Plastic surgeon V. Jayaraman, who treated her till the end said she had responded to treatment even on Monday. "We did our best, but she had a cardiac arrest. We tried to revive her twice," he added.
Vinodhini, the 23-year-old victim of an acid attack on November 14 last year, died at a private hospital here around 9.10 a.m. on Tuesday.
A youth, who had professed love for J. Vinodhini, a B. Tech graduate, accosted her on the way to the bus terminus in Karaikal, and threw nitric acid at her. Vinodhini who was accompanied by her father, Jayapal, a watchman in a private school in Karaikal, sustained serious injuries on her face, stomach, arms and shoulder. She was rushed to a private hospital and later to JIPMER in Puducherry for treatment. The next day she was referred to Government Kilpauk Hospital in Chennai for further treatment.
After several surgeries over a month's time, she was shifted to a private hospital in Kilpauk for specialised treatment.
With resources running out, her family took her to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital last month. But within two days she was again moved to the private hospital.
Plastic surgeon V. Jayaraman, who treated her till the end said she had been responding to treatment even on Monday.
"We did our best, but she had a cardiac arrest. We tried to revive her twice," he added.
Her uncle Ramesh was inconsolabe. "We tried so hard to ensure treatment but she is gone," he said.
A request has been sent to the Karaikal police to come to Chennai and complete the formalities. The post-mortem is expected to be conducted at the KMC. The body will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem.

Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India
This is a travel video of the spectacular Agra Fort located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It offered amazing views of many parts of Agra including the Taj Mahal.
http://nomadicsamuel.com : Agra Fort, is a monument, (Hindi: आगरा का किला, Urdu: آگرہ قلعہ) a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city. After the First Battle of Panipat, in 1526 Mughals captured the fort and a vast treasure - which included a diamond later known as the Koh-i-Noor diamond - was seized. Babur stayed in the fort in the palace of Ibrahim and built a baoli (step well) in it. The emperorHumayun was crowned here in 1530. He was defeated in Bilgram in 1540. Sher Shah and his descendants held the fort for fifteen years. In 1555, Humanyun recaptured it for some time when the Hindu king 'Hem Chandra Vikramaditya' defeated his army and captured the fort. Akbar defeated the Hindu King Hem chanda finally at the Second Battle of Panipat in 1556: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agra_Fort
Agra ; Hindi: आगरा, Urdu: آگرہ), the former capital of Hindustan[citation needed], is a city on the banks of the river Yamuna in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India, 363 kilometres (226 mi) west of state capital, Lucknow and 200 kilometres (124 mi) south of the national capital New Delhi. With a population of 1,686,976 (2010 est.), it is one of the most populous cities in Uttar Pradesh and the 19th most populous in India.[1] Because 80 percent of the city's sewage flows into Yamuna River, it is 20th most polluted city in India.[2] Agra can also refer to the administrative district that has its headquarters in Agra city.
The city finds mention in the epic Mahābhārata where it was called Agrevaṇa, or 'the border of the forest'.[3] Legend ascribes the founding of the city to Raja Badal Singh, a Sikarwar Rajput king (circa 1475), whose fort, Badalgarh, stood on or near the site of the present Fort. However, the 11th century Persian poet Mas'ūd Sa'd Salmān writes of a desperate assault on the fortress of Agra, then held by the Shāhī King Jayapala, by Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni.[4] Sultan Sikandar Lodī was the first to move his capital from Delhi to Agra in the year 1506; he died in 1517 and his son Ibrāhīm Lodī remained in power there for nine more years, finally being defeated at the Battle of Panipat in 1526.[5] Between 1540 to 1556, Afghans beginning with Sher Shah Suri to Hindu King Hem Chandra Vikramaditya, also called Hemu, ruled the area. It achieved fame as the capital of the Mughal emperors from 1556 to 1658. Later in 18th century it came under Jat rule. It is a major tourist destination because of its many splendid Mughal-era buildings, most notably the Tāj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpūr Sikrī, all three of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agra
