Lowkey - Cradle of Civilisation ft. Mai Khalil (with lyrics on screen and in description) Introduction: I remember when I was growing up, if my mother got angry or frustrated with me, she'd say 'oy shked helwa el horiya' and the basic translation of that is 'oh, how beautiful is freedom', but where is freedom? Chorus: Oyshked helwa el horiya Oy shked helwa el horiya Oy shked helwa el horiya Close my eyes; I can still hear my amee saying Oy shked helwa el horiya Oy shked helwa el horiya Oy shked helwa el horiya But where is our freedom? Verse 1: This is for Baghdad, the place of my mother's birth The cradle of civilisation, for what it's worth The land I've never seen, culture I've never known Iraq is in my heart, my blood, my flesh and bones The air I've never breathed, fragrance I've never smelt, Pride I've never had, the nationality that I've never felt Saddam was bad, are the Americans even more so? They made me grow like I was missin' part of my torso But I never picked up a grenade in my garden I never saw people I love die starvin' I never saw my family die through many years of sanctions While the ruler's family lived in palaces and mansions I never had a family member kidnapped for a ransom And never lost a friend to violence that was random Bombings, occupation, torture, intimidation A million dead people doesn't equal liberation Chorus: Oy shked helwa el horiya Oy shked helwa el horiya Oy shked helwa el horiya Close my eyes; I can still hear my amee saying Oy ...

Armenia: The Cradle of Civilization
The recent sensational discoveries by a team from the German Archaeological Institute [the first findings were made in 1994 and are still ongoing], led by field director Dr. Klaus Schmidt and Harald Hauptmann -- at Göbekli Tepe [lit. navel Mountain, highly probable that this is the primordial name of the place, and navel is associated with the Navel of the Earth [Port in Armenian, connected with port[al] in Greek Omphalos, the Delphi [oracle] in antiquity was called the Navel of the Earth. Generally, the omphalos, or navel-boss, was the emblem of the AYA -- The Mother Goddess. Our ancient ancestors considered a woman's navel the seat of her sexual passion, throughout Siwnik there are still remnants of phallic/mountain shaped portak‛arer literary navel stones that according to ancient traditions would be visited by barren women who would genuflect on the sacred stones in the hope of divine impregnation -- so we return to the name of Navel [feminine] Mountain [masculine]..., 15 km northeast of the city of Sanliurfa, near historic Urfa or Urha [Edessa], the point o origin of the Armenian Solar cult of Orion that later spread to other parts of the globe, has been a truly revolutionary archaeological discovery. The cult site consists of circular stone formations that look similar to those in Stonehenge, only that Stonehenge is about 6000 years younger. www.armenianhighland.com

The Cradle of Civilization
Syria was one of the most ancient on earth. Around the excavated city of Ebla in northern Syria, a great Semitic empire spread from the Red Sea north to Turkey and east to Mesopotamia from 2500 to 2400 BC Ebla appears to have been founded around 3000 BC and gradually built its empire through trade with the cities of Sumer and Akkad, as well as with peoples to the northwest. Gifts from Pharaoh found during excavations confirm Ebla's contact with Egypt. Scholars believe the language of Ebla to be among the oldest known written Semitic languages. The Eblan civilization was likely conquered by Sargon of Akkad around 2260 BC; the city was restored as the nation of the Amorites a few centuries later and flourished through the early second millennium BC until conquered by the Hittites. During the second millennium BC, Syria was occupied successively by Canaanites, Phoenicians, and Arameans as part of the general disruptions associated with the Sea Peoples. The Hebrews eventually settled south of Damascus, in the areas later known as Palestine; the Phoenicians settled along the coastline of these areas as well as in the west, in the area (Lebanon) already known for its cedars. Egyptians, Sumerians, Assyrians, Babylonians, and Hittites variously occupied the strategic ground of Syria during this period, as it was a marchland between their various empires. Eventually the Persians took control of Syria as part of their general control of Southwest Asia; this control transferred to ...

Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track #7 from the Vague Rhetoric album (Summer of 2010) Lyrics: Imagine a time machine time capable of.. Taking you back to the days of the flood Biblical kings with impressive castles Riding around on protected camels, lighting the room with expensive candles Sending the servants on a search through the caves and dens Looking for ancient gems, anybody over the age of ten.. ..Got no choice but to dig for riches While the kings n princes, feast in the gardens on terrific dishes Now picture yourself thrown in the mix Walking the busy streets, smell the aroma of figs You see the armour plated soldiers like a Roman eclipse And hear the sound of crying goats getting thrown on a ship Its incredible...fascinating is such an understatement Seeing the growth and development of the youngest nations From the elite Egyptians, up to the Greek Olympians Before the Disciples of Christ had received religion Back in the days of Babylonian mathematics.. Picture the academics all tryna map the planets Ancient Egyptians were the masters of astronomy The Greek poets had you captured with philosophy Imagine witnessing the seven ancient wonders Standing by the Colossus of Rhodes looking straight humungous Bringing tears to your eye like a plate of onions Cuz the emotion is insane like escaping dungeons And ...
