Henry Mancini: Theme From Peter Gunn (Mancini, 1958)
Henry Mancini's and His Orchestra perform the theme from "Peter Gunn." I recorded this track from the double LP, "This Is Henry Mancini," RCA (VPS-6029). "Peter Gunn" was an American private eye television series which aired on the NBC (produced by Revue Productions) and later ABC (produced by MGM Television) television networks from 1958 to 1961. The show's creator (and also writer and director on occasion) was Blake Edwards. Also directed by Robert Altman, a total of 114 thirty-minute episodes were produced. The series is remembered most for its music, especially "The Peter Gunn Theme," which won an Emmy Award and two Grammys for Henry Mancini and has become a jazz-rock standard.

Peter Gunn - Rockabilly on TV 1958, Nino Tempo
From the "Sisters of the Friendless" episode of Peter Gunn season 1. Gunn visits a nightclub called "Rock a Billy's" where Nino Tempo fronts a, you guessed it, rockabilly band. Tough rocker with wailin' sax! Gunn is there to meet a waitress whose boyfriend is being chased by a hot rod gang. Some great stuff in this episode.

Peter Gunn - Edie Hart sings Day In, Day Out - 1958
Edie Hart (actress and singer Lola Albright) sings 'Day In, Day Out' in episode one of Peter Gunn, 'The Kill', 1958. Absolutely delectable. A must see (both this clip and the episode)! Craig Stevens is Peter Gunn, and do I mean he IS Peter Gunn, just as Raymond Burr IS Perry Mason. The superb Hope Emerson plays 'Mother', proprietor of Mother's (bar with cool jazz). The song 'Day In, Day Out' was penned by Johnny Mercer (lyrics) and Rube Bloom (music) in 1939.

Henry Mancini ~ Peter Gunn TV Theme ~ 1958
Most memorable of all was the show's opening (and closing) "Peter Gunn Theme", composed by Henry Mancini. The theme is based on a boogie-woogie piano bass line in the key of F minor, using the 1, 2, ?3, and 4 intervals, the first four notes of almost all minor scales. The use of the minor third, combined with the exclusion of the major third, gives the theme its minor tonality which creates a mood of suspense and foreboding. Unlike a traditional boogie-woogie, there are no chord changes. The theme remains on the F minor chord, with melodic interest created by using jazzy horn riffs. The song became an instant hit for Mancini, earning him an Emmy Award and two Grammys, and became as associated with crime fiction as Monty Norman's theme to the James Bond films is associated with espionage. The soundtrack album by Henry Mancini reached #1 in Billboard's Pop LP Charts. Ray Anthony achieved #8 on Billboard's Hot 100 with his 45 of the title theme. Mancini's single made the Variety magazine Top 25 retail chart, selling well in the Boston area. Peter Gunn is an American private eye television series which aired on the NBC and later ABC television networks from 1958 to 1961. The show's creator (and also writer and director on occasion) was Blake Edwards. Also directed by Boris Sagal, Robert Gist, Alan Crosland, Jr., Lamont Johnson and one espisode by Robert Altman and several others, a total of 114 thirty-minute episodes were produced by Spartan Productions. Peter Gunn - Beatnik Bar, Modern Art
Peter Gunn visits his pal Wilbur the Beatnik who spouts some way out hipster-talk about art and women. A cool Jazz combo with flute grooves in the background while the audience snaps their fingers in approval. All the Beatnik stereotypes rolled into one scene! The episode is "Image of Sally" from season one of Peter Gunn, 1958. Dig it.

3-Way Street
By summer 2010, the expansion of bike lanes in NYC exposed a clash of long-standing bad habits — such as pedestrians jaywalking, cyclists running red lights, and motorists plowing through crosswalks.
By focusing on one intersection as a case study, my video aims to show our interconnection and shared role in improving the safety and usability of our streets.
The video is part of a larger campaign I created called '3-Way Street'. Please see blog.ronconcocacola.com for more details.

Duane Eddy - Peter Gunn
Duane Eddy (born April 26, 1938) is a Grammy Award-winning American guitarist. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. In 1986, Eddy recorded with Art of Noise, remaking his 1960 version of Henry Mancini's "Peter Gunn". The song was a Top Ten hit around the world, ranking #1 on Rolling Stone Magazine's dance chart for six weeks that summer. "Peter Gunn" won the Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental of 1986. It also gave Eddy the distinction of being the only instrumentalist to have had Top 10 hit singles in four different decades in Great Britain. Peter Gunn is an American private eye television series which aired on the NBC (produced by Revue Productions) and later ABC (produced by MGM Television) television networks from 1958 to 1961. The show's creator (and also writer and director on occasion) was Blake Edwards. Also directed by Robert Altman, a total of 114 thirty-minute episodes were produced.

FREDDIE STARR And The MIDNIGHTERS - Peter Gunn Locomotion - Rare 60's Beat Treasures
Freddie (Fowell) Starr has been an entertainer in some form since 1954 when he joined a road show as a song and comedy act remaining with them untill 1958, during that year he played the part of a young teddy boy in the film Violent Playground. In Late 1958 he joined Howey Casey and the Seniors as second singer (main singer was Derry Wilkie), when the group became the first from Liverpool to appear in Hamburg, booked for a season at the Kaiserkeller. They where let down financially by the promoters resulting in the break up of the group. In 1962 Freddie joined the Midnighters replacing Gus Travers as lead singer, leading the group until 1964. During this period they released three records on the Decca label 'Who Told You?', 'Baby Blue' and 'Never Cry On Someone's Shoulder' all three failed to make the charts, Freddie left in 1965 and joined the Delmonts for a short period, appearing in cabaret. After pursuing a solo career for some years, he appeared on 'Sunday Night At The London Palladium' and became a leading comedian steering himself through a successful but controversial career.
