age.

Yosemite Nature Notes - 12 - Glaciers
Yosemite National Park is famous for its spectacular glacially carved landscape. Although glaciers have come and gone many times in the past, there are still two active glaciers near Yosemite's highest peaks.

BBC natural history show Wild New World re-creates the world as it would have appeared thousands of years ago. In this clip, great sheets of ice are re-created with CGI to help demonstrate the enormous impact ice would have had on the changing climate of the world.

The height of the ice is about 3000 feet, 300-400 feet above water and the rest below water. Chasing Ice won the award for Excellence in Cinematography at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and the Best Documentary from the International Press Association. Science Bulletins: Shrinking Glaciers—A Chronology of Climate Change
Analysis of Earth's geologic record can reveal how the climate has changed over time. Scientists in New Zealand are examining samples from the rocky landscape once dominated by glaciers. They are employing a new technique called surface exposure dating, which uses chemical analysis to determine how long minerals within rocks have been exposed to the air since the glaciers around them melted. Comparisons of this data with other climate records have revealed a link between glacial retreat and rising levels of carbon dioxide in the air, findings that are informing scientists' understanding of global climate change today. Iceberg tsunami gone wild!
A tourist from Australia came to my uncle and asked if she could get a ride to the glacier just north of Ilulissat, Greenland, so he asked me if I wanted to be his translator. I am from another town where glaciers are fairytales, I was as much of a tourist as the Australian tourist, so I decided to join the crew. The beautiful scenery was amazing, but the nature doesn't care about anyone. That day almost became our last day. Copyrights owned by me, Jens Møller.

Glacier Surfing Alaska
World champion big wave surfers, Garrett McNamara and Kealii Mamala rode into surfing history last week when they towed into a monster tsunami created by Child's Glacier in South-Central Alaska. The creator/producer, Ryan Casey, "disovered" the wave in 1995, while on location shooting in Alaska. Then after finishing his last film, Quest, a documentary on big wave surfing, he showed Garrett the wave... that was six months ago. So after a short scout in June, we went up in August to film this... For more information contact: info@deepwaterfilms or Ryan @ ryanmayrcasey@hotmail.com

Shutter Ísland
This is the first project in a series of hopefully many more released by Team Nine. Set in Switzerland and Iceland, Shutter Ísland tells the story of Iwan and Raphael meeting up for a fifteen day journey exploring the island in the North Atlantic. We knew that Iceland is also referred to as photographer's paradise so we packed some camera equipment and a plan for a video project. The idea was to capture the sceneries that we came across while driving and hiking, and to bring them home as a souvenir. Good memories.
Yours truly, Team Nine (www.teamnine.ch)

A joint collaboration with rock / ambient / experimental band MONO (www.monoishere.com), Legend takes you on an epic 12 minute visual and aural journey through Iceland's breathtaking landscapes during the time of the midnight sun.
The film travels across Iceland, from the floating blue icebergs of Jokulsarlon's glacial lagoon to the steaming geothermic vents of Myvatn, the colorful mountains of Landmannalaugar to the breathtaking sunsets on Snaefellnes Peninsula, and the barren volcanic landscapes of Askja to the vast fields of lupin near Husavik.
Legend was shot over a 2 week period in June 2012 when the sun barely sets below the horizon and you never see darkness. It was filmed completely in 5K resolution using Canon full frame DSLRs on motion timelapse equipment from Kessler Crane.
Mono's score of the same name, Legend, is from their upcoming album "For my parents". Its edgy cinematic and epic quality helps describe Iceland - a breathtakingly beautiful yet unforgivingly dangerous place.
The album is available for pre-order: http://www.monoishere.com/2012/07/30/pre-order-for-my-parents-now/
We would like to thank the following supporters for making this film possible:

Special thanks to Egill Agustsson and Adalsteinn Petur Karlsson of Husavik for their help with my car problems on Iceland National Day. It's the country's biggest holiday and they helped me get back on the road so I could continue filming.
Last but not least, a big thank you to fellow filmmaker Joe Capra (www.scientifantastic.com) for his guidance and inspiration. His tips and advice were invaluable in helping me prepare for this trip.

Winter in Hell
This is a 8 minutes short film, not a quick youtube video, please be patient or watch it later.
I shot this film over the course of a year. It then took me few months to edit and color grade it.
Synopsis:
Winter 2010, the stunning landscape of Iceland succumbs to the Arctic cold. Beaches and lakes get frozen, but something unexpected is going to happen... the earth shakes, warms up, and suddenly a big crack opens up at the top of the glacier Eyjafjallajokull. Lava, smoke, ash and fire come up from the depth of the earth, melting everything in its path.
Shot with the Canon 7D and 5D MarkII using Canon & Carl Zeiss lenses.
Special thanks to Die! Goldstein for the music. www.die-goldstein.com
