Khamisiyah, Iraq 1991....Sarin Nerve Gas Released On US Troops
Following the signing of the ceasefire agreement at Safwan, Iraq (Feb. 28 1991). Members of the 37th Eng Bn, 82nd Airborne Division, under orders from Gen Norman Schwarzkopf. Conducted demolition operations at the Khamisiyah Ammunition Supply Depot. Thus releasing of an estimated 8 metric tons of Sarin Nerve Agent into the atmosphere. Over 4,000 American Service Members in the immediate vicinity were subsequently exposed and stricken by the effects of Sarin Agent. This video gives a viable explanation why Gen Schwarzkopf engage in such reckless conduct. As well as displaying both his and Gen Colin Powell's commitment to supporting the lies already told about Khamisiyah. And at the price of betraying the surviving Service Members, permanently injured as a result of their leadership.

The Battle of Al-Khamisiyah (1991)
The Battle of Al-Khamisiyah, a significant event during the Gulf War, took place in March 1991, towards the end of the conflict that started in August 1990, when Iraq invaded Kuwait, leading to a multi-national coalition intervention led by the United States. Al-Khamisiyah, a town in southern Iraq, became notable not just for the military operations that occurred there but also for a post-conflict incident that had lasting health implications for veterans.

My apologizes for the degraded quality of this video. I am still seeking access to the original VHS Tape that was submitted to the US Senate during their 1996 hearings into what happened at Khamisiyah. But so far I have found no joy. Which is perhaps indicative of the entire legacy of Khamisiyah. None the less, it is a moment in history. And often times just the fact that a visual record exists on any medium is fortunate. The administration of President GHW Bush and the Pentagon both adopted the story line that no WMD's were used by, or captured from the Iraqi's during the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Nadiya ka paani bhi khamosh behta yahaan
Khili chandani mein chhipi lakh khamoshiyan
Baarish ki boondon ki hoti kahaan hai zubaan
Sulagte dilon mein hai khamosh uthta dhuaan
Khamoshiyan aakaash hai
Tum udne toh aao zara

To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the start of the 1990-91 Gulf War, I am posting this video of the demolition of the WMD bunker complex in Khamisiyah in its entirety.
The U.S., England, Russia, China and lots of other Countries sold and traded WMDs to Iraq over the decades prior to the 1990-91 Gulf War. After Saddam invaded Kuwait on 2/Aug/90, the Coalition demanded he leave Kuwait, and built up forces in Saudi Arabia to confront him, building up Troop numbers over 690,000.
During the Air War, starting on 17/Jan/91, Coalition bombers destroyed a majority of those WMDs and Saddams infrastructure that he had used to make them. after the War ended on 28/Feb/91, Coalition Forces moved into areas known to be storage and forward deployment depots for WMDs, and were ordered to destroy as much of it as possible. the problem with those orders is that at NO time were those Troops warned that the munitions they were destroying were WMDs.
they were led to believe they were only destroying conventional weapons and thus did not require any additional care or gear to safely carry out these orders. Just before the weapons depot at Khamisiyah was destroyed, a U.S. Army Scout found a WMD weapons cache in an area Saddam had told Schwarzkopf that there were no WMDs. the Scout developed blisters consistent with exposure to WMDs, and on 3/Mar/91 this fact was presented to Gen Schwarzkopf, who decided that the event would not stop the WMD destructions. He should have recinded his order, made Troops leave the bunker area and send in trained NBC Soldiers to re-scout the area and clear the area for other Troops to either move back in and resume their jobs or change the plans and wait until it could be done without harming the Troops. instead, Schwarzkopf ignored his advisors and demanded the demolitions proceed and thus put Troops in harms way with complete knowledge.
so, the bunker and warehouse complex at Khamisiyah was blown up from 4/Mar/91 to 12/Mar/91, with Troops going into the complex, rigging a few bunkers as test firings to see how much explosive it would take per bunker, then went into the complext to see the damage done. they did this several times over the days they were there until the final day when the entire complex was to be blown up all at once.
with Coalition forces video taping it from a few miles away. they watched as the smoke plume from the exploding complex drifted over them and went over several thousand Coalition Troops in the down wind path. for years after this, the Dept of Defense, CIA and NSA denied it happened until this video and D.O.D. documents proving what was on it went public. the video was copied using a video camera aimed at a TV screen, so there are alot of background sounds, bird chirping etc, but for the most part contains the original voices and actions of the Soldiers who were present for the demolitions. So it is providential that anything even exists today. The CIA and DOD only opened investigations into the event, after Chemical Weapons Experts from the United Nations examined the remains of the Iraqi Army's, Khamisiyah, Ammunition Supply Point (ASP), in October 1991. The discovery of a massive complex of bunkers. Each bunker the size of a Super Wal-Mart Store. And all of them blasted into rubble. With empty crates of recently issued US Army, demolition charges scattered about. As well as a significant number of undamaged and still operable, 122 mm rockets, filled with Sarin And Cyclosarin Nerve Agents. Was hard to ignore. However, after nearly 25 years and billions of dollars spent on investigations, there are still questions. The least of which is, just how did Saddam Hussein acquire so many WMD's? And if the answer is that the USA, UK, USSR, France and Germany among others, sold these WMD's to Saddam. Then why would we go to war with someone who was such a good customer? It can not be just because of the plight of the conquered population in Kuwait. As noble as that cause was. And I say that as someone who was there. I was actually close enough to qualify as an eyewitness to this spectacle. Well within range of the material fallout from Khamisiyah. But there were a bunch of other Americans that we even closer than I was. And today a number of them are dead. Nearly all of them are sick. And all of us want to know why? If we were there to Liberate Kuwait. Why were we so far inside of Iraq?

Ghar Inko Bulao Kabhi
Bekaraar Hai Baat Karne Ko
Kehne Do Inko Zara
Khamoshiyan
Teri Meri Khamoshiyan
Khamoshiyan
Lipti Hui Khamoshiyan
Kya Us Gali Mein
Kabhi Tera Jaana Hua
Jahan Se Zamane Ko Guzre
Zamaana Hua
Mera Samay Toh
Wahin Pe Hai Thehra Hua
Bataun Tumhein Kya
Mere Saath Kya Kya Hua
Hmm.. Khamoshiyan Ek Saaz Hai
Tum Dhun Koyi Lao Zara
Khamoshiyan Alfaaz Hain
Kabhi Aa Gunguna Le Zara
Bekaraar Hai Baat Karne Ko
Kehne Do Inko Zara Haan
Khamoshiyan
Teri Meri Khamoshiyan
Khamoshiyan
Lipti Hui Khamoshiyan
Nadiya Ka Paani Bhi
Khamosh Behta Yahan
Khili Chandani Mein
Chhipi Lakh Khamoshiyan
Baarish Ki Boondon Ki
Hoti Kahan Hai Zubaan
Sulagte Dilon Mein Hai
Khamosh Uthta Dhuaan
Khamoshiyan Aakash Hai
Tum Udne Toh Aao Zara
Khamoshiyan Ehsaas Hai
Tumhein Mehsoos Hoti Hai Kya
Bekaraar Hai Baat Karne Ko
Kehne Do Inko Zara Haan
Khamoshiyan
Teri Meri Khamoshiyan
Khamoshiyan
Lipti Hui Khamoshiyan
Khamoshiyan
Teri Meri Khamoshiyan
Khamoshiyan
Lipti Hui Khamoshiyan
