TDRS-K launch on Atlas V from LC-41 Cape Canaveral Air Force Station
A spectacular launch! I was busy taking photos with my camera, but snapped this video on my iPhone. I love the reflection in the lake. When the rocket was heading out to the east we could see it for miles and miles, it was very cool! You can hear me start my camera at T-2 seconds and someone standing next to me using a windup point and shoot film camera... ironically after saying she was following updates on Twitter and loved new technology.

Tour of Range Operations Control Center (ROCC) at Cape Canaveral, Air Force Week 2010
Members of the US Air Force 45th Space Wing at Cape Canaveral Air Force STation and Patrick Air Force Base take us on a tour of the Morrell Operations Center(aka Range Operations Control Center, "The ROCC") on media day during Air Force Week 2010, hosted by Patrick AFB. The ROCC is the nerve center for launch, security, weather and range operations at Cape Canaveral. Here they monitor everything from boats that might stray into the area downrange to the weather on launch day. During the tour, personnel were on the control rooms doing exercises relating to the upcoming launch of Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-133. Col. Lee Rosen is the commanding officer of the 45th Launch Group which has overall responsibility for rocket launches that take place from Cape Canaveral and the Eastern Range.

Located on Cape Canaveral in the state of Florida, CCAFS is the primary launch head of America's Eastern Range with four launch pads currently active. The facility is south-southeast of NASA's Kennedy Space Center on adjacent Merritt Island, with the two linked by bridges and causeways. The Cape Canaveral AFS Skid Strip provides a 10000-foot (3000 m) runway close to the launch complexes for military airlift aircraft delivering heavy and outsized payloads to the Cape. Several ...

"Kennedy Space Center" "Cape Canaveral" "Merritt Island" Florida, USA
These Pictures were taken over something like 8 visits to the center, Over the last 30 years. The John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is the United States launch site that has been used for every NASA human space flight since 1968. Although such flights are currently on hiatus, KSC continues to manage and operate unmanned rocket launch facilities for the US government's civilian space program from three pads at the adjoining Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Its Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) is the fourth-largest structure in the world by volume and was the largest when completed in 1965. Located on Merritt Island, Florida, the center is north-northwest of Cape Canaveral on the Atlantic Ocean, midway between Miami and Jacksonville on Florida's Space Coast. It is 34 miles (55 km) long and roughly 6 miles (10 km) wide, covering 219 square miles (570 km2). A total of 13100 people worked at the center as of 2011. Approximately 2100 are employees of the federal government; the rest are contractors.

X-37B Landing June 16, 2012 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA
6/16/2012 - VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV), the Air Force's unmanned, reusable space plane, landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base at 5:48 am (PDT) June 16. OTV-2, which launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., March 5, 2011, conducted on-orbit experiments for 469 days during its mission. "Team Vandenberg has put in over a year's worth of hard work in preparation for this landing and today we were able to see the fruits of our labor," said Col. Nina Armagno, 30th Space Wing commander. "I am so proud of our team for coming together to execute this landing operation safely and successfully." The X-37B is the newest and most advanced re-entry spacecraft. Managed by the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, the X-37B program performs risk reduction, experimentation and concept of operations development for reusable space vehicle technologies. "With the retirement of the Space Shuttle fleet, the X-37B OTV program brings a singular capability to space technology development," said Lt. Col. Tom McIntyre, X-37B program manager. "The return capability allows the Air Force to test new technologies without the same risk commitment faced by other programs. We're proud of the entire team's successful efforts to bring this mission to an outstanding conclusion." The Air Force is preparing for another launch of the X-37B from Cape Canaveral Air Force station sometime in Fall 2012 aboard an Atlas V booster. This will be a re-flight of ...

Scientists Discuss the Radiation Belt Storm Probes Mission
At the Kennedy Space Center, program scientists preview NASA's Radiation Belt Storm Probes mission. RBSP is being designed to help us understand the Sun's influence on Earth and Near-Earth space by studying the Earth's radiation belts on various scales of space and time. The mission is scheduled to launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on August 24.

SpaceX Falcon Dragon / CRS-1 launch from Cape Canaveral AFS to supply ISS (VAB Roof)
I captured this video from our location on the roof of Kennedy Space Center's Vehicle Assembly Building. A Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) Falcon 9 rocket carrying its Dragon spacecraft lifted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida at 8:35 pm EDT Sunday, beginning NASA's first contracted cargo delivery flight, designated SpaceX CRS-1, to the International Space Station. Under NASA's Commercial Resupply Services contract, SpaceX will fly at least 12 cargo missions to the space station through 2016. The contract is worth $1.6 billion. The Dragon spacecraft will be grappled at 7:22 am on Wednesday, Oct. 10, by Expedition 33 crew members Sunita Williams of NASA and Aki Hoshide of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, who will use the station's robotic arm to install the Dragon. The capsule is scheduled to spend 18 days attached to the station. It then will return for a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern California. "Just over one year after the retirement of the space shuttle, we have returned space station cargo resupply missions to US soil and are bringing the jobs associated with this work back to America," NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said. "The SpaceX launch tonight marks the official start of commercial resupply missions by American companies operating out of US spaceports like the one right here in Florida." Dragon is delivering a total of 882 pounds of supplies to the orbiting laboratory, including 260 pounds ...
