Okhotsk
Okhotsk (Russian: Охотск; IPA: [ɐˈxotsk]) is an urban locality (a work settlement) and the administrative center of Okhotsky District of Khabarovsk Krai, Russia, located at the mouth of the Okhota River on the Sea of Okhotsk. Population: 4,215 (2010 Census); 5,738 (2002 Census); 9,298 (1989 Census).
History
It was the main Russian base on the Pacific coast from about 1650 to 1860, but lost its importance after the Amur Acquisition in 1860. It is located at the east end of the Siberian River Routes on the Sea of Okhotsk where the Okhota and the Kukhtuy Rivers join to form a poor but usable harbor.
In 1639 the Russians first reached the Pacific 65 miles southeast at the mouth of the Ulya River. In 1647 Semyon Shelkovnikov built winter quarters at Okhotsk. In 1649 a fort was built (Kosoy Ostrozhok). In 1653 Okhotsk was burned by the local Lamuts. Although the Russian pioneers were skilled builders of river boats they lacked the knowledge and equipment to build seagoing vessels which meant that Okhotsk remained a coastal settlement and not a port. In 1682 Okhotsk had eight dwellings and five other buildings. When the Russians entered the Kamchatka Peninsula they had to travel overland from the north.

Sea of Okhotsk
The Sea of Okhotsk (Russian: Охо́тское мо́ре, tr. Okhotskoye More; IPA: [ɐˈxotskəɪ ˈmorʲɪ]; Japanese: オホーツク海 Ohōtsuku-kai) is a marginal sea of the western Pacific Ocean, lying between the Kamchatka Peninsula on the east, the Kuril Islands on the southeast, the island of Hokkaido to the south, the island of Sakhalin along the west, and a long stretch of eastern Siberian coast (including the Shantar Islands) along the west and north. The northeast corner is the Shelikhov Gulf. The sea is named after Okhotsk, the first Russian settlement in the Far East.
Geography
The Sea of Okhotsk covers an area of 1,583,000 square kilometres (611,000 sq mi), with a mean depth of 859 metres (2,818 ft) and a maximum depth of 3,372 metres (11,063 ft). It is connected to the Sea of Japan on either side of Sakhalin: on the west through the Sakhalin Gulf and the Gulf of Tartary; on the south, through the La Pérouse Strait.
In winter, navigation on the Sea of Okhotsk becomes difficult, or even impossible, due to the formation of large ice floes, because the large amount of freshwater from the Amur River lowers the salinity which results in raising the freezing point of the sea. The distribution and thickness of ice floes depends on many factors: the location, the time of year, water currents, and the sea temperatures.

Infinite Challenge
Infinite Challenge (a.k.a. Muhan Dojeon; Hangul: 무한도전; hanja: 無限挑戰; abbreviated as 무도 Mudo) is a Korean television entertainment program, distributed and syndicated by MBC. As of January 2013, it still has the largest market share for its timeslot; roughly between 13 to 17 percent of Korean television viewers watch Infinite Challenge at 6:30 PM every Saturday night. This makes it the top free-to-air television program on Saturday evening, and it's also the most viewed non-drama program in South Korea every week (excluding special sporting events, since November 2006, with the exception of January 2009, April and May 2010). It has kept the same scheduled time, since first airing in 2005. Since 2009, it lasts for roughly 75 minutes, excluding ten minutes of advertising. Episodes are also frequently rerun on several Korean cable broadcasting channels. Since February 19, 2011 (episode 237), the program has been aired in high-definition.Infinite Challenge have been called the nation's variety and Korea's real first variety for having been successful for over ten years.

Russia: Expedition proves possibility of river travel between Pacific and Arctic Oceans
Participants of the 'Pole of Cold Connects the Oceans' project organised by the Russian Geographical Society arrived in Russkoye Ustye on August 5, as shown by footage released on Thursday. Their epic river expedition empirically proved the existence of an internal waterway between the Pacific and Arctic Oceans. The expedition, headed by Nikolai Nakhodkin, started from Okhotsk in the Khabarovsk Territory in July. It comprised 16 members who rafted on inflatable boats along waterways that run between the Pacific Ocean and the Arctic. In total, the scientists and crew members covered about 2,800 kilometres (1,739 miles), finishing the route in the little village of Ustye, near the Arctic coast. Mount Fuji (富士山, Fujisan) is with 3776 meters Japan's highest mountain. It is not surprising that the nearly perfectly shaped volcano has been worshiped as a sacred mountain and experienced big popularity among artists and common people throughout the centuries.
Mount Fuji is an active volcano, which most recently erupted in 1708. It stands on the border between Yamanashi and Shizuoka Prefectures and can be seen from Tokyo and Yokohama on clear days.
Another easy way to view Mount Fuji is from the train on a trip between Tokyo and Osaka. If you take the shinkansen from Tokyo in direction of Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka, the best view of the mountain can be enjoyed from around Shin-Fuji Station on the right hand side of the train, about 40-45 minutes into the journey.
Note however, that clouds and poor visibility often block the view of Mount Fuji, and you have to consider yourself lucky if you get a clear view of the mountain. Visibility tends to be better during the colder seasons of the year than in summer, and in the early morning and late evening hours than during the middle of the day.
If you want to enjoy Mount Fuji at a more leisurely pace and from a nice natural surrounding, you should head to the Fuji Five Lake (Fujigoko) region at the northern foot of the mountain, or to Hakone, a nearby hot spring resort. Participants of the 'Pole of Cold Connects the Oceans' project organised by the Russian Geographical Society arrived in Russkoye Ustye on August 5, as shown by footage released on Thursday. Their epic river expedition empirically proved the existence of an internal waterway between the Pacific and Arctic Oceans.
The expedition, headed by Nikolai Nakhodkin, started from Okhotsk in the Khabarovsk Territory in July. It comprised 16 members who rafted on inflatable boats along waterways that run between the Pacific Ocean and the Arctic. In total, the scientists and crew members covered about 2,800 kilometres (1,739 miles), finishing the route in the little village of Ustye, near the Arctic coast. Nakhodkin said “we have reached the Arctic Ocean coast. We were first to discover a river way from the Pacific Ocean to the Arctic.”
Before that only local people used such routes and there was no scientific proof of the possibility of travelling by water between the two oceans.
During the expedition, different scientific tests were conducted including archaeological research on the site of Zashiversk, an abandoned 19th century city. Scientists also installed a special device at the point of bifurcation of the Delkyu River to measure the temperature at one metre below zero depth to help record events related to climate change in Yakutia.
SOT, Nikolai Nakhodkin, head of the expedition (Russian): "The road was very difficult. In the upper reaches, the river is very tortuous. In the most upper reaches, it sometimes goes under stones and there is a very small runlet left and it spreads on ice-slicks."
