Hey guys, this is the 8th part of my exchange diary! :) I'm talking about the cultural differences between Germany and Australia, and what was funny or weird to me when I came here. The video is not meant to be offensive, I love the Australian culture! And kinda feel more Aussie than German at the moment.. Flying back to Germany in 5 days though, I hate it! Culture as Commodity has exhibited in the 2011 Venice Biennale, Bring Your Own Beamer, Internet Pavilion, San Servolo Island, Italy, the 2011 Carnegie Museum of Art 2-Minute Film Festival in conjunction with The Pittsburgh Biennial, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, and the 2012 Paint The Town Red Film Festival, Birmingham, Alabama, US. Culture as Commodity, is a 2 minute animation displaying the imagery iconic objects of contemporary Americana. The work is created through questions retaining to the authenticity of culture(s). Culture as Commodity focuses on topics such as the culture industry, the seduction of commerce, and the origins of culture while exploring the themes of artificiality, superficiality, and authenticity, natural vs. produced culture, and objectification and commoditization. Culture as Commodity investigates the referential properties and cultural implications of objects.
