The key speakers at a plenary session on Saturday were Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, US Vice President Joe Biden, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, and NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Biden reiterated the US position that President Assad "is no longer fit to lead the Syrian people", and "must go." However, the Russian foreign minister stressed in his speech that "any threat of the use of force will be unacceptable." "The persistence of those who say that priority number one is the removal of President Assad, I think it's the single biggest reason for the continued tragedy in Syria", Lavrov added. Responding to international concerns over Syria's chemical weapons, Lavrov said: "We have very sustainable information, we are confident that as long as the government keeps control of those weapons, the situation is safe". Multiple dashboard videos appeared online, showing huge fireballs flying over buildings and exploding with a strong blast. A local zinc factory was the worst-hit, with some of its walls collapsed.
