Chen Fake or Chén Fākē or Ch'en Fa-k'e 陳發科 (1887–1957) was a famous Chinese taijiquan teacher. Born and raised in Chen Family Village (Chenjiagou, 陳家溝) in Henan province, he was the 17th generation lineage holder of Chen-style taijiquan. His great-grandfather was the famous Taijiquan grandmaster Chen Changxing. His grandsons include Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang (the 19th generation standard-bearer for Chen family Taiji) and Grandmaster Chen Xiaoxing (head of Chen family Taiji instruction in Chenjiagou).

Chen Fake made Chen-style taijiquan a known and distinct entity when he went to Beijing in 1928 and opened the Zhongzhou Institute, which taught taijiquan.

Creator of Xin Jia[link]

Chen Fake is also known as the creator of the so-called New Frame (xin jia) within Chen style. Chen Fake feared that taijiquan was being lost because some of its properties were too subtle, so he created a form that added visible external movements to internal actions. Exponents are however divided over this view. His son Chen Zhaokui is among many who regard Xin Jia to be a more refined style of Chen not previously taught in public. Xin Jia is much more ornate than the so-called Old Frame style (Lao Jia) of Chen Zhaopi.

Du Yu (Chinese: 杜預; pinyin: Dù Yù) (222–285), style name Yuankai (元凱), was a military general of Cao Wei during the late Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. He served the Jin Dynasty after the end of the Three Kingdoms period. Also a prolific author, Du Yu was a self-proclaimed addict of Zuo Zhuan and wrote an influential commentary to it. Du Yu was one of the most important commanders under Zhong Hui during the conquest of the rival state of Shu Han, and he also followed in leading an army in the conquest of Eastern Wu as guardian of the south. Du Yu managed to lay waste to the Eastern Wu army with great force in not the greatest of length of time, and received the surrender of Eastern Wu's last ruler Sun Hao.

Du Yu was a brother-in-law of the Wei regent Sima Zhao, whose son Sima Yan later became the founding emperor of the Jin Dynasty. Du Yu married Sima Zhao's younger sister Princess Gaolu (高陆) after returning from the conquest of Shu. Du Yu was also the ancestor of the Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu.

Steve Higgins (born August 13, 1963) is an American writer and comedian. He is currently the announcer for the NBC late-night talk show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.^[1]

Higgins was previously best known as one of the stars and creators of the Comedy Central (formerly The Comedy Channel) sketch comedy series The Higgins Boys and Gruber.^[2] Since 1995, he's has a long-time association with Saturday Night Live in mostly behind-the-scenes roles as writer and producer.^[1][3] In the early 1990's, Higgins was a writer for the MTV programs Trashed and The Jon Stewart Show.^[4] He has been nominated for several Emmy Awards, including for Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program in 2008, both for his work on Saturday Night Live as a writer.^[5]

In addition to being a television series, The Higgins Boys and Gruber was also a sketch comedy trio featuring the Higgins brothers (Steve & David Anthony Higgins) and comedian Dave Gruber Allen.^[6] In 1989, Higgins performed at The Vic Theatre in Chicago, Illinois for HBO's One Night Stand television series, along with his brother Dave, and Gruber.^[7] With Nick Bakay, Higgins performed at the Girly Magazine Party show at Theatre/Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California in 1993, acting as "a sleazoid male chauvinist comedy duo who exchange off-color ethnic jokes and prance around in suits and ties like Steve Martin on acid". His brother, Dave, performed in the show as well in a separate act. Steve Higgins was praised for his ability of knowing "when to go over the top and when to rein it in", and how he was able to be "acutely tuned in to the comings and goings around them and know how to play off each other".^[8]
